Cromwell Diner has friendly speedy service and is a perfect spot for breakfast lunch and even dinner. The diner is open until 8pm and serves a wide variety of delicious meals. You can get your classic eggs bacon french toast or a BLT Club with fries.. AND of course my little needed some chicken nuggets. Don't forget the mimosas! They've got beer and wine too. I love the busy atmosphere and that it is family friendly.

It's a great diner in Connecticut. The waffles from Belgium are good, you can add butter and syrup and to put sugar on the unsweetened iced tea to make it taste like Gold Peak. They made the food very good and fresh. It's pretty epic. Also, that diner is fire!

    My "Exorcist/I mean California omelet"

We tried this as an alternative to another local diner and so sorry we did! My "California omelet" came out cold with lumps of hard old bacon inside and cold avocado, resembling something from the Exorcist. My toast was burnt too. Good thing I don't live in the area so I don't make a mistake and come back.

I love this diner. The breakfast menu offers some nice additions that you wouldn't expect to see at a diner. Everything had a fresh taste. The wait staff was friendly and conversational. I didn't have to request any refills for my coffee because the waitress checked in and refilled without prompting. I ordered the try 2 menu which I love because it mixes in breakfast and lunch items. My choice was unconventional. I had clam chowder, eggs Benedict on a crabcake, and I ordered a pancake on the side. Not too many places allow you to add just one pancake. The clam chowder is made fresh daily and the veggies were perfect- had a hint of crunch. They were able to substitute my eggs over hard to my liking and that was such a great concept (Eggs with hollaindaise and old bay over top a crabcake and English muffin). Everything tasted great and I had leftovers that my children loved. My friend loved her food as well and we even split some home fries. This was my first time visiting but it's already made my list of favorites.

Not my first time at the restaurant, but my first review. I visit Cromwell once a year and last time i came to the diner, I had an immaculate sausage and gravy w biscuits. That was last year. This year I came during lunch and was craving a salad (per usual). Food quality? 10/10. Packing? 10/10. I ordered from Cromwell Diner 5 out of the 7 days that I was visiting. While the food is always tasty and amazing, the quality, preparation, and sometimes the service is different. This is a garden Greek salad and loaded breakfast potatoes that I ordered Wednesday. It looked and tasted amazing. But by the time the weekend came, unfortunately service and preparation took a hit. While I wasn't a fan of the restaurant over the weekend, I enjoyed them Monday through Thursday. I've only taken photos of the food from Wednesday. And I will say the food that I was served from Monday through Wednesday looked like this. I will definitely be back bc they have the BEST Greek salad that I've had in a very long time. And their loaded potatoes are to die for.

Got take out when I was in the area from Uber eats. This place was pretty busy with an older crowd, seemed like all locals. Corn beef hash burrito was deceptively filing. Fully stuffed with eggs, cheese and hash with all the flavors you want in a breakfast burrito. Came with home fries and they had a nice kick to them.

Was recommended to try this diner by a local and it was an overall good experience with a couple of bad things. Experience/lRating Biscuits and Gravy 10/10 phenomenal must try Buttermilk pancake 6/10 good a bit above average Home fires 5/10 average take it or leave it Omelette 8/10 great safe option Chicken noodle soup 8/10 nice and warm easy recommend to try Ambience 9/10 cool 50s style Service 7/10 a little slow It was an over all good experience but the server only came 3 total times and our water was only refilled once but on their part they were very close to closing for the day if I'm ever in the area again I would love to try it again!.

I love diners, and Cromwell Diner was one of the few open on a Sunday evening. If I'm going to a diner, you can bet I'm either getting breakfast or a burger. If you know me at all, you know I am all about the burger! The first thing I noticed was the amazing lawn out front. Whoever they have for landscaping is doing an outstanding job. Second, there are tables outside if you want to grab your meal and eat outside. My server was Lionel L, and he was great. Attentive without being over the top. I was seated quickly, served quickly, ate quickly, and was out the door in 35-40 minutes. I got the 1/2 lb 'Name Your Burger' that came with fries, and both were delicious. I added bacon for an extra charge and ordered a strawberry shake. I ended it all with a piece of chocolate layer cake, which Lionel offered to top with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Naturally, I assented. I have to be honest that the cake was good, but not great. It was a little dry and tasted like one of those frozen cakes from a box. I probably should have looked to see if they had pie. :) Overall, fantastic and I definitely recommend.

My dinner showing the appetizer portion of crabcakes

Got takeout recently at Cromwell diner. Ordered the crabcake dinner which came with two sides. I selected the salad and tomato soup for my sides. It was $19. When I got home, there were two small crabcakes in a small container with lettuce garnish, and a side of sauce. It was like an appetizer. And the soup came in a normal sized small soup container, but it was only half full! Like it was literally probably about 3/4 of a cup of soup. The salad was fine. It was so surprising. I even called about it, and they laughed and admitted that it was embarrassing that their crabcake dinner only contains two small crabcakes. They said the soup should've been filled to the top though. I was 20 minutes away, so I wasn't going to go back. Told them I will never patronize their business again.

Meet a friend for breakfast. The Cromwell dinner doesn't open until 8a! I thought it was a misprint. Got there and two or three other cars were waiting as it wasn't 8a (I was EARLY!). Walked in at 8a and was seated immediately. I perused the menu and settled on my staple...PANCAKES with a meaty omelet and coffee. It was GOOOOD! My companion ordered a muffin and fruit cup. As you can see, it's a really vibrant cup of fruit. The place is rather charming. Staff very attentive. The pancakes were again, good! Had enough leftovers for lunch. I'll be back again on my way through CT. Homestyle cooking... maybe I'll try lunch (yeah, with pancakes!)

You expect, like the other establishments in the plaza, to find a small cafe style restaurant. When you walk in, you are surprised with fun decor and spacious dining area. Everyone who has gone with me says the same thing "I would never expect it to look like this based on the outside." As for food, they have the Best Reuben sandwich in Rocky Hill. Fries are crispy and price on point. Every meal I've had there has been great! The only downside is table service during lunch is very slow. So make sure you have a full hour to burn if you go for lunch.

Secondly, the latte, cocktail & mocktail options are amazing, along with the many many options of food. I've heard that food from restaurants with large menus are mediocre...this DOES NOT apply here. My party of 2 tried breakfast & lunch options. Both were fresh & so flavorful, especially that homemade syrup I had with the French Egg Holes & Cinnamon Roll Pancakes (3). The home fries came out & were seasoned to perfection. Also, not 1 hard potato to be found. The over medium egg in my thick french toast was actually medium! And they gave me the wholes that were cut from the center of the bread. The pancakes were so fluffy & the icing delish. Tasted exactly like a cinnamon roll. We also ordered 2 different mimosas. The cranberry & the classic. Both were made crispy cold, with quality juices & came garnished. The Salted Cinnamon Mocha Latte, was velvet. It wasn't overly sweet, it wasn't watery or overly bold. I was surprised about how tall the cup was...I drank all of it. It wasn't served scorching hot, so I could sip right away. The Greek Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup was lovely. Typically, soup is watery & looks like it was the last bits, but this had chunky meat, the broth had flavor with hints of lemon. You could see the herbs. This didn't scream, I'm from a can at all. The service was also nice & the waitresses didn't mind that we couldn't make our decisions right away. She & her counterpart offered suggestions & were very kind with checking on us. At the end of the meal, we couldn't help but order some take home from the lunch menu for later. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

I have been conflicted between a 3 or 4 star and I have decided to give it a 3.5 stars, but will round down to 3 stars just because the wait can be extremely long with inattentive service. My dilemma is that even though I gave this place a 3 star, I would still highly, highly recommend people go to Rose's Berry Farm because you don't just go here for the food, but for the entire experience. Rose's Berry Farm is one of those places where you truly get to appreciate all the little things about life. Although I do understand that the wait can be frustrating, I like to think of it as just a longer time to be spending quality time in nature with your loved ones while appreciating your breath taking surroundings. This past Sunday I had friends from out of state visiting and decided to take them to Rose's. We arrived at around 11 am and waited around an hour to be seated so be prepared to be standing there for a bit. We ordered their Belgian Waffles, French Toast, and Quiche. The waffles and French toast come with Rose's homemade jam and whipped cream, which are AMAZING (I cannot emphasize that enough, you really have to try it). I have tried their Breakfast Burrito in the past and I don't think it is anything special so I do not recommend ordering that. My go to order for Rose's would be the Belgian Waffles with the jams and whipped cream on the side and the quiche. I normally don't enjoy waffles that much, but the waffles I had at Rose's were just so fluffy and when paired with the jam and whipped cream it's just a flavor explosion! Don't let the 3 stars scare you off, definitely give Rose's a try if you're ever around Glastonbury and are looking for something to do on a Sunday morning :)

My bf and I got there around 9:45 and there were already a couple larger parties in front of us. However, because it was just the two of us, we got seated 10 or so minutes after we got in line since a couple smaller tables opened up faster. Thank goodness too because the line was moving slow! After we got seated, our server came by quickly and took our order. We got the pancakes, french toast (both with blueberry compote) and bacon. Then... We waited... for 40 MINUTES! and in looking around, it felt like half the tables were also waiting on food. Which was pretty ridiculous since breakfast foods shouldn't take that long to make. When we finally did get our food, I was a little underwhelmed. The fresh blueberry compote on top of everything was DELICIOUS. However, I would say my pancakes were subpar. They were flavorless and not a nice, spongy texture. My bf said his french toast was pretty good and a nice crispiness. Bacon was standard. Overall, I'm not upset I went but I'm not rushing back for an ok breakfast meal and a super long wait. One redeeming factor is that the views from the outdoor patio were really nice.
