CASH ONLY! ok now that we got that out of the way let's talk about how amazing the Pepper Pot in Southington is! I ordered take out and it was such an easy process. The woman on the phone said she was new but she sounded like she was working there forever- she was very nice, friendly, and offered some good tips on some food items I ordered! Sorry I didn't catch her name. I ordered the house omelette, hungry French toast and egg & cheese scrambler! Me and my friends loved each entree. We also had to comment on how amazing their home fries were! We also got a variety of their freshly baked muffins. I got their blueberry and coffee cake flavors and Omgg they were amazing! Not dry at all and better than a bakery honestly! When I come back I'm getting a ton of these again! "Homemade Corned Beef Hash" I love corned beef hash and the menu said it was homemade. Some restaurants claim that their hash is homemade, but it's obvious that it came from a can when you can see the same sized potato nibs mixed into corned beef mush. The Pepper Pot corned beef hash is without a doubt homemade and very good. I mean it's really really good. I tasted a slight smokyness which added another layer of flavor. The homefries were nicely browned, the scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, and I'd like to know the brand of rye bread that they use because it was one of the tastiest rye breads I've ever had. The Pepper Pot is literally a minute walk from my work so I'm very surprised I've never been here before! My co worker wanted to treat me to an end of the school year breakfast and she said The Pepper Pot is where it's at! She wasn't lying! It's packed all the time so that's a huge giveaway. It took us a while to get served because of this, but once we did it was pretty fast. My co worker ordered an omelette which was stuffed to the gills with items and came with home fries.. which I tried and they were delicious. I got scrambled eggs and you can add stuff to them so I added mushrooms which was a great choice. I also got a side of sliced tomatoes and an English muffin with apple jam which was amazing! Having never been to the Pepper Pot and looking for somewhere local to have a nice breakfast, my wife and I tried it. We were not disappointed. Our omelets were huge and stuffed with our requested fixings. The coffee was flowing and very good. The wait staff was attentive but not bothersome. We arrived a little after 9AM on Thursday morning and were told to sit anywhere. We selected a table facing the large windows so we could look out on the green. Our waitress delivered menus and took our drink orders. My wife ordered the Texas French toast with strawberries (frozen) and whipped cream. The toast was not Texas thick so there was probably an error in the kitchen since it was clearly marked on the bill. The French toast did not standup very well and became a bit soggy. I ordered the house omelet that comes with spinach, feta cheese and a minute amount of tomatoes. Accompanying my order was good size portion of breakfast potatoes and a choice of toast which I barely touched. The omelet was a good size without being overly thick which, IMHO, is good. The potatoes were more warm than hot, but that probably should be expected. Service was fine until we started looking for our check and could not catch our server's eye. The breakfast for the most part was good except the eggs. The steak was cooked medium as I asked. The toast was good. The home fries were maybe a little on the over cooked side but still passable. The eggs however were not. They had been very over cooked and over worked over heat. They were very tough and were cooked into dry strands. They were borderline inedible. So I might come back because honestly I had a nice time there. I would absolutely avoid the eggs though. They've got an extensive breakfast menu full of eggs of every style, pancakes and waffles. Normally I would get an omelet but they have something called the Pepper Pot Scramble, which is eggs, cajun chicken, bacon, and sausage all scrambled up and topped with cheese, which I couldn't pass up. My friends ordered an omelet and one had a particular order which I at first thought would have been a bit high maintenance but it was no problem for our waitress who was completely prepared to do order gymnastics to get my friend exactly what he wanted. Breakfast came and wow that Scramble was delicious. Every bite was chock full or meaty flavor, and I also decided to get a side of turkey hash, which was equally awesome. Though I did end up taking the hash and some home fries to go. It was honestly too much for me to eat in one sitting. Most of the dishes come with your choice of toast and home fries so you're definitely getting your monies worth and the table had conversation cards. I found this particular table accessory pretty neat. It gives people something to do besides check their phones for the latest FB update or something. Let me start by saying I used to love coming here. The staff was friendly and the food was consistently good and reasonably priced. Today I came in and had to wait much longer than others to have a waitress come over (mind you she and the other server went quickly to other tables as they sat down). This place is actually so close to 5-star I almost feel guilty giving it 4; there's not much they can improve upon. I've had Pepper Pot about three times over the last six months- the most recent was today. Their breakfasts are hot, prepared quickly, and brought out just as timely. The wait staff are friendly, attentive, and they are quite willing to accommodate. Example, today we went in at 1pm, I was not aware they stopped serving breakfast at some point (I think 11am), but when I asked for an omelette, she politely informed me, but stated she thought it might be possible for them, just there wouldn't be home fries, would I like french fries instead. Simple, direct, work with you. I loved that. The portion I received was tremendous- I had myself a big mexican omelette. The fries were crisp though not really salted. The omelette itself was great. Our coffee cups never emptied because they are very mindful of the dining area and will be by to ask if you need any more. About the only thing they could do more of is to use fresh instead of canned/preserved ingredients, but it doesn't detract much. Pepper Pot's been a staple down on Center Street for decades, and it's still going strong. The good food, ample portions and great staff keep people coming back. read more

I ordered a custom broccoli and cheese omelette and my boyfriend ordered a western omelette. They were both huge portions. I'm not a big fan of home fries in general but my boyfriend loved them. Location wise it seemed like a nice area. Brick sidewalks and sort of a cute downtown vibe. Inside was nicely decorated as well, very clean. Not the usual country kitchen style decor. We've been here a couple of times after church (like everyone else in Southington), and both were good experiences. Even when there was a wait, the wait staff cleaned up empty tables immediately, and we sat rather quickly. We have had the corned beef hash, which was awesome, eggs, potatoes, pancakes...everything is made from scratch and is exactly what you expect (except for the corned beef hash - that was better than expected). The coffee is weak, however. Like a couple of the other reviewers said, it's pretty much your standard breakfast place. They try to be a little creative with the specials, but fall short on that end.
