Oui oui! If you're in West Hartford and looking for a great brunch spot then you're in luck! I really wanted to gate-keep this gem but decided to share it to my Yelpers! Been here twice for brunch and it's been my favorite brunch spot of all times. Yes of all times! Even my picky teenagers enjoy the food here. Their French toast and roasted whole chicken is a must! These people know how to do it right! The French toast is bursting with flavor with the right amount of sweetness! Their menu changes so the last time we were here, they had a creme brûlée banana French toast that was truly amazing and this time it was the berry and walnut. Both were excellent so you can't go wrong! Then you must order the whole roasted chicken for only $32! This dish can easily feed a family of four. The chicken is super juicy and seasoned to perfection! The roasted potatoes and other vegetables balanced well with the chicken. We also ordered the steak and eggs and chateaubriand. The steak was tender and the soft cooked scrambled eggs melted in your mouth! The chateaubriand portion was large enough to share too. The crispy potatoes and mushrooms were my highlights for that dish. I truly love the food here. Yes even their French fries were delicious! Think of the better version of McDonald's fries! The decor is nice and bright which gives you that vibrant vibe. Service was amazing too! This restaurant can't be topped! Although it takes us two hours to get here, it's well worth it!
A friend and I met for brunch at le mazet recently and it was a pleasure, from start to finish. I had emailed the business in advance for clarification on the brunch menu and received a prompt, friendly response. I made a reservation for our visit and was seated promptly at a beautiful table near the front door. The entire dining area is gorgeous--so much attention to detail. Service throughout our meal was attentive and friendly. I had the boeuf bourguignon and it was so tender and seasoned perfectly. I also had the bread service, featuring sourdough from Small State Provisions--the perfect accompaniment to this hearty stew. We both drank Le Poney Roses, which were balanced and beautiful--a fabulous mocktail that really embodies the spirit of a cocktail. We weren't rushed at all and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I will be back for more!
I was looking for a good happy hour and this place does not disappoint! It's got food drinks and flavor all for a great price and portion size! Some things to note: Pay is credit card only, so make sure to bring one. Also the happy hour only is 2-5pm tuesday through friday so if you're out saturday through monday find somewhere else unless you want to pay full price. I honestly did not expect the amount of food I got, and I definitely could've gotten a lot less but each and every bite was delicious. I got 2 "demi-croques" which are essentially their elevated take on sandwiches. They were only $9 each and I honestly would have been satisfied with just one had I known what a great portion I would get. And it was a very nice touch that it came with a side of greens as well. Personally i preferred the croque monsieur (the one with ham) over the chicken one but to be able to sample both for a price less than the full sandwich was such a deal. Then, again because i thought it would be too little, i also got the "fries of death" which is their take on poutine. Absolutely delicious! The fries were well cooked but what really sets it apart is the delicious beef bourguignon that comes on top of it. Between that and the bechamel (which it could've had a little more of imo) they were the perfect side, and could really be a meal of their own. The wait staff were all very friendly, and there were plenty of seats both indoors, at the bar, and outdoors so all in all an excellent experience. Tldr; great food, flavor, portions, service, and most importantly price.
We had a great experience here and loved the whole vibe of the place. From the decor to meeting the owner while we were there! We came here for Sunday brunch and never felt rushed during our dining experience. The food was delicious and the drinks were great as well. Staff were very friendly and helpful when we were a bit indecisive about what we wanted. Definitely adding to my list of places to come back to again!
If you're looking to dine here on the weekend, I recommend making a reservation! This is such a beautiful restaurant. Everything we had was delicious & the service was fabulous. The steak frites was so so so good! We were obsessed with the potatoes. Can't wait to go back

First time here. Sat at the chefs counter. Great vibe and experience. Staff was awesome as was the food. I recommend the mushroom toast and the beef bourg.
I've walked by this place many times but finally decided to give it a try with my partner after making a reservation. We started with drinks, and I had the Cobra Fang, which was very good--off to a promising start. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. We ordered the seared tuna, which was both small in portion and significantly overcooked. On a brighter note, the gnocchi was a highlight--flavorful and paired with delicious mushrooms and a rich, creamy sauce. For the main course, we had the beef tenderloin, which ended up being the most disappointing part of the meal. The meat was dry, lacking flavor, and honestly reminded me of a basic cookout steak--not something you'd expect at this price point. Overall, the quality didn't match the cost, and I left feeling underwhelmed.

I recently headed there a couple of weeks ago to celebrate some february birthday's (mine included). Trying to find a spot that a group of foodies agrees on can be hard but when I mentioned Le Mazet (that I had yet to visit) - all responded with a resounding YES. I had been missing French cuisine since my visit in November but after visiting I know that I don't have to cross an ocean to get my fix. Everything - from the decor to the food to the staff was top notch. I loved the family style service and the fact that the dishes would be brought out when they were ready - which might not possibly all at once. It took the stress out of "waiting" and allowed us to enjoy the company of good friends on a cold evening. I ordered the Croque Monseur (with an egg of course) and the hubs ordered the chicken - we both raved about our meals although my husband wished the chicken came with a "sauce" All in all a wonderful meal and I can't wait to return as the weather warms to dine "AL FRESCO"

By round two, everyone at the table had one in hand. It's that good. Starters We began with the sourdough bread--although I firmly believe bread should be complimentary, I'll give them a pass here. It was fresh, tangy, and had that perfect crust. The harissa carrots were a standout. Slightly charred, beautifully seasoned, and served over a creamy yogurt sauce--absolutely divine. Then came the mushroom toast (a special, not on the regular menu). If you see it offered, order it. Two slices of sourdough topped with whipped ricotta and perfectly toasted, hearty mushrooms. This was the unanimous favorite of the night. I could've eaten this alone and left satisfied. Meh Moment We also shared the octopus, which was just okay. Slightly overcooked in my opinion, and while it wasn't bad, it didn't hold up compared to the other dishes. Would skip next time. Main Course The steak frites were stellar. Steak cooked to a perfect medium-rare, paired with crisp, perfectly salted fries (my kryptonite), and served with a velvety peppercorn sauce. A classic done incredibly well. Dessert We sampled a few: Strawberry rhubarb tart - Light, bright, with a graham cracker-style crust. Highly recommend. Coconut crème brûlée - Good, but personally I'm not a huge fan of coconut. Although I enjoyed a few bites, not my favorite. Coffee ice cream - Solid, but nothing extraordinary. If you're saving room for dessert, go with the tart. It stole the show. Final Thoughts From cocktails to mains to dessert, this spot delivers. Thoughtful dishes, balanced flavors, and an atmosphere perfect for a special evening. First time here...soft lighting, upscale feel. It reminds me of a French version of Barcelona (the restaurant). The cheese plate has skimpy portions of cheese and bread/crackers. The cheese was not memorable. The wild mushroom small plate was quite tasty, one of the better options we had. The beet salad was ok-beets too pickled. The carrots were meh. I would consider going back but it is not first on my list in West Hartford.
Everything was good, the server was lovely and very very jolly. The service and everything else was good including the food. Except the bone marrow... oh lord do not get that. It just wasn't good IMO
Easily a 5 star establishment. Do not sleep on Le Mazet! We've walked by so many times and I regret not trying this place sooner! Definitely need a reservation to get in on the weekend fyi! When we arrived we were seated at a beautiful booth. The interior is gorgeous here. Our server was fantastic I wish I remembered his name! He suggested some great items. We started with their steak frites and I cannot rave more about it! First this plate is definitely shareable. Among myself, my husband and young toddler we destroyed this. My daughter was eating so much of this steak and so were we! It was sooo tender and we loved the gravy on top. The fries were amazing and when they were drenched in that gravy it was chefs kiss! What really brought it all the together was the salad paired with it- it was light and refreshing and the dressing was so good! For dessert our server suggested the chocolate custard so we got that and a berry handpie. We ate both and kept saying "oh my god" with each bite. My daughter especially loved the chocolate custard but my husband and I loved both equally! We immediately said after our meal how we have to come back. We cannot wait to try other menu items and their cocktails next time. We are huge fans and will definitely be back!! read more
The coq au vin was not coq au vin because the chicken was not even braised in wine. I couldn't believe it when it came out that the chicken was oven baked separately and placed on top of the rest of the dish. There were also no carrots in the dish even though they are a staple of this dish and were listed on the menu. My husband ordered the heritage pork rib chop which was a huge portion. He liked the flavor of the pork, but wished for much more of the pomegranate balsamic. We weren't expecting the crispy parsnips to be fried, but they had a good flavor. While the pork was good, I don't plan on going back based on a complete lack of understanding of what a basic French dish is in that if the coq au vin. read more

We stopped in for a sister lunch date before catching a movie. Even though we didn't have reservations and the dining room was packed, we were happily offered bar seating or a high top. We chose the countertop seating and settled in. We kicked things off with some warm olives and the bacon apple Brussels sprouts, which were absolutely delicious! We then shared a flat iron steak with a side salad and fries. Overall, the meal was fantastic! While the service started off a little slow, the staff were genuinely nice and friendly. They even shared some info about the pre-fix menu for Valentine's Day, and we're definitely considering it since it looks really promising! read more

Had lunch with my husband here today it was perfect! The restaurant is very clean and beautiful a rustic Parisian vibe . We got lucky with their prefix meal for lunch. Everything was absolutely delicious. My personal favorite and my husband's favorite was the shrimp dish. The flavors of that sauce are incredible. Honestly wish we had saved some of our bread to scoop of that sauce at the end. The service was great attentive, but not down your throat. They paste it nicely, and we didn't feel rushed at all. This hidden gem, is a French inspired restaurant with delicious food and drinks. It is served family style with small plates for appetizers and large platters for entrees. To start we ordered a red blend of medium bodied wine and 2 small plates. The pesto and tomato gnocchi that melted in your mouth, and the fresh cantaloupe with burrata and salted prosciutto, that hinted that "still summer feeling in September". We had beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers in front of us at the chefs counter and were able to watch the rotisserie chicken being roasted while we waited for our dinner. To share, we chose the flat iron steak platter served with French fries and salad. Dessert was a coconut crème brûlée that we devoured and then we also enjoyed the espresso martinis along with it. Everything was divine and the service was excellent. The chef even stopped by to see how everything was and made it personable. An intimate experience with delicious food. Highly recommend. read more
Finally went to Le Mazet for a date night after hearing a lot about it. The inside is clean and lit well for a romantic night out-- for a small restaurant there was a good amount of bar seating as well. Service was alright for a busy weekday night, the server was very friendly with us but checked on us very little which was to be expected during dinner rush. We ordered the bone marrow for an appetizer and the duck sandwich for our mains, with a shared side of fries. The bone marrow was well seasoned and came with some char-grilled bread, it was enjoyable but not fully cooked through (don't know if this was intentional as I have never had french style before) so once you get to the middle of the bone, the marrow had the consistently of cold butter and was pink-white vs. the gelantinous, translucent cooked marrow I am used to. Though I probably would not order this dish again we still liked it for the most part. On the other hand, we LOVED the rich duck sandwiches and the perfectly balanced salad that comes with it. The fries were also great-- thin, crispy, and reminiscent of a very popular fast food chain's fries (in the best way). Overall a really great meal for a celebration or a date night, and I definitely want to come back to try their other dishes. read more

If you open up a new place in WH Center, you need to bring it. le Mazet has got it together. We stopped by without a reservation on a Saturday night and it was buzzing. But we were seated within 25 mins with a friendly warmth. The cocktails and wine were top shelf but let's talk dishes. The duck sandwich was incredibly good. One of the best we can remember in some time. Just moist duck filled with flavor. Comes with a nice butter greens salad that isn't that bitter. A little sweet in fact. The mussels were huge and well sourced. Big portion too. And can we talk about frites (or fries)? These were just classic fries that were perfectly cooked and seasoned. We just kept nibbling and nibbling.... And the tartes. We tried both the fig jam and prosciutto one as well as the French onion one. We liked both but we liked the onion just a little better as it was more savory than sweet. Just a wonderful meal in a cute interior. Oh and all this for about $100 total. A deal. Absolutely run to get over here. It's a great addition the Center. read more
We enjoyed a late dinner here on a Saturday outside on the patio. They've done a great job with the ambiance... tables, flowers, light fixtures, plates are all very cute. I love a restaurant that offers yummy vegetable dishes.. they are so under rated! The chickpea fries were thin and yummy, the brussels were flavorful and perfectly cooked, and a new menu item just this week of harissa carrots with whipped ricotta, honey, and pistachio needs to stay on the menu, so delish! Omg love love loved this little French bistro! Came here for lunch with my cousin. There were so many great choices on the menu but we decided to go with the 2-course special for $21!?! We both went with the warm mushrooms and beef stew. Each dish was super yum. The mushrooms were creamy and seasoned perfect. The beef stew was very tender and rich. We made 8p.m. reservations for Le Mazet's New Year's Eve 4 course special menu. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and tastefully decorated. The setting is intimate while also feeling relaxed and welcoming. We were given complimentary champagne to start along with a potato skin with pate and cavier appetizer. Delicious. For our first course we had the Casear salad and the winter citrus salad. Both were colorful, fresh and full of wonderful flavors and textures. Next we had the French onion agnolotti and the duck tatarlette. The agnolotti dish was a rich taste sensation with gruyere, prosciutto and croutons. Absolutely decadent. The tartalette with cranberry and au jus was an amazing creation of moist and slightly sweet shredded duck atop a perfectly flaky pastry. For the main courses we chose the Beef Wellington and the lamb rack with potatoes pave and broccolini. The presentations of these dishes were outstanding. The lamb was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. The potatoes pave were delectable. The Beef Wellington was tender and also perfectly cooked and the au jus was luxuriously rich. Dessert was gingerbread creme brulee and chocolate crepes! Both were amazing. All portions of every dish were generous. It is obvious that these dishes were carefully and expertly created and prepared with complete focus and attention to every last detail. It was one of the best meals we have ever had and was the perfect way to ring in the new year. We also thoroughly enjoyed our after dinner digestifs, the Mandarin Napoleon, and the time the owner, Patrick, took to come to our table to discuss his choices and recommendations ( and samples) of both aperitifs and digestifs we might consider trying. We met a family who frequently dine at Le Mazet and they recommended some must try dishes from the regular menu. They had nothing but high praises. It was a very special night night of culinary delights and we most highly recommend and will be returning. They've got all the classics--rotisserie chicken that's perfectly tender, crispy pomme frites, and even caviar for a touch of luxury. What went well? Everything! Love this place conveniently located in West Hartford center. Started with bread service and gnocchi- gnocchi were superb and not your typical ones either. Cubed and served with spring peas, green onions and béchamel sauce. Our main was steak frites which was super tender. Dessert was a hard choice but the pistachio flan was delicious. All their plates are shareable which makes it all the more fun. Ambiance is euro. Service was stellar. read more
YUM! What a great meal - we only planned on going for an app or 2 to try things out and had a whole lot more than expecting! We ordered the tinned scallops, the fig and Brie tart, the bone marrow, and Dutch baby (not picture) and the chocolate torte for dessert. Everything was so good and felt like home French cooking. My boyfriend said the tart was one of the best things he's ate in a long time - and we go out to eat a lotttt! The bone marrow had that perfect buttery texture with a good amount of salt and the Dutch baby with homemade butter - myyy! - so so good. We weren't the biggest fan of the tinned scallops but we wanted to try something new knowing that might be the case so it was probably an ordering mess up on our part. I can here on a Thursday night and they were super busy! There were only 2 tables available inside a a few outside. The interior is super cozy and very cute. The service was amazing! Dishes came out as they were ready and it was very quick. The food was hit or miss. The bone marrow was very good, but our bone was rather shallow. The fig and onion tart was good, but a little too crusty for me. The chickpea fries were huge! They were fun and I would get them again. We got two sandwiches (the duck and chicken) both were good and came with a salad! It felt hearty. Two tables next to us got the "individual" cheese plate and it was huge! Our server explained individual is really for 2. Overall a great experience and I would definitely come back! I would probably bring a few more people to try more items! read more
A wonderful recent addition to the WeHa scene. Typical close table set up inside with a nice patio area as well. The menu is French inspired and thoughtfully put together for patrons of various tastes including vegetarian and gluten free options. We had a lunch consisting of a beet salad appetizer, a melted cheese and mushroom sandwich as well as a pulled duck sandwich. Each of the sandwiches came on an upscale roll with a very generous and interesting side salad. The service was friendly and efficient and our waitress even had a French accent....real or not, it was fun. read more
