My check total was $36.75 and somehow with tax my total was $41.35. Food was good and the service from the staff is also fine, but the math does not add up.

Classic diner we always enjoy. Be advised the breakfast specials posted are no longer offered. It was a little disappointing since the things while not on the bar were still within site so we assumed they were still offered - switched to the western omelette this time and enjoyed but now that specials are discontinued bang for buck the best thing IMO on the menu is the BEC sandwich

Had breakfast here w/ the wife this morning, we were 1st Timers to the Makris Diner. Booths are a bit tight, I am a "Big Guy", so I was slightly uncomfortable during the meal. I ordered pancakes w/ a side of sausage, my wife had a bacon, cheese & tomato omelet w/ home fries. Meals came out after a short time. My pancakes were bland, not that exciting. My wife's omelet was decent, she liked it, but the home fries were burnt (she did ask for them to be "well-done", but these were burnt). Service was good, staff is friendly and they came around several times to re-fill our coffees. Men's bathroom was clean. Overall, my impression is that this place is your average Greek diner, don't really see a reason for a return visit. A weak 3 Star rating, IMO.

This is an extremely basic diner, nothing good, nothing bad, nothing special, it's nothing. When I walked in from the back it was extremely sketchy and then you finally walk into the dining area and it was almost exactly what you'd expect from a diner. As for the food I had an egg, ham, cheese and green pepper sandwich for 5$ which is nice but nothing special at all but it was pretty good. Waitress was kind but also exactly what you'd expect. Nice but there's not much else to say about this place at all. Since there wasn't anything bad except it was boring, I give 3 stars. I highly recommend Olympia Diner and The Sloppy Waffle further down the road.

I hate writing bad reviews but this place really was a pretty terrible experience. For starters, the waitress basically ignored us. It took 15 minutes just to get waters... Then a giant ant started crawling all over me. Finally after a long wait, our food finally gets there. I ordered the vegetarian omelette and my boyfriend got the philly cheese steak omelette. He ordered his with pepper jack cheese but it came with American cheese instead. Both omelettes were okay. The toast wasn't buttered and the home fries were really bland and not at all crispy. I was very eager to get out of there at that point so we got up, paid the bill at the register and left. As we were driving away we realized the bill was $31 but all we got was a $9 veggie omelette, an $11 philly omelette, and one coffee.... That should have totaled to around $23. But at that point we didn't want to turn around and fight them, so it is what it is. We will certainly not be going back there though.

Beautiful, clean "retro"look with modern appointments

This diner may look like your average drive-by diner, but it is truly an oasis, not to be passed up! Located at the top of the Berlin Turnpike in Newington, it is easy to find. It's one of those stainless steel dining car diners that bring you back to to the 1900's - with clean, modern upgrades (see the photo). Breakfast and lunch are served until 3 p.m. Prices are great, food is fantastic, and best of all (as should be the case for all dining establishments), the coffee is is amazing! The menu is very easy to navigate, the food is always fresh and plentiful, and the staff treat you like family; in fact, after the 1st or 2nd visit, you are greeted by name! Whether a "regular" or a new customer, you are made to feel welcomed and are well taken care of. They also play great music in the background! There are many diners in this area, but this is my favorite place to enjoy the food and company, and just to sit and relax as I go through my day. Stop by and enjoy!

The best coffee in the state.

Kens is a small breakfast place in glastonbury, and there always seems to be a line out the door (for a good reason). Once inside tho, the waitresses and busboys are always super friendly. I love that the waitresses always stop by for a quick chat when they see you. The eggs benedict is super amazing here. Actually everything is but thats my fav. French toast super amazing too, especially when they have the egg nog French toast on special. They always have two flavored coffee options which i love. And the home fries are always well seasoned and crispy on the outside and oft in the middle. The only downside really to kens is the wait which sometimes goes out the door. They don't take reservations and they don't have a sign in, so it kinda sucks for someone like me with Rheumatoid arthritis because I cant stand for very long, so we cant go on the weekends. But we went twice during the week this week and the wait was very short. So if you want a great breakfast at a decent price, nice wait staff, and you're near glastonbury, Kens is a place to check out for sure!

I love the atmosphere and the menu was designed by Sue herself, so we were able to get the best recommendations. Lots of omelets, French toasts, wraps, etc. All the food was amazing, but a common complaint I heard from the group was that the sandwiches were a bit dry or needed a sauce to push it to great. Definitely check this out. Be prepared for a wait and a deliciously good time.

The staff was friendly during my visit, and I didn't run into any issues service-wise. I'll be honest...I'm not the biggest fan of pre-made sandwiches that have been sitting for a bit, and unfortunately the sandwich I tried didn't really wow me. I was expecting a little more flavor, especially from the turkey. I didn't try a pizza slice, though I was told it's good. The pastries, however, were a highlight. The Dubai tart was flavorful but on the drier side for my taste (definitely needed some milk). The pumpkin croissant was very light and airy--absolutely loved that one. Drink-wise, the tiramisu latte with oat milk was tasty and a solid 7.5/10. The strawberry lemonade with boba was just okay for me--nothing fancy, but I'd be open to trying a different drink next time. Overall, the ambiance was really cute. A nice mix of people working on laptops and groups catching up, which made the space feel cozy and inviting. Definitely a lovely spot and worth checking out at least once.

Secondly, the latte, cocktail & mocktail options are amazing, along with the many many options of food. I've heard that food from restaurants with large menus are mediocre...this DOES NOT apply here. My party of 2 tried breakfast & lunch options. Both were fresh & so flavorful, especially that homemade syrup I had with the French Egg Holes & Cinnamon Roll Pancakes (3). The home fries came out & were seasoned to perfection. Also, not 1 hard potato to be found. The over medium egg in my thick french toast was actually medium! And they gave me the wholes that were cut from the center of the bread. The pancakes were so fluffy & the icing delish. Tasted exactly like a cinnamon roll. We also ordered 2 different mimosas. The cranberry & the classic. Both were made crispy cold, with quality juices & came garnished. The Salted Cinnamon Mocha Latte, was velvet. It wasn't overly sweet, it wasn't watery or overly bold. I was surprised about how tall the cup was...I drank all of it. It wasn't served scorching hot, so I could sip right away. The Greek Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup was lovely. Typically, soup is watery & looks like it was the last bits, but this had chunky meat, the broth had flavor with hints of lemon. You could see the herbs. This didn't scream, I'm from a can at all. The service was also nice & the waitresses didn't mind that we couldn't make our decisions right away. She & her counterpart offered suggestions & were very kind with checking on us. At the end of the meal, we couldn't help but order some take home from the lunch menu for later. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

The meeting was exactly two minutes away from Bob's, so when I rolled into Bob's at a quarter to nine, saw a near empty dining room, I figured I'd have plenty of time to have a coffee, enjoy a bagel, and go through my meeting notes. Oops, that wasn't what happened. Truth be told, I made my meeting with seven minutes to spare. After I ordered, I waited for quite a while and looked up from my notes to see what was going on. I saw two servers and the manager engaged in a serious conversation about something. My server caught my eye and ran over to the kitchen, and I clearly heard her say something like "where's that egg on a bagel?". It was evident that the order hadn't even made its way to the kitchen yet. Eventually my breakfast sandwich did arrive, and the server offered some sort of an apology for the delay and communication breakdown. Now, as I said, Bob's was pretty empty today, so that made the service breakdown hard to understand. I certainly hope they do a better job on their busy weekends. Anyway, my server was pleasant, and I did appreciate her apology. The sandwich and coffee were fine, and the bill came to just $7. Will I be back next month? I doubt it.
