We have been here numerous times and have had a good experience every time. The food is excellent, fresh and interesting. There's always something we are excited to check out when we haven't been in a while. The restaurant is both nice enough that you feel really good bringing your out of town friends here to try and impress while also being low-key enough for a simple date night with your significant other. They have a few non-alcoholic drink options. As someone who's living the sober lifestyle, it's always nice to see that. The restaurant is well managed and well maintained. Always clean, servers seem invested. It doesn't hurt to make a reservation if you're coming on a Friday or weekend night. Chicken is the star of the show here, and we almost always order that with some of the ala carte sides, but my wife also likes to grab something else off the menu and I'll usually sneak a bite. We've never had anything that fell below expectations. read more

We've watched to try Rooster & Co for awhile now, based on so many good gluten free reviews both on findmegf and Yelp. However, we were hesitant because nothing gluten free is denoted on the menu, or the order online feature. We gave it a try and called on a Thursday afternoon, and were assured the fryer and everything was gluten free! The bartender and waitstaff are super knowledgeable about allergen procedures and very friendly. We ordered the calamari, the fried chicken, and the Mac n cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious. The calamari was cooked perfectly, even after driving it home. The chicken was great. The Mac and cheese was really good, but if you're not big of truffle, it might be a little strong! I'd been wanting to try Rooster Company in Newington for literally years, so maybe I had it hyped up in my head, but honestly, it was just ok... The vibe was just okay...nothing that really stuck with me. I actually had to look back at my photos to remember the space. On the plus side, the back patio looked inviting, and I loved the quirky touch of a burger on the menu just for dogs. Before the meal, they brought out a little rooster-shaped cookie, which was actually delicious. As for the main food, the chicken was just okay, which surprised me since I believe chicken is their signature. What was off? It needed seasoning. The kid burger was fine, but I could tell it wasn't a fresh, hand-shaped patty but more like frozen boxed burger. Nothing special there. The service was okay; more transactional than friendly. The place was definitely steady for a weekday night, and the bar was packed, so it clearly has a following. But overall, for me, it landed in the middle...not bad, not great. Based on this experience, I'd probably try somewhere new before going back to explore more of their menu. read more

Rooster co In newington is one of my favourite places to eat in newington ! They have nice seats inside and great outdoor seating ! It's very family friendly and dog friendly which I love ! All the food is always amazing especially the truffle fries and truffle Mac and cheese are my favourites ! Today we got the buffalo cauliflower , buffalo and honey bbq wings , and the calamari for our appetizers. everything was amazing , the buffalo cauliflower especially was really good ! Would def recommend! For my entree I got the summer salad which contained arugula , watermelon, almonds and lemon dressing and I added the grilled chicken ! The salad was really good and refreshing with the watermelon! I especially liked the lemon dressing ( not too sour but can definitely get that lemon taste ) very good ! Also side note their entrees are usually huge portions and very sharable ! The service is always good our waitress was very nice and got all our orders correct ! We recently hosted a dinner for 20 at Rooster and all family members had a wonderful experience. Kayla was great in advance helping me plan the event and was a great communicator. The private space in the rear of the restaurant was welcoming and comfortable. Josh (I hope I remembered the name right) provided us attentive personalized service, especially with the bar orders. Last but not least, the food was terrific! Kudos to the kitchen for getting our food out to the buffet table at the exact time requested. Went in for their brunch menu which was pretty extensive in great options. I opted for the croissant sandwich which was good but could have used some salt and pepper in the egg itself but nonetheless a delicious bite. The service was great, even though our waiter had a large party he managed his time well and never felt like we were forgotten. Super cute inside and plenty of room. First let me say rooster has no mention of gluten free on their menu, but all of their fried chicken is gluten free and in a separate fryer!!!! It's also moist and crispy!! We got the half fried chicken with Parmesan sauce and it did not disappoint! The parm sauce is a bit small so maybe as for 2. We also got the Mac n cheese which has truffle oil in it, and while not a strong taste, has a very strong scent! Lastly, the calamari, which was gluten free, crisp, and fried wonderfully, served with a zingy lemon sauce!!! It was confusing that there were whole red pepper rings, but that's different than most that have the spicy peppers. read more

You are guaranteed a casual yet elevated, dining experience when you walk in to this establishment. It is obvious that the owners, managers and chefs take great care and great pride in giving you the best possible meal at a very reasonable price. I'm not going to go into specific entrées because I've had several and every one of them is done right. The apps are also fantastic and obviously the chicken is spot on. We arrived at 3:30pm to Rooster & Co, when it was not busy and it took approximately 30 minutes for our food to arrive, which was disappointing... and the traffic outside was VERY loud at times! I'm happy to say the rocky start didn't define the entire experience. The star of the show was the Crispy Broccoli!!! Oh my goodness ~ I would come back just to order those! If you try the Rooster, I'm telling you to order them. You will not be disappointed. I ordered the Crispy Salmon Wrap, which I'm not happy to report was a little fishy and not at all crispy. After adding some of my SIL's Goddess dressing to it, I was able to enjoy it. The fries did arrive lukewarm... but were the thin crispy kind that I know would be amazing if served hot. The complaints stop there... Look At That Goddess Salad! I'm a big time salad eater (was just feeling a little naughty that day), and definitely had salad envy! My brother enjoyed his fried chicken too and it was a generous portion. It was super nice being able to have my furry niece Lacey with us. A trip to the restroom allowed me a peek at their "Cheers-like" bar. All in all I thought The Rooster was a good choice and would be happy to go there again. read more

The black ceiling was a nice touch Side note: there is a ramp when you come in the front door so it is handicap accessible! I love Rooster. One of my favorite places to eat in Newington. The food is always fantastic, good portions, professional staff. I appreciate the events that happen there. They do take out & have a bar. Overall, very good establishment. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it can get a little tight when busy & it isn't always the cleanest. It is a small place, which can make it hard to clean when there are many customers. Last time I was there, there was a pile of chicken wing bones under my chair as my party arrived to the table..... I've been here twice for Sunday brunch in the last few months. During my first visit, my friend and I both had the Popeyes omelette, but replaced the blue cheese with goat cheese. It was so good! We both loved it. We ordered cappuccinos, and those were good, too. We shared the spicy cornbread and that was so yummy! The service was good and friendly both times. During our second visit, we both tried something different. She had the American breakfast and I had the eggs Benedict. While they were okay, we both wished we had ordered the Popeye again. My eggs Benedict was good, but the pork belly was way too tough and hard to chew. Our cappuccinos didn't taste as good as the previous visit. I would go again, but probably stick to the tried and true Popeye omelette. read more

We were missing a utensil set which my husband had to go to the hostess stand to get. Received our appetizer of hummus. Wanted to order additional slices of flat bread to finish it up....had to stop the runner. Didn't get that bread until after our mains were delivered..sat the entire time with nothing to eat the hummus with. Ordered a coffee which never arrived. I so much want to like this place! I've visited several times and each time it has not meet standard expectations. The brunch today was LOUD, I mean LOUD!! High volume DJ, resulting in people yelling across their tables. Wow! And, the food is never great, passable at best. My eggs (huervos rancheros) were overcooked (hard!) and should never have left the kitchen. My friend's sammie had very fatty meat (monte Cristo) and she had to pull a lot of it out from between the bread so she could at least chew what was left. The potatoes were almost gret-black color that looked questionable. Mixed drinks are the weakest drinks I've ever had anywhere in the area. Just not a great place if you are any kind of foodie or enjoy a more hospitable restaurant. It's a hard pass from now on. read more

Was in the mood for some chicken, so what better place to choose? Being my first time at Rooster Co. I was pleasantly greeted with the aroma as soon as I walked in the door. I was also greeted by chickens everywhere! A nice fireplace was lit in one corner by the cozy bar and we were seated on the opposite dining area. Our server was super nice and offered suggestions while we browsed the menu. I went with my niece so we decided to share and try a little bit of everything. We started with a side of crispy Brussels and the lychee cocktail. For our main dish we had the half chicken with the creamiest Mac and cheese and cornbread with this amazing pimento cheese. Everything was amazing, even down to the dipping sauces which were a cola bbq and hot honey truffle. We also had the chicken parm sandwich with truffle fries. And of course can't forget dessert!! I ordered a cappuccino and had to try the potato chip brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel that was very decadent. Good job Rooster Co! Very disappointed. We were there a few years ago, and had the same problem - the crispy chicken in the Caesar salad was tough and dry - hard to cut with a knife. I had to pick up the pieces and their them with my teeth. You think a place called Rooster Co. should know how to fry a chicken breast filet without ruining it. It's really easy to do it right - it's hard to screw it up. The cook should be using a thermometer since eyeballing it is not working. We won't be back. read more
