I once attended a special Pasta Dinner at Fork and Fire in Farmington, but until recently I had never visited to order off their normal menu. Fork and Fire has an upscale Gastropub sort of vibe and offers an eclectic menu. My family and I visited on a Sunday around lunch time. Fork and Fire only offered their Brunch Menu at the time, which I didn't know. I was in more of a lunch mood, but they let me order the Black and Burger off the later menu, which was very nice. Not all cheeseburgers feature melty slices. The Black and Blue Burger featured Crumbled Blue Cheese, Pickled Red Onions, Smoked Bacon and Chipotle Aioli, on Toasted Brioche. The burger was huge and well cooked. So juicy it dripped. A flavor bomb. I also ordered the famous Kitchen Sink wings for the table, along with a side of Blue Cheese AND Ranch. The wings were super juicy. Top Tier Juicy. But the outer texture was still appropriately crisp. The sauce was sweet and savory, with a little bit of heat. Great wings. And the side sauces were terrific too. Service was very good. The atmosphere was terrific. Everyone enjoyed their orders. 4.5 Stars

Located in the center of Farmington near the Farmington River crossing along Route 4. Nicely tucked in the plaza Fork & Fire serves up a delicious fare, cocktails, and drafts. The staff are very gracious and willing to offer suggestions along with their own personal tasting experiences! I've enjoyed a variety of plates, during Sunday brunch, dinner, and lunch. The seating is warm and comfortable, tables, booths, bar seats, even my favorite section with elevated booths. Outside seats are available when conditions a favorable. Fork & Fire is definitely an enjoyable and comfortable dining experience.

We had such a good experience here! The ambiance is very nice, it's dark lighting and candles on the table so it sets the mood, perfect for a date night! We started off with drinks, and it's great that they have a mocktail portion of their drink menu with low alcohol or non alcoholic options. I chose the Hill-Stead off the alcoholic drink menu and it was SO delicious! Our waiter was great and our food and drinks came out fast. I had the Brisket Mac n Cheese and holy cow, it was incredible. The brisket was tender, juicy, and just the right amount of seasoning. The mac n cheese was great too and the portions were huge. I had lots of leftovers to take home. Everyone was so pleased with their food all across the table, we couldn't stop talking about how great everything was!

We stopped here for dinner after a bike ride on the Farmington Canal trail. I'd already heard good things about it so my expectations were high. It's pretty unassuming from the outside - It's tucked in the corner of a strip mall. There is plenty of parking, with 3 accessible spaces right out front. It's a small but attractive space. Very Gastropub. The bar area is a decent size and has a number of high top tables. There is a small area with a couple booths and a few lower tables. They get very busy pretty quickly so I'd recommend reservations or coming at an off hour. I had a glass of wine and my husband had a beer. He was a little disappointed with the tap list because they were small pours and didn't really have anything he felt for on it. They don't claim to be a beer bar though, so this is more of a him thing lol. Our server was very pleasant and didn't rush us. We ordered the Taiwanese popcorn chicken. It comes with a bunch of crunchy vegetables and peanuts in a spicy, sour sauce. I thought it was delicious and liked that they made a dish out of it rather than just fried chicken on a plate. I suspect a lot of people would find it too spicy, so fair warning to have the kitchen adjust the spice level if you're spice averse! For a main I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the roast chicken. He said the chicken was the best he's ever had out at a restaurant, and I can confirm that it was pretty perfect. My shrimp and grits were delicious as well. The grits were fluffy rather than loose and creamy, but I rather liked it. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the gravy had a rich seafood flavor that really complemented the whole dish. We'll definitely be returning to explore the rest of the menu next time we're in the area!

    Old Fashioned Flight

Food and drinks were delicious and the staff had excellent customer service. Husband and I ordered an Old Fashioned Flight which was enjoyable with the Coconut Calamari. For dinner, he ordered the pan seared catfish with a side of Truffle Parm Fries. He felt the catfish was too smothered but the fries were tasty! I ordered the pork chop with sweet potato and devoured the entire plate. Will definitely visit Fork & Fire again.

(Last visited June 7, 2023.) I've heard some great things about Fork & Fire here in Farmington so we headed here on a Wednesday when they have 1/2 off bottles of wine AND 1/2 off wings! What kind of magical day is this?! So we pulled up to check out some of their offerings! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set tucked into a plaza right off of Farmington Avenue is this chill, laid-back tavern of a restaurant. Once in the door you're greeted with a series of warm colors. There's a bright red wall, a deep red brick wall, dark wooden floors, intimate yellow lights that hang from the ceiling, the trendy black ceiling tiles and a BIG bar. It wasn't super loud, but it wasn't quiet in here either. You can easily have a conversation with whoever you're with right at your table. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but I feel like it was the manager? Maybe the owner? She was really sweet though and took excellent care of us. We had no issues at all. Food: I already told you why I'm here, but we had a surprise on the menu, pulled pork sliders! These aren't always available, since they were a special, but maybe they could be around when you go! They also only offer 4 flavors of wings so that means they've perfected these and don't have to stretch themselves too far to make so many flavors! They are also par-baked to speed up the ordering process when they come out to you so they're flash fried and made to order. Pulled Pork Sliders: This is smoked barbecue pulled pork with fried onions, white cheddar cheese on a sweet Hawaiian roll. This was AMAZING. I did not expect what I tasted. The cheese was super gooey, the flavors were off the chain and powerful. The barbecue sauce wasn't super sweet and complemented the meaty, saltiness of the cheese with the pork. Sriracha Honey Wings: On first sight these looked beautiful. The sesame seeds gave a good accent color to the deep red color of the sauce. They were also super sticky and gooey. That also means they hold temperature heat very well and flavor! The wings were also VERY BIG and tender. They had a good crisp on the outside, deep, rich flavor, sweet from the honey and the sriracha was a bit light. I could've used more spice on these. Bleu Cheese: A little on the sharp side, but not terribly sharp and not too thick. It's pretty decent and I loved that it had actual chunks of bleu cheese crumbles in the sauce. Kitchen Sink Wings: These are actually a combination of their Buffalo sauce with the Sriracha honey. So the spice I asked for in the last sauce showed up here and it was delicious. The Buffalo changed the entire flavor profile of the wing! I got Szechuan flavors from this and I really liked these. Just as tender and crisp as the last batch. Buffalo: I just loved how the sauce for all of these wings felt like it went DEEP into the skin way beyond just having some sauces tossed on the surface. The Buffalo was rich and bold without being so vinegary. Ranch: This ranch was SUPER thick and that made me happy. Lol. It had a great dill flavor that was also creamy and a little bit sweet. I actually liked it better than their bleu cheese. Soy Chili Crunch: These looked so different and unique. I had never seen anything like it! These were a bit oily, but I got a good soy flavor, red chili, green chili, red pepper and Szechuan flavors from this wing. Good wing, but not my favorite of the evening. Value: Like I said, 1/2 off wings and 1/2 off wines on Wednesdays. So I got a $40.00 bottle of wine for... you guessed it, $20.00. Wings are usually $20.00 for 10 wings, but were only $10.00 today. This place does present more of an upscale feel and vibe so bring the wallet and prepared to spend just a little bit, but it's a tavern, not fine dining. It won't be that bad. Lol. In conclusion, I've come here quite a few more times and have loved it each time. I look forward to the next time I can pay this place a visit!

Wow wow wow. Haven't been to a restaurant this good in a long time. We walked in and were seated quickly, which surprised me because it seemed pretty busy. Our waitress came over, took our drink orders, and brought them out rather quickly. The lighting was a bit dim so bring your readers! Looking at the menu, they had a wide variety of all different foods that anyone could find something to enjoy. I went with the herb roasted half chicken with whipped potatoes and broccolini. The chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly. The juice from the chicken spilled over and covered the potatoes and broccolini. Everything was truly fantastic. It was a little on the pricier side, but it was well worth it. Definitely recommend Fork and Fire!!!!

    Three cheese pierogies - yummy

The home fries are so gooooood... idk what little spice dusting is on there but I loved them. Brunch is good, mimosa is served in a nice glass, not a chunky crappy glass, if you know what I mean. It was busy so definitely recommend a reservation! Came another time and had Pierogies which were yummy and so was the broccolini. I think they do trivia some nights so it gets busy! It's cozy inside, and our server was really friendly, it was his first day and he did great

Quick lunch with the girls on a Sunday afternoon. Service was good, ambiance was okay. The wings and salad were decent. Just a nice neighborhood spot for me.

Don't let the outside of this place fool you because looks are definitely deceiving. We were cautious coming to this place due to the appearance of the outside, but once we were in it was so much fun. Agus, aka rawbartender, was Ah-mazing and truly made the night fun. He was truly such a vibe!! I ordered the SpongeBob, which was Goslings rum, pineapple spice, ginger, lime, angostura bitters. Especially with the show that was put on, my drink tasted even better. It was a Smokey, yet smooth and refreshing drink! We also got the Snow White, on the sweeter side made with Pear vodka, orgeat, pear juice, lemon juice, cinnamon. And of course, we can't forget our schooling in tequila and Mezcal from Agus. He was very informative of what he was serving and we tried a few different shots. He gave us the rundown of how you're actually supposed to taste tequila. And I have to say I've never had an experience like that before. I wish the party didn't stop and I will definitely be coming back specifically for Agus and of course the drinks!

I chose The Laurel based on the great reviews, not knowing much more about this place. Upon arriving, the parking lot was packed. I also had a difficult time getting in when walking from the parking lot, which is behind the restaurant. The issue here (which is my only negative about the entire dining experience) is if I were with a person with disabilities (as I am at times) who doesn't walk fast and we walked to what we "thought" was the entrance, only to find a sign saying to use the front door, but no arrow as to where that is (and keep in mind, I don't know the area, this place, never been here before) and if it were raining - This would have been a horrible way to start the dinner. PLEASE post a sign on the door with an arrow showing which way to go. Also, the door says it's for disable folks, but it's locked. OK - My griping aside... Coming in, I was quickly greeted and seated. The staff here was GREAT! Very engaging and VERY helpful! The menu here is AMAZING! Good thing it's a joint that specializes in small plates and that I was part of a group of three, it gave us the ability to try a bunch of items; seven, in fact and that's not including dessert! The flavors from their vegetarian and vegan dishes were so darn good, you don't miss the meat! Everything was plated beautifully and perfectly! We also placed our entire order (not desserts) all at once and they brought them out as they were made, which worked perfectly with our timing too. They not only have a full bar here, they have a "craft cocktail" quality bar! Upon walking in, one of the first things I noticed was their yellow chartreuse! Of course, next to this was green. So, when I sat down I asked about it, and my server told me how they were able to get this and so I ordered a Last Word, which came out SPOT-ON PERFECT! When it came to the food, some favs of ours - Their Watermelon Crudo - This looked and had the texture of tuna - AMAZING!! The Vegan Empanadas had amazing flavor and texture! I also liked their Stuffed Peppers - The "Samosa Potatoes" in them really hit nicely as well as the sauce on top. Save room for dessert, they have some great options here! We couldn't decide, so the 3 of us ordered 4! We tried their crème Brûlée, their Unbirthday cake, Tres Leches Tiramisu, and their Brûléed Cornbread. The Unbirthday cake was nice - reminded me of what it looks like, Funfetti! But their Brûléed Cornbread was AWESOME! Loved the crispy edges of the cornbread and the entirety of flavors. It wasn't until mid-meal that we really had a talk with our server about the amazingness of the food, the artfulness of it, as well as the attention to detail and creativity of the menu and that's when we learned that the chef here recently won an award for best chef in Connecticut! Well, now it's obvious - Why the parking lot was packed and why everything was so very good! Highly recommend stopping in - but make reservations!

But it wasn't their fault, I didn't realize that there were olives (in some form or another) pretty much in every single dish I ordered and I don't love olives. As in, whatever I saw, say fish or duck with something I wanted, so I just ordered it without reading the fine details of what were in the dish. So that was my fault, I am sure they would have either suggested things without olives, or told me what things the olives could've been removed from. I knew the service was good and the food was beautifully plated, I just didn't love the things we ordered that time. I saw a post on Instagram that they had a French toast with Ube sauce and I knew I needed to go! I fell in love with Ube in Seattle a couple of years ago and now anytime I see it near me, I have to go get it. I saw the post on a Saturday morning and jumped online and made a brunch reservation for 11:45 the same day! Everything we had was fantastic, rather than wanting a basic sausage or bacon to go with the French toast sticks. I ordered the Bella Bella wings as my protein to go with my Ube French toast, and they were fantastic. I also had to start with the watermelon Crudo, which was interesting, the flavors were excellent, but the texture of the watermelon did not resemble watermelon so it could throw you off if you're not at least a mildly adventurous eater. My husband had the prawn and grits and said it was fabulous and that he would order it again. I did not try it because the portion is not that big and the French toast was filling me up so I let him enjoy his own meal, and did share a couple wings with him and he agreed they were really good. The service was great again, and as simple as it sounds, I loved how when we were seated the hostess asked what kind of water we wanted, we did not have to wait for any period of time for a server to come over and ask us. The attention is in the details and that is always important. The cocktails were great, though a little pricey, which is on par for things in CT. We enjoyed them both at brunch and on our first dinner visit. We will be back, and I actually already prepaid for a dinner experience coming up with Filipino food and I'm excited for it! I have friends that went to the first one and said it was epic! So, while we usually go to brunch only if there are bottomless mimosas, this is one exception that will stay in our rotation! The restaurant is cute, intimate and clean.

We ordered a shrimp appetizer, gnocchi, fries, wine, and a white Cosmo to start. My absolute favorite was the grilled shrimp appetizer, even though the other two were very good as well. My friend's favorite was the gnocchi. From the regular menu, I ordered the ham and cheese croquettes and she ordered the regular cheese croquettes since she is vegetarian. We loved those as well. Chef's kiss to Jared and his inimitable staff!
