CJ's is one of the hidden gems of CT I think everyone should try. If you're looking for a simple yet delicious breakfast, this is the place to go. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a family-owned establishment filled with regulars and popular among families and the older population.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service is super friendly and quick, and the interior feels homey and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is amazing, and so are the prices. I got the breakfast special that comes with pancakes, eggs, bacon, and coffee. I opted for blueberry pancakes, which were massive and SO fluffy. They were cakey and not too sweet -- perfect for my preferences. The turkey bacon was crispy, and the yolks were runny just like I wanted. If you're looking to support a local, family-owned business, definitely try CJ's!

My dad goes to CJ's every Saturday for Breakfast bright and early. He's always awake super early do this place is his go to for early morning breakfast. Sam & Al have been running this place for forever. The service is quick and friendly and the food is fresh and made fast. Sam has a "Hiya honey" or "Good morning sunshine" To all the regulars that walk in the door each week. It's reminiscent of all those dinners back in the day. Hot coffee is made consistently the entire time you're there. Pancakes and bacon were fantastic . So good we had to get some to go as well. In the New Britain area CJs is the go to spot for breakfast.

There were warning signs that I chose to ignore so I only have myself to blame for the disaster some might call breakfast. The first clue should have been the location, an area populated by car dealerships, a defunct tire center, a closed Assyrian Community Center and an adjoining, similarly named, dry cleaners. Secondly, prior customer photos would not likely wet anyone's appetite. So yes, I coulda and shoulda have known better. No one acknowledged our arrival, but we observed a couple in front of us going directly to a table so we followed though choosing to settle in at a vacant booth. In short order a server arrived bearing menus and taking our drink orders. My wife chose apple cinnamon pancakes, a stack of 2 thought 3 seems to be the norm, while I went with a 3 egg spinach and feta omelet that included home fries and a choice of toast. Hers was almost good while mine was the worst omelet, hands down, that has ever been served to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Cooked past well done using frozen spinach and far too little feta it proved to be tasteless, dried out, and totally blah! The accompanying home fries were not great, but at least proved to eatable while the wheat toast was okay. Meanwhile back at my wife's side of the table, her coffee was nothing short of watered down. If you choose to ignore this review and opt to join the regulars at CJ's, be forewarned that breakfast is served everyday while lunch is limited to weekdays. Also, don't wait for the check to arrive, proceed to the register to pay though you will not be receiving a detailed bill. Lastly, actually almost lastly, there is a nominal charge of 1% added as a customer service fee that I surmise is due to paying with plastic. Finally, don't come expecting to see us because we will be dining elsewhere.

This place is snuggled in a small plaza with plenty of parking. They say to seat yourself when entering and its rather spacious inside. They have a huge menu along the bar type seating . Paper menus are available. The place is very clean . Today we tried the sausage gravy over biscuits. It was pretty good . My friend had eggs sunny side with bacon. The eggs definitely could have cooked longer . The bacon really good . One Mickey Mouse pancake for my son was just enough for his belly and pretty good. We definitely will be back to enjoy some more menu items and specials.

Popeyes omelette was yummy! The home fries was the way I like it... very good!

Breakfast made how it's supposed to be. No frills spot with friendly service and great food. I am never disappointed with a meal from CJs. If your getting an omelette with sausage ask for the Italian sausage...really delicious.

(as the kids say) It was crowded despite being early evening. The only available seats were at the bar area near the windows, which was fine because we were determined to experience the "new" place. We ordered the tuna tartare and lobstah rolls. The accompanying chips are homemade (slightly salty, but my taste buds are really close together). The host was attentive and gave us the royal treatment. We put this gem back on rotation and we are definitely returning!!!

The textured walls are gorgeous and give the space a style it was definitely missing before. As usual, the happy hour menu never disappoints. The Pomjito is a personal favorite.. refreshing, light, and not too sweet. We also got the oysters and mussels, both solid. The mussel sauce was unique compared to a typical tomato base, which we really appreciated. For my entrée, though, I was disappointed to see that the tuna salad I always order had completely changed. It used to be an arugula salad with Asian flavors and the tuna served on top. Now it It's a Niçoise salad, and the tuna is awkwardly placed on the side. Nothing about the tuna tasted like it did before. I'm usually a sucker for ahi tuna, but this was honestly one of the most disappointing ahi dishes I've ever had. It felt totally incohesive with the salad next to it. I really wish they didn't change the menu so frequently. Once I finally find an entrée I genuinely look forward to, it disappears. That said, we'll still be back for the great happy hour food and solid drinks. Now it's just a matter of finding a menu item I like... and hoping they keep it.

There's always something we are excited to check out when we haven't been in a while. The restaurant is both nice enough that you feel really good bringing your out of town friends here to try and impress while also being low-key enough for a simple date night with your significant other. They have a few non-alcoholic drink options. As someone who's living the sober lifestyle, it's always nice to see that. The restaurant is well managed and well maintained. Always clean, servers seem invested. It doesn't hurt to make a reservation if you're coming on a Friday or weekend night. Chicken is the star of the show here, and we almost always order that with some of the ala carte sides, but my wife also likes to grab something else off the menu and I'll usually sneak a bite. We've never had anything that fell below expectations.

Also had an avocado toast. Decent, added on tomatoes and pickled onions (both $0.75 additional each). The description said that the base (original total $9) for the build your own avocado toast had olive oil and lime on it but I honestly could not taste either. Not sure if they didn't add it or if it may have been mixed in with the mashed up avocado? If so I think it would be better if added on top. Hot tramp, I love you so" (David Bowie) After a morning appointment in Farmington, we were both in the mood to stop somewhere for breakfast. That gave us the perfect opportunity to stop at a place we've driven by a zillion times. Rebel Dog Coffee's area shops have been on our radar for years, and yesterday we finally checked their Farmington location. It's in a strip mall shopping plaza right next to a Nardelli's more or less where Route 6 crosses Fienneman Road/Birdseye Road. Their Dog Pack has four Rebel Dog members spread out around the Greater Hartford area and some of their coffees can be found in local supermarkets. Their Farmington store is very large and comfortable, with plenty of space between the customer tables. The dining room was fairly crowded when we arrived, with people socializing and banging away on their laptops. Rebel Dog has a very deep offering of coffee drinks and food choices, Want a coffee? Well, you best be ready to choose among single or double espressos (with or without foam of whipped cream or steamed milk, lattes. Cappuccinos, mochas, and Americanos, light-dark-or decaf drip coffees, French Press, Pour Overs, teas, jot chocolates and a ton more. You can even get a growler of coffee, tea, or kombucha. I never saw that before. Now, what good is a morning coffee without something to munch alongside it? No worries, because the Dog has you covered with everything from "Build Your Own" breakfast sandwiches, six egg Benedicts, oatmeal, yogurt & granola, fruit cups, and pastries. If you arrive later in the day, your options might include soups, salads, sandwiches, grilled cheese and burgers. Our breakfast order was a cup of their Steady Habits light house blend (a medium-light roast, smooth and sweet with notes of roasted nuts, fig, and caramel), a cup of their Big Red Truck Dark Roast (a blend of both washed process and natural process Colombian coffees for a rich and layered coffee with notes of dark chocolate, crème brûlée, and warm spices), a "build Your Own" Breakfast Bagel Sandwich and an order of Avocado Toast. With tax and tip, everything totaled under $25. The sandwich we built contained ham and an egg on an Everything Bagel and we had zero complaints about it. My Avocado Toast (no added egg or protein) was wonderful. It was a thick slice of homemade multigrain bread topped with a very generous blanket of smashed avocado. We could not have been happier with our first encounter with a Rebel Dog.
