I was so pleased with the quality of food and the ambience at Union kitchen! The tables were spaced fairly far apart, so there was plenty of room to feel like it was a lively atmosphere without being overcrowded! There was a nice big table right near the window for our whole family. The service was friendly and all of the dishes were very creative and delicious! Well standouts were the vegetable pot pie with an amazing layered crust, and all of the desserts! We would happily return to have a meal with family or to celebrate a special occasion!
My first time actually having dinner here after previously coming for our lunch or brunch only. Inside the car is perfect for a date night or if you want to do a nice gathering with your friends. We start at the happy hour where they had plenty of drink options and different food items. Their wings were delicious and came with a blue cheese dressing that really liked. Some of the people in our party got the margarita and an old-fashioned. Both were very well liked. They had some many versions of their dinner entrées on the happy hour menu so we are glad to try them. We also enjoyed the chicken Katsu sandwich as well as the potatoes. The steak frites was new so we were excited to try it. Because we were sharing they were nice enough to separate it into two plates. I highly recommend this restaurant!
We stopped in for a quick bite during the Holiday Stroll. Me and my friend we both ordered the burgers and drinks. Our burgers were perfect and our waitress was really nice. She noticed I didn't like the first drink that I ordered and offered to bring another one which was a margarita this time. ( fig and pepper I believe) . Very tasty and perfect to warmed you up. The ambience was nice, a little bit noisy but a really nice experience overall. I would definitely return.
Came on a Thursday night in November without a reservation and sat in the bar at a high top. The bar is cute. Service was good, food was decent not amazing.
Have been wanting to try here for a long time. Finally went and it was great overall! Our server was very nice, cool vibe inside for sure. The space is open with a high ceiling so it does get loud when it's busy. The apps we had were so good! I was very impressed by the pork belly, and the presentation was 10/10. Entree was also good, I had the half chicken. Loved how saucy it was and chicken was very juicy. The drinks I got were just okay.Performative margarita really just tasted like tequila and sour mix to me. Wasn't crazy about espresso martini either. My husband's cocktail was very good, the Incan garden, great use of flavors! Same to the float like a butterfly, so tasty!
Went here for brunch with some friends. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant! Food was pretty good - I got the eggs benedict and my friends said the omelets were good too. Nothing blew us away but definitely think a reliable option for classic brunch foods
I've been wanting to get up here to dine and it only seemed fitting to start the New Year off right with Union Kitchen's fried chicken and champagne brunch. New Year's Eve dinners/New Year's day brunch specials, in my experiences, have always been a cash grab by restaurants where you would get a decent meal but always leave hungry or the opposite where the price was super extravagant yet food was mediocre at best. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE!!! Food was amazing. Chicken was spiced and fried to perfection. Crunchy without being greasy. I refuse to eat fried chicken in public yet almost human eating this with people around. Juicy meat, 4 piece of half breast, wing, thigh and drummy all meaty. Sides of picked pepper mac&cheese and Cole slaw. My wife tore into that coleslaw like her life depended on it and was everything she's been looking for in a slaw Breakfast burrito was packed full of goodness, substantial. Side of potatoes which could've been a meal in of itself. $19 and well worth it. Brought half home for breakfast the next day. All in all, not only was their value in the prices offered throughout the menu, the food is incredible. Service was amazing. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, good eye for when we needed something without us having to ask. Perfect start to the new year and aching to come back for dinner. It was worth staying home NYE and falling asleep early in order to be fresh and ready for this dining experience.
If I could give union kitchen more stars I would. We made a reservation on a whim just to try a new spot for dinner while we're up in west Hartford and I'm mad we didn't come here sooner. Their tasting menu is absolutely worth spending the money on for 6 courses plus an amuse. We started off with a raw oyster topped with sturgeon caviar and was the perfect amount of briney. Next course was a seared diver scallop with fennel. The scallop had the perfect sear. Next was the foie gras course. It practically melted in your mouth. The dish had the perfect amount of sweet and saltiness to pair with the smoothness of the foie gras. The pasta course was a mortadella mousseline agnolotti. If I could order this one dish everyday, I absolutely would. It was no doubt the best pasta I've ever had. The saltiness from the cheese was the perfect touch to the mousseline that you savored in every bite. The fish course was a striped bass over jasmine rice and paired with a curry sauce. It was flavorful with a good amount of spice. The meat course was a dry bed New York strip with layered potatoes. I could lick the sauce off the plate it was so good!and lastly, after all that food was a chocolate tart with a mascarpone whip accompanied by a caramel sauce.it was rich, smooth, creamy and the perfect way to end the night. Overjoyed and satisfied is an understatement with this experience. It was truly one of the best tasting menus we've ever had. We're looking forward to returning very very soon!

We had the apps i included in the pictures and they were pretty filling for apps, especially the brussels and pork belly. The pork belly was so good. The bartender was attentive. We need to come back for dinner for sure to get the full experience.

It wasn't extremely packed when we got there around 730pm On a Friday but people started to come later and it definitely got busier. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful providing suggestions! If you are GF , there is definitely limited choices for dessert ! I had the Montenegro Ice cream. I'm Not sure if it was suppose to be soft like a shake but separately the Montenegro liquor was served to be poured over the ice cream. It was very good. My friends had drinks and a Warm Brownie. Menu has lots to choose from but if you are looking for sliders and wings this is not the place. Perfect date nite restaurant!
My friend and I went to Union Kitchen for Happy Hour. We sat at the bar. Union Kitchen is a nice place for a first date, it isn't too noisy and it has a very upscale look and feel. I got the Buckstar cocktail, this was so unique and so delicious! This is a vodka based cocktail, with mint, cacao, and citrus. It is lemonade yellow, crisp and juicy with back notes of cacao. What a drink! For food, my friend got their house bolognese, and I got the Whipped Ricotta Toast. The bolognese was very fresh and was topped with the just right amount of parmesan. My whipped ricotta toast came on two tiny pieces of toast, but this ricotta was pouffy like perfect little clouds. There was a coat of sweet apricot jam on my toast. Finally, it was topped with balsamic and pine nuts. Wow! This was such a pleasant play on my taste buds! I was so happy with my first visit to Union Kitchen. My drink was unique and delicious and my ricotta toast was so delectable and tasty. My friend also enjoyed her pasta and her cocktail. I'm looking forward to returning here again soon!
I had brunch here with the family and thought the French toast was alright. It could've been fluffier, and both the toast and fruit felt a little soggy. My mom had the soup and it was okay. We wished it was more flavorful and creamier. The service was a little weird, they kept asking us if we had a reservation. Overall the outside was nice, but would recommend eating somewhere else for brunch.
Got a reservation at 5 for Monday night and we're the only customers here for the first 1/2 hour until a group of gal friends met at the bar and livened things up. Beautiful ambience, classy, quiet music in the background. Molly our server was friendly, attentive, and helped us especially with selecting our dessert. We ordered the old fashioned and Negroni from the happy hour menu to start with. They were so delicious that my husband went to talk to the bartender to find out how the particulars of how the Negroni was concocted. We ordered the baby gem Caesar salad and chicken katsu sandwich from the happy hour menu and the steak frites from the dinner menu which comes with skinny fries and arugula salad, Everything was well seasoned and delicious. To top it all off we shared a chocolate chip bread pudding (thanks for the recommendation, Molly!) Super happy with the whole dining experience. 5/5 read more

Like a moth drawn to the light, I was attracted to this restaurant walking by. I love an upscale vibe - and a restaurant that takes care to craft a comfortable atmosphere usually means my patronage will mean an evening spent well, and this place delivered! Most notably, the food was especially delicious and full of flavor and texture, albeit salt being a bit heavy on the pallet, but not overbearing so. Good date night location! read more

This place was on my list for a while, it had a good brunch menu with a variety of options. I loved my omelette was pretty filling and had a good amount of salad on the side. The orange juice was also very good. The place was super cute for a nice brunch on the weekend. I would say the service was good but it took a while for out bill to come and get picked up. read more

My friend and I visited this restaurant for the first time, instantly had good energy and a pleasant atmosphere. Classy ambiance, no loud music, the lighting was just right (not too harsh). Staff were friendly, and warmly welcoming us. The waiter even offered her services to take a photo for us, which was very thoughtful and appreciated. Everything we ordered from this resturaunt was a 10/10, matched our expectations. The food description was perfectly described as what it tasted with its high quality ingredients and artistic plates. We were highly satisfied, and did not leave with empty stomachs, but with empty plates. We look forward to ordering more foods off the menu, and to see friendly faces with a personable attitude once again, for our next visit. Highly recommend if you are in the West Hartford center location. They also offer private seatings/parties as well for bigger groups. Thank you Union Kitchen! read more

3 stars for the food.which was Excellent! It came out quickly though they weren't very busy considering it was brunch. We arrived around a 1130 fairly empty, we sat at the bar and I love the aesthetic. However, our bartender Ian did not greet us or come to us, I had to ask for menus, and ask for to take our order and when my cousin asked if they had cappuccino or coffee his response was "didn't you just have coffee" (my cousin came in with a coffee which she threw out she just didn't see trash can outside as I myself had an empty water bottle and didn't see any place to throw it out before entering) regardless he was inattentive and rude. I hate leaving crap reviews but service is key part of service industry. I have gone to places with bad food or mediocre but return because the staff and people are amazing. Lastly, I wouldn't order mixed drink from there... he made drinks and kept taking mixer spoon from this dirty cup (see pic). read more
I haven't been here in a while and heard they changed their menu so I decided to pop in for happy hour. The food was overall good. We ordered half of the menu and the highlights were the Chicken Katsu Sandwich and the Whipped Ricotta Toast! The whipped ricotta toast came with balsamic and pine nuts. It was a great combo! The wings were good but SPICY and I loved the dipping sauce they came with. I also got an Off The Clock to drink and it was amazing! I would definitely come back here for HH. On a side note my favorite dish used to the be the braised short rib over a cavatelli mac n cheese which is sadly no longer on the menu. read more

I've been a few times now for brunch and it's amazing each and every time. Today I had the Asian Inspired Breakfast Burrito. I subbed French French from the breakfast potatoes because their fries are amazing shoestring style fries. My table shared the French toast. It was delicious. read more
Very friendly staff, a diverse and adventurous menu, as well as quick turn around time from ordering. Came in with a large group and they were able to handle us just fine and also move food in and out quickly. The lobster risotto was quite the treat. The chili oil was the difference maker in this dish. Turning it from another ordinary risotto, into something fun and different. Coming from North Carolina, I've had my share of phenomenal bread pudding. The white chocolate that is incorporated into this pudding adds the extra kick needed to solidify a dessert as the last bite. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars rather than 5 is because I found several of their drinks rather disappointing, but to each their own, you might actually enjoy them. Definitely give this place a try! read more
Came for Easter Brunch. Menu seemed small and uninspired particularly for the Easter and Brunch Menus, but my parents picked it and we just went along with it. My wife and I split a wedge salad which was very good, particularly because of the fried onion strings. She got fish and chips. Fish was well fried, but bland and the truffle fries were very undercooked. I got a ham and egg special with Brussels hash. Ham was good, but the eggs were dry and the hash which was all potatoes and almost no Brussels was undercooked as well. My dad had biscuits and gravy and my mom had the frittata of the day, both of which they liked a lot. read more
Went here for the first time for brunch and had a great experience. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and chic (unfortunately don't have any pictures) and we were promptly seated. I was really impressed by their attentive service, and I was very satisfied with our brunch order-- the pork belly and fennel appetizer and two fried chicken sandwiches. The food was fresh and hot, the chicken juicy on the inside and crisp and well seasoned on the outside, and the fries and side salad were simple but delicious. We also ordered the magic moment and smithstreeter cocktails and were very impressed. A great place for a date or an outing with friends-- and worth the high price. read more
My husband took me here on a Saturday night to try out their tasting menu, which I didn't even realize this place offered! What a fantastic experience it was. He made a reservation for 5:30pm and good thing too because the place filled up very fast. The tasting menu consisted of 5 courses and even came with a wine pairing. I'm currently pregnant so was even more excited when they said they did a non-alcoholic pairing with kombucha and mocktails as well. The food was delicious and everything well made. I would add that the options were also pretty great rather than just having a set menu. Our waitress was extremely friendly and checked on us often, and the person that brought us the pairing beverages was also clearly knowledgeable. I definitely recommend a stop in, especially for the tasting menu! read more
Popped in for happy hour earlier this week and had a great experience ! It was our second spot so we didn't have a lot to eat but really enjoyed what we had. Hubby got a chicken sandwich and I had the summer zucchini pasta dish. Bar has interesting liquors to make exotic drinks. Cant wait to get back and try more things read more
I'm surprised we haven't reviewed Union Kitchen earlier since we've frequented it a few times. I believe this is the first dinner meal we've had since we usually pop by for some amazing cocktails. And the amazing cocktails experience continues to be consistent! Let's start with the beautiful liquor wall and amazing bar service. Nothing pleases me more when I can hand the reins over to a bartender to ask for a "bartenders choice" cocktail and it delivers! Being a tequila girl, he proceeded to make a unique tequila martini and it was fabulous. The small bites we had were equally amazing. Melding together some of my favorite food groups, including a savory mushroom type pudding, some cauliflower au gratin, and a chicken Katsu sandwich. All of these were savory, a little sweet and just a perfect hearty pairing for such small plates. Compliments to the chef. Union kitchen is one of the notable epicenters were locals and visitors come to congregate and mingle. If you are curious about a proper cocktail experience with a bit more subtlety and laid-back ambience definitely stop on by. read more

Might be my new local cocktail place. They make a perfect Aviation! Service was great at a high too for 6 last Friday night. I was surprised we walked in and got a table. The bar is one of the prettiest I've seen! The dark lighting gives it a cozy feel, especially on a winter evening. I give a 4 star review for some great food, but some just ok. The surprise star of the evening was the mushroom appetizer. You do not have to be a vegetarian to find this delectable and full of flavor over the egg custard its served with. Those who ordered the burgers loved it. The arctic char was cooked nicely but I found the portion to be quite small, especially of the sides it came with. The pork belly lacked flavor, and we were disappointed that the calamari had quite a bit of fried cauliflower mixed in. I'll definitely go back and try happy hour with some more apps. Perhaps brunch would be good to try too! read more
On a prior visit I was pretty critical of the service. Thankfully that seems to have resolved itself. We came here on a a gorgeous weekend night. Sat outside next to live music through the window. Service was really great. Even better though was the food. Each dish was delicious. I got the halibut. No complaints here rethought I would've liked a vegetable with it. The dumplings were spot on and I loved the cocktail I got too. Glad to see this place get its act together. read more
