(as the kids say) It was crowded despite being early evening. The only available seats were at the bar area near the windows, which was fine because we were determined to experience the "new" place. We ordered the tuna tartare and lobstah rolls. The accompanying chips are homemade (slightly salty, but my taste buds are really close together). Updating my original review to add a few things... Fork n Fire recently made significant renovations to the main bar area. It now feels more luxe, modern, and high-end. The textured walls are gorgeous and give the space a style it was definitely missing before. As usual, the happy hour menu never disappoints. The Pomjito is a personal favorite.. refreshing, light, and not too sweet. We also got the oysters and mussels, both solid. The mussel sauce was unique compared to a typical tomato base, which we really appreciated. For my entrée, though, I was disappointed to see that the tuna salad I always order had completely changed. It used to be an arugula salad with Asian flavors and the tuna served on top. Now it It's a Niçoise salad, and the tuna is awkwardly placed on the side. Nothing about the tuna tasted like it did before. I'm usually a sucker for ahi tuna, but this was honestly one of the most disappointing ahi dishes I've ever had. It felt totally incohesive with the salad next to it. I really wish they didn't change the menu so frequently. Once I finally find an entrée I genuinely look forward to, it disappears. I once attended a special Pasta Dinner at Fork and Fire in Farmington, but until recently I had never visited to order off their normal menu. Fork and Fire has an upscale Gastropub sort of vibe and offers an eclectic menu. My family and I visited on a Sunday around lunch time. Fork and Fire only offered their Brunch Menu at the time, which I didn't know. I was in more of a lunch mood, but they let me order the Black and Burger off the later menu, which was very nice. Not all cheeseburgers feature melty slices. The Black and Blue Burger featured Crumbled Blue Cheese, Pickled Red Onions, Smoked Bacon and Chipotle Aioli, on Toasted Brioche. The burger was huge and well cooked. So juicy it dripped. A flavor bomb. I also ordered the famous Kitchen Sink wings for the table, along with a side of Blue Cheese AND Ranch. The wings were super juicy. Top Tier Juicy. But the outer texture was still appropriately crisp. The sauce was sweet and savory, with a little bit of heat. Great wings. The staff are very gracious and willing to offer suggestions along with their own personal tasting experiences! I've enjoyed a variety of plates, during Sunday brunch, dinner, and lunch. We had such a good experience here! The ambiance is very nice, it's dark lighting and candles on the table so it sets the mood, perfect for a date night! We started off with drinks, and it's great that they have a mocktail portion of their drink menu with low alcohol or non alcoholic options. I chose the Hill-Stead off the alcoholic drink menu and it was SO delicious! Our waiter was great and our food and drinks came out fast. We stopped here for dinner after a bike ride on the Farmington Canal trail. I'd already heard good things about it so my expectations were high. It's pretty unassuming from the outside - It's tucked in the corner of a strip mall. There is plenty of parking, with 3 accessible spaces right out front. It's a small but attractive space. Very Gastropub. The bar area is a decent size and has a number of high top tables. There is a small area with a couple booths and a few lower tables. They get very busy pretty quickly so I'd recommend reservations or coming at an off hour. I had a glass of wine and my husband had a beer. He was a little disappointed with the tap list because they were small pours and didn't really have anything he felt for on it. They don't claim to be a beer bar though, so this is more of a him thing lol. Our server was very pleasant and didn't rush us. We ordered the Taiwanese popcorn chicken. It comes with a bunch of crunchy vegetables and peanuts in a spicy, sour sauce. I thought it was delicious and liked that they made a dish out of it rather than just fried chicken on a plate. I suspect a lot of people would find it too spicy, so fair warning to have the kitchen adjust the spice level if you're spice averse! For a main I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the roast chicken. He said the chicken was the best he's ever had out at a restaurant, and I can confirm that it was pretty perfect. My shrimp and grits were delicious as well. The grits were fluffy rather than loose and creamy, but I rather liked it. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the gravy had a rich seafood flavor that really complemented the whole dish. We'll definitely be returning to explore the rest of the menu next time we're in the area! read more

(Last visited June 7, 2023.) I've heard some great things about Fork & Fire here in Farmington so we headed here on a Wednesday when they have 1/2 off bottles of wine AND 1/2 off wings! What kind of magical day is this?! So we pulled up to check out some of their offerings! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set tucked into a plaza right off of Farmington Avenue is this chill, laid-back tavern of a restaurant. Once in the door you're greeted with a series of warm colors. There's a bright red wall, a deep red brick wall, dark wooden floors, intimate yellow lights that hang from the ceiling, the trendy black ceiling tiles and a BIG bar. It wasn't super loud, but it wasn't quiet in here either. You can easily have a conversation with whoever you're with right at your table. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but I feel like it was the manager? Maybe the owner? She was really sweet though and took excellent care of us. We had no issues at all. Food: I already told you why I'm here, but we had a surprise on the menu, pulled pork sliders! These aren't always available, since they were a special, but maybe they could be around when you go! They also only offer 4 flavors of wings so that means they've perfected these and don't have to stretch themselves too far to make so many flavors! They are also par-baked to speed up the ordering process when they come out to you so they're flash fried and made to order. Pulled Pork Sliders: This is smoked barbecue pulled pork with fried onions, white cheddar cheese on a sweet Hawaiian roll. This was AMAZING. I did not expect what I tasted. The cheese was super gooey, the flavors were off the chain and powerful. The barbecue sauce wasn't super sweet and complemented the meaty, saltiness of the cheese with the pork. Sriracha Honey Wings: On first sight these looked beautiful. The sesame seeds gave a good accent color to the deep red color of the sauce. They were also super sticky and gooey. That also means they hold temperature heat very well and flavor! The wings were also VERY BIG and tender. They had a good crisp on the outside, deep, rich flavor, sweet from the honey and the sriracha was a bit light. I could've used more spice on these. Bleu Cheese: A little on the sharp side, but not terribly sharp and not too thick. It's pretty decent and I loved that it had actual chunks of bleu cheese crumbles in the sauce. Kitchen Sink Wings: These are actually a combination of their Buffalo sauce with the Sriracha honey. So the spice I asked for in the last sauce showed up here and it was delicious. The Buffalo changed the entire flavor profile of the wing! I got Szechuan flavors from this and I really liked these. Just as tender and crisp as the last batch. Buffalo: I just loved how the sauce for all of these wings felt like it went DEEP into the skin way beyond just having some sauces tossed on the surface. The Buffalo was rich and bold without being so vinegary. Ranch: This ranch was SUPER thick and that made me happy. Lol. It had a great dill flavor that was also creamy and a little bit sweet. I actually liked it better than their bleu cheese. Soy Chili Crunch: These looked so different and unique. I had never seen anything like it! These were a bit oily, but I got a good soy flavor, red chili, green chili, red pepper and Szechuan flavors from this wing. Good wing, but not my favorite of the evening. Value: Like I said, 1/2 off wings and 1/2 off wines on Wednesdays. So I got a $40.00 bottle of wine for... you guessed it, $20.00. Wings are usually $20.00 for 10 wings, but were only $10.00 today. This place does present more of an upscale feel and vibe so bring the wallet and prepared to spend just a little bit, but it's a tavern, not fine dining. It won't be that bad. Lol. In conclusion, I've come here quite a few more times and have loved it each time. I look forward to the next time I can pay this place a visit! read more

Wow wow wow. Haven't been to a restaurant this good in a long time. We walked in and were seated quickly, which surprised me because it seemed pretty busy. Our waitress came over, took our drink orders, and brought them out rather quickly. The lighting was a bit dim so bring your readers! Looking at the menu, they had a wide variety of all different foods that anyone could find something to enjoy. I went with the herb roasted half chicken with whipped potatoes and broccolini. The chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly. The juice from the chicken spilled over and covered the potatoes and broccolini. Everything was truly fantastic. A friend and I were looking for a place to grab dinner, and decuded to visit a place from my "to try" list. Upon arrival, the hostess was very friendly and brought me to my seat, so there was no wait (the reservation worked!). The atmosphere is very eclectic,veith lighting that creates a mixture of light and dark areas throughout the restaurant, distressed decor, and paintings/artwork, giving a jazz-adjacent vibe. Admittedly, it felt like more if a place to take a date than to catch up with a friend, but still quite pleasant. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly, without being overbearing. I took the recommendation for the "Still D.R.E." cocktail, and while mixed drinks are not usually my thing, this was well balanced and didn't feel wateredy, even as the ice melted over 30+ minutes (good use of a large cube). We both ordered the duck. The seasoning was fine, but there was nothing particularly special in the flavor of the dish. The biggest issue was the duck breast itself; it was medium rare, as ordered, but while there was a little bit of crisp on the skin, the fat underneath was barely rendered at all, making it hard to even cut through the skin with my knife, let alone chew (even though the meat underneath was tender). Everyone said their drink was good; the guava lava was so tasty but also very spicy... after the first sip I realized why "lava" was in the name lol We ordered the charcuterie board that i forgot to capture. For the price, it was pretty small with a few slices of meat, 4 crackers but a good amount of cheese. I did ask for more crackers and it was given to us. I wouldnt say it was a true sharable plate. For our main course my dad had the scallops, my brother, the carbonara, and I had the shrimp and grits. Coming from the south I cant believe im saying this but that was the best shrimp and grits I ever had. It was seasoned so well and all the ingredients married so well. I loved it. I was unable to reach them for a reservation because they had just opened. Snobby male staff told me that I couldn't be seated in a booth because I had no reservation. He sat me in a hard wooden table. I couldn't stay long. The salad had crumbled breadcrumbs instead of croutons. Can't pick those up with a fork. I asked for no dressing. Not a pleasant experience. This place is a sleeper. Tucked away in a small plaza I've driven by tons of times and never even noticed it. I was in the mood for wings and this popped up on my radar while at west farms. Decided to give it a shot and glad we did! Really nice ambiance inside - we sat at the bar and had great service from the bartender. Their bourbon / whiskey selection was surprisingly great! They had great cocktail options as well, including flights. Not to mention a large beer list including many local breweries on tap. We started with the homemade bread. Served on a cool CT board with everything you'd want to dip your bread in. Great app. For dinner I had an order of 10 wings which you can split. Kitchen sink and honey sriracha sauces were great! Love that it had quite a few GF dishes on there as well! My Chicken BLT I enjoyed. It wasn't dry, it was tasty and it was a good piece of chicken on there. My French fries, lived that they were nice and crispy. Had a great taste since I got Parmesan on them but I thought they were a bit too greasy . My friends enjoyed their dishes and drinks! Also, my Flourless cake was amazing! I loved it. It was warm, soft, not dry , gooey . Just perfect! Couldn't even tell it was GF. Normally flourless cakes are soo dry! But not this one! Fork & Fire has always been one of our favorite casual restaurants. They have an amazing cocktail program and the kitchen sink wings are some of the best in CT. Nearly everything on the menu is made in house or locally sourced. From the house made pierogis to small state provisions buns. The espresso martinis use fresh espresso and I really enjoyed the eggnog espresso martini which was not too sweet. The kitchen sink wings are a blend of sweet chili and buffalo for the perfect sweet/spicy combo. I love that the Caesar salad has a soft boiled egg on top. read more

I was blown away by Fork & Fire - if all experiences are like mine, I would suspect they'll be moving into a bigger space in the next few years. Right now it's located in a plaza, sharing the parking lot with a liquor store and Starbucks. There is indoor and outdoor seating; the indoor seating is mostly high tops with some "regular" tables in the back. The space and getting to the restroom in the back can be a little tight space wise. All the waitresses were very friendly, and shared responsibility for getting drink refills. The oysters were delicious! Definitely worth the price and more, they were cleaned really well, and nice and cold on the ice. I had a breakfast skillet, which I wish had more hollandaise sauce, but had delicious eggs and crispy potatoes! Once I finished, I wished I had more. It was a great brunch meal! read more

I want to like Forge and Fire. I saw this place pop up a few times on my yelp recommendations and I had to come and give this place a try. I was easily able to make a reservation on the Resy app which was very convenient. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly. There is a good selection of drinks so you're bound to find something you're into. Vibe is a nice bar vibe with a good amount of seating. I appreciate the amount of tvs so I could keep up with the score of the games on. Our server was pleasant and attentive. I order the blue cheese burger and my wife ordered the salmon we also ordered the Brussels sprouts. I also had an expresso martini which was pretty good. My burger came out the opposite of my request so that was a bit of a let down. However the burger was good would have been even better if it was to temperature. My wife reported that her salmon had a good crust on it although the salmon itself tasted a little fishy. She did say that she enjoyed the kimchi rice. The Brussels sprouts were really good. Great flavor with a little bit of spice the sauce put it over the top for me. I'm a sucker for crispy Brussels sprouts. The only other thing that I held me back from really liking this place is the price for a kids orange juice was $4.00 which is really high. Kids milk was $3.50 again kind of excessive to me. That gives me a little pause on returning at least if I do I'll leave the kids at home. If I'm in the area then I may make a return. read more

For my main course I ordered the salmon dish. It was filling and seasoned well. Loved every bite. We did ordered dessert because why not. We decided on the apple crisp. The apple crisp tasted homemade with fresh diced apples and a nice crumb topping it was not overly sweet. I wish I had a bigger scoop of ice cream but that's because I'm an ice cream lover.
