First impression when you walk in is that the service counter area is bigger than you'd expect but they only had 6 tables to sit down and enjoy your food. My wife and I ordered the Godfather and a make your own Rost Beef with lettuce, tomato, Swiss and mayo. The meats were pre sliced in the refrigerated prep station but the godfather meats were a little too thick than what I like in my sandwich. The roast beef was a nice med rare and sliced properly. The veggies were fresh and the sandwiches were well prepared by the friendly staff. My only 2 areas of opportunity other than the thickness of the godfather meat would be .. 1) a bit more meat in the sandwiches and 2) the bread. The bread was a soft white grinder roll that just didn't cut it. I'm looking for a crispy crust and a soft inside possibly with some sesame seeds baked on... If they just changed the bread it would take them to a whole other level !!!! The best surprise was the desert cases with lots and lots of options. I have pictures of the cake slices and cupcakes but I forgot to take a picture is the other one with all rhetorical different brownie options ... there had to be at least 10. My wife added a Reese's brownie to our order and it was amazing !!! Definitely worth a try if you're in the area and we would definitely go again !!! But to the owners !! Some Instagram Friends posted pics of sandwiches from Cravings. I could tell it was a great place, with terrific ingredients and well made grinders. I recently ordered a Chicken Bacon Ranch and a Godfather (essentially an Italian Combo with lettuce, tomato, roasted reds, provolone, oil and vinegar) with added Banana Peppers and Mayo and them over the course of a few days. The bread was fresh and up to the job. The Italian meats were first rate. The chicken cutlets were awesome. All of the toppings and flavor combinations were on point. Cravings is now up there with my favorite places to get grinders in the Greater Hartford area. A few words on the atmosphere. The outside building appearance, while fine, is not really a draw. Ordered catering to be picked up cold for a small, private wedding at our home. Having the option to pickup the food cold to be heated when needed was so helpful and the staff I placed the order with was incredibly friendly and helpful. We ordered some GF options which was a major selling point when choosing who to order with and I can't say enough good things about every dish we got. The food was flavorful, cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. I was craving a sandwich for lunch today but haven't had a ton of luck in the area finding a good one so decided to order from this place on a whim and it was 20% off on DoorDash so I figured why not. I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered The Godfather and The Bear. The former is their version of an Italian combo and the latter is a warm chicken cutlet sandwich. The chicken cutlet was perfectly breaded and pounded thin. Delish! Both of them were a really good size for the price (around $11.50 for the whole grinder. I'm so picky when it comes to sandwiches but I was blown away. The bread was soft, the flavors were balanced, and there was a little handwritten note apologizing for being out of a condiment and giving me (delicious) chipotle mayo instead. Sadly this place used to be a go to, my last two times have been awful. We usually get the same thing. London and one of the chicken sandwiches, we did the prosciutto chicken this time. We did the roast beef with no horsey sauce, sub mayo. the roast beef was well done, dry and like it was left out. Pretty sure it was cut the wrong way so it was ridiculously tough, we literally tossed it in the trash. I couldn't chew it... we made other sandwiches on the bread from stuff at the house. The chicken cutlet was little nuggets of overcooked and very dry chicken. After finding Cravings on Yelp, we were impressed with the pictures and reviews and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! We placed a pickup order, and the customer service in person and on the phone was great. The restaurant was clean with a nice ambiance, with a showcase of desserts we would like to try in the future. We ordered both hot and cold grinders- turkey, roast beef, chicken cutlet, and meatball. Everything was delicious. The deli meat was fresh with a good texture (some deli turkey can be slimy and spongy but this was delicious). The prices were extremely reasonable which we appreciate in these very expensive times. I was in the mood for a panini and smoothie spot, and came upon this gem on Yelp. Happy to say I was not disappointed. This sandwich shop/bakery has a great selection of sandwiches, pasta dishes and baked goods. I ordered a Chicken Cordon Bleu hero (grinder), a slice of carrot cake and a strawberry shortcake cupcake. The hero was very tasty with a deep fried chicken cutlet, ham, swiss cheese, lettuce tomato and mayonnaise. Hard to get that combo wrong. The carrot cake was fantastic, the cream cheese frosting was the highlight, tangy and not too sweet and the cake had the perfect amount of ginger, raisins and nuts. The cupcake on the other hand, was a disappointment, in particular the cake base which I found to be very dry, and the strawberry topping was ok, not enough to make up for the dryness of the base. Service was quick and friendly, and the premises appeared clean and welcoming. I highly recommend this place and look forward to returning to try the other signature heros (grinders!) ‍ read more

Cravings definitely will have us craving their sandwiches. Our food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. The staff was super helpful and great at recommendations. The place is definitely popular based on the quick selling display cases. The Eli special is not on the menu, I asked the worker what his favorite sandwich was and he said a variation of the Bear. I asked him to make me what he would make himself and it was delicious. We also tried the steak and cheese which was a 9/10. If it was toasted, would have been a 10/10. This fine establishment is located two doors down from my hair stylist (Nauticuts) and now it's tradition to eat at Cravings whenever I get a haircut. I've been there twice now - first time I got one of their amazing salads. Second time I got one of their sandwiches - 'The House'. All the ingredients are very fresh including the bread. The staff is very friendly. You'll pay a little bit more here than your average sandwich shop, but in my opinion it is very much worth the quality of food you're getting. I also noticed in my most recent visit they sell frozen homemade pasta and other Italian dishes. read more

Boyyy have I been waiting for this. After seeing this place on Yelp multiple times and always being next door buying food for my fur baby, I had to stop in today to give it a try. I must say it's a bit dimly lit on the inside (hardly any windows) but veryyyy clean. The service was fast and friendly. I ordered the Italian American grinder, the meat on my sandwich was top quality, the bread was good, and it was pretty large! I could barley eat half before I got full. I also tried the pasta salad and potato salad. I wasn't a huge fan of the potato salad, personal preference 100%. I'm quite biased and their recipe tasted rather sweet to me which was a no go. Very cool concept, you walk in and it's like a deli counter style of ordering. You order your food and then get a seat after. The menu items I sampled was a quite delicious chocolate cupcake, The Emmie sandwich, and a chocolate chip cookie. The desserts were really good, the frosting had a really nice texture and coated your mouth in a very pleasant way. The chocolate chip cookie was nice and loaded with chips. My sandwich was fire, I highly recommend getting your sandwich toasted because *chef kiss*. The sandwich itself was the perfect portion and so good. When I first moved to Bristol last year, while we were waiting for the keys to our house we scoured Yelp to find a great place to eat and landed on Cravings, which is about 1 minute from our house. We go there constantly because they are just so fucking good. The staff are so friendly and accommodating, the place has a chill vibe, and the food is just so delicious. We love the Angry Rick and the Bear (which are pretty similar with the difference essentially being banana peppers) but holy cow they are so delicious. They do a tremendous job with their chicken cutlets overall and load up their sandwiches really well. I have also gotten a ton of their bakery items including cakes and brownies and they are all just so creative and delicious. I know it takes a ton of effort to make so many different bakery items every single day but I wish the prices weren't so high, or the pieces were bigger. Price aside the baker kills it and they are some of the best cakes I have ever had. Overall I hope that they continue to do what they're doing because its one of our favorite restaurants! read more

So, I've gotta come clean. I avoided this place for months on purpose. It looks incredibly unappealing from the outside. Last I remember, it was a pawn shop. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Cravings decided to skip on the curb appeal- and slapped a too-tiny sign on the building, and a fading canvas sign out by the curb. There is rarely anyone in the parking lot, so between the lack of vehicles and the lack of windows, it's hard to tell what on earth is going on over there. Today, my girlfriend and I decided to figure out what on earth is going on with Cravings. We came to this clueless- thinking this was a sit down diner, akin to Applewood Diner, Rodd's, & Crystal Luncheonette. It's actually more like a Panera, with a good amount of grab and go options. There are breakfast sandwiches, there's grinders, salads, and entrees, there are gourmet cupcakes and other desserts. There's even catering. There are tables to dine at, but this is definitely fast-casual eating. You order at the counter, wait for your food, and bring it to your own table or take it to-go. We came in for breakfast sandwiches specifically- which, in Bristol usually means Sausage &/or bacon, egg, cheese, on a cornmeal-coated hard roll. They definitely know what the demographic wants- thick bacon- check, egg- check, American cheese- check, hard roll full of cornmeal coating- check! (See how I skipped on the sausage? That was on purpose. The sausage, unfortunately, had a flavor and smell reminiscent of the smell of a wet dog). As for the pricing? It's fair. The average breakfast sandwich runs about $4.99-6.99, and these were right in that price range. The worker who helped us was really friendly and helped us first-timers with ordering. He was personable and polite, and had no problem with us paying for our order upon placing our order instead of upon receipt. We took a walk to the pet store next door, looked at some of the animals, and came back over maybe 4 or 5 minutes later. Our sandwiches were all set and ready to go as soon as I walked back up to the counter. My only gripe is that I was handed two hot wads of tinfoil full of sandwich, only wrapping them loosely at best, with no bag, no napkins, no salt/pepper/ketchup packets, nothing. Just the two loosely wrapped sandwiches. Thankfully I carry a reusable bag with me, but if I didn't, I'd be rewrapping then coddling 2 sandwiches in my lap on my bus ride home! Thinking back to the conversation we had with the front counter worker, we ended up talking about the immense changes made to the interior of this building since it was a pawn shop. No longer did it smell like a mildewy, stale cigarette smoke filled basement. Gone were the dingy jewel tone carpeting and awful green faux marble, gold, & wood paneling theme of the old pawn shop. Replacing all that is a gorgeously tiled, very open, modern looking restaurant. The serene, white, modern theme works its way through the restaurant- to the long food display counter, to the chalkboard-looking menus on a wall of big screen TVs behind the front counter. I wish they were able to throw in a larger window or two. I'd like to go back and try some lunch and maybe one of those fruity pebbles cupcakes. You should check Cravings out, too! Note to the business owner: Please ask your food service employees, including counter person to mask up. The guy was friendly, but I shouldn't be seeing his mouth mid pandemic. Thanks! read more

So why 2 stars? We can't eat here unless they learn to better manage their food supply with demand. We've ordered from them online three times in as many weeks. Two of those three times, they ended up being out of the special item ordered. Once I get--but twice? In as many orders? In three weeks? Come ON guys, get it together! Oh, and the lack of masks in the middle of a pandemic really isn't encouraging either.
