    Breakfast platter special number 12

Recommended: Yes, for a classic diner experience with great breakfast options and a welcoming vibe. Overall: A true gem for breakfast with a strong sense of community and great value, though the seating system and coffee could use improvement. Snapshot: Food: 5/5 Coffee: 2/5 Vibe: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 5/5 ‍‍ Family-Friendly: 5/5 Highlights: Perfect For: A classic, budget-friendly family breakfast Don't Miss: The special breakfast plates and those amazing breakfast potatoes Bonus Tip: Don't expect great coffee, but the food more than makes up for it All The Details: The Pepper Pot Diner in Southington is truly a gem. It's one of my favorite places, offering a diner experience that takes you back to a simpler time. The seating system, where you just wait to be seated without any wait times given, can be a little chaotic, especially with kids, but everything else is perfect. This bustling diner offers a special plate with a split decision of pancakes, French toast, eggs, and some of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had--all for just $12. It's great for feeding the family on a budget, yet still offers that warm, community feel. You'll see many familiar faces there, and the staff is always so nice and helpful. It's an excellent spot for kids, as they always have high chairs and usually a back spot available for families. The only downside is the coffee, which is pretty bad--pretty disappointing for a diner. But honestly, once you try those potatoes, you won't care much about the coffee. The service is always quick, friendly, and helpful. If you want a fast, satisfying family breakfast before heading out to do something in Southington, this is definitely the place to go. And seriously, did I mention the potatoes?

CASH ONLY! ok now that we got that out of the way let's talk about how amazing the Pepper Pot in Southington is! I ordered take out and it was such an easy process. The woman on the phone said she was new but she sounded like she was working there forever- she was very nice, friendly, and offered some good tips on some food items I ordered! Sorry I didn't catch her name. I ordered the house omelette, hungry French toast and egg & cheese scrambler! Me and my friends loved each entree. We also had to comment on how amazing their home fries were! We also got a variety of their freshly baked muffins. I got their blueberry and coffee cake flavors and Omgg they were amazing! Not dry at all and better than a bakery honestly! When I come back I'm getting a ton of these again! (Sadly I don't have any pictures of these) Luckily they have an ATM onsite because they are cash only but this place is worth it! Friendly staff, delicious food and cute atmosphere! Check them out!

    Pepper Pot Corned Beef Hash

"Homemade Corned Beef Hash" I love corned beef hash and the menu said it was homemade. Some restaurants claim that their hash is homemade, but it's obvious that it came from a can when you can see the same sized potato nibs mixed into corned beef mush. The Pepper Pot corned beef hash is without a doubt homemade and very good. I mean it's really really good. I tasted a slight smokyness which added another layer of flavor. The homefries were nicely browned, the scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, and I'd like to know the brand of rye bread that they use because it was one of the tastiest rye breads I've ever had. My breakfast was excellent and I can't wait to take my wife to the Pepper Pot.

The Pepper Pot is literally a minute walk from my work so I'm very surprised I've never been here before! My co worker wanted to treat me to an end of the school year breakfast and she said The Pepper Pot is where it's at! She wasn't lying! It's packed all the time so that's a huge giveaway. It took us a while to get served because of this, but once we did it was pretty fast. My co worker ordered an omelette which was stuffed to the gills with items and came with home fries.. which I tried and they were delicious. I got scrambled eggs and you can add stuff to them so I added mushrooms which was a great choice. I also got a side of sliced tomatoes and an English muffin with apple jam which was amazing! I would totally come back! Nice job Pepper Pot!!

This is one of my favorite place to go in central CT for breakfast. The prices are great, and the portions beyond generous. If you're planning on eating here, bring your appetite! The menu has a great variety. I always order the Italian bread toast which is a neat option. It's thick, crispy, and buttery. The place can be packed on the weekends. It's a good idea to go earlier than 9am. Due to Covid, I had not been there in over a year. I had gotten a to go order before restrictions were lifted and it did not disappoint.

I came her last month for my friend's birthday brunch and I was so surprised at the quality and quantity of food I got. I got the English Scramble and a few of my friends got the pancakes, which were HUGE. The price here is inexpensive, too. I will be stopping by again next time I'm in Southington! Additionally, when I went it was cash only so make sure you bring cash.

It's very rare to find a place that does this. I was excitedand ordered two grinders. One was the Lucky Luciano and the other was the Sicilian. The. Lucky Luciano is a vegetable base with provolone cheese. It was thinly sliced provolone cheese, two slices on the entire grinder. Unfortunately, due to the marinated mushrooms and marinated eggplant. The bread was pretty soaked. I think if they used more cheese as a barrier, this sandwich could've been better. The Sicilian is basically an eggplant Parmesan. I did not care for this in Parmesan however it is edible. The eggplant was sliced, extremely thin that you could barely taste it. Instead of using melted mozzarella, there was one hunk of fresh mozzarella on the sandwich. I did feel that the prices were pretty expensive however, I probably would try the vegetable sandwich again if I eat it in person and ask them to put extra provolone around the bread . A lot of the reviews people love it here so I might try some other sandwiches however I don't eat meat so these were the two sandwiches I was interested in.

The two cheeses plus a fresh tomato and lime were all that this large lunchtime meal needed to satisfy me. He is the lone staff, so be prepared to wait while you sit outside the restaurant in the open space with tables provided. He serves the meal himself. The vibe is a bit noisy at times as people walk through the dining area on their way to other venues in this old converted factory space. I thought it was a great idea to recycle old factory buildings along the Rails to Trails walkway in Southington. If you want an unconventional meal and like wandering around, popping into stores like the chocolate store or brewery, try it out.

I walked in and from first glance, you can tell it is a staple type establishment for those within the community of Plainville. A spot that folks love to hit up in the mornings and for lunch to get their day started and to keep it going. I always can appreciate a good home-style vibe. Jim's had a few patrons inside, all having conversations with the ladies behind the counter that were making food and then the gentleman at the register as well. I will say that when I walked up to the counter, one lady looked at me as if I had a third eye, scoffed and walked away but I didn't think much of it for she may have been having a bad morning....moments later the other Woman said, "What do you want?" in a questionable tone but again, I digress for they both looked flustered. I placed an order and simply walked to the register and proceeded to grab a few more items for my review. I started off with the Pastrami Reuben on hardroll. The roll was toasted for that crispy factor and the pastrami itself, was good. You really can't go wrong when the cut on the pastrami is just right and it has a nice cut about it. The sauerkraut was ok, nothing major to write home about to be honest and it had a nice savory sauce with some Swiss cheese that. complemented the sandwich. Moving along to their macaroni salad! The mayo was tangy, and the red onions drew in the flavor profile rather nicely. It was seasoned with pepper as well and with the macaroni cooked to near perfection, you couldn't go wrong here. Now their Bacon, Egg and cheese on a hard roll left much to be desired. More BREAD than egg and bacon....You could barely see it from the side, let alone taste anything. I was sadly disappointed in their excuse for a breakfast sandwich. It lacked style, ingredients and flavor. This brings us over to their Apple Crisp! Fresh apples, cinnamon and granola goodness that made up for the horrible breakfast sandwich. Each bite of the crisp sent harps my way to play me a melody of tasty treats. Not too bad but between their. questionable customer service and my breakfast sandwich, I can only give Jim's an overall score of 3.5.

As I walked through the front doors, I noticed kegs alongside on the floor. This was kind of a turn off, kind of reminds me of a dive bar. So my mentality kicked in that we were going into a dive bar serving food. I kinda get the sketchy feeling. Once we were seated, and menus placed, we were served iced water A few minutes later, the server came back and took our order. My friend ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and some string french fries. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken, which came with two sides. I chose the rattlesnake beans and the creamy macaroni and cheese. Also include included was cornbread I originally wanted the street corn, as a side, but it was not available. Our lunches came quick, and my friend only ate half the french fries and cheeseburger, as she wasn't really turned on by them. The smoked chicken was fairly dry, with a very interesting smoked flavor to it that I can't put my finger on. I eat about 1/3 of it. Left the rest on the plate. The creamy macaroni and cheese was out of bounds top-notch. I could've eaten this all day. The rattlesnake rice and beans were just OK. The rice was cooked pretty good, and was seasoned well. The beans had a weird taste. Now thinking of this side dish, I was hoping for raw onions to be on top, but they were nowhere to be found. It'll be nice if there was chopped raw onions to go with this. The cornbread was delicious. I ate about half of it. It was a generous slice. While the server was fairly attentive, as she only checked in to fill the water glasses and ask how lunch was. She didn't ask us if we wanted a desert or coffee. Being old folks this would've been a great up for us, but it didn't happen. I had to ask for the check. I'm not sure if I would come back. I think this might be a one and done. The vibe just didn't hit it for me. Restrooms were clean. The restaurant was clean; the silverware clean. I don't know. It just was like a funky type layout and those beer kegs kinda sent the wrong tone to me as a guest. Lunch for the two of us was $40 and change and I left a $10 tip. We didn't have any cocktails or mock tails, we didn't have coffee or dessert either. From what I understand, the owner was near the exit when we left, not even a smile or a thank you for coming in...
