    Chicken salad on multigrain
    Scott K.

It seems there are new owners, again. Let's start with the good. I had a chicken salad sandwich with Munster cheese, lettuce, tomato, and honey. Mustard dressing served on a multigrain bread. I don't know that it was monster cheese for sure, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. There wasn't much dressing on it at all, but the bread was fresh and the sandwich tasted pretty good. I also got two brown sugar chocolate chip cookies which were OK, but just overly sweet and you could feel some of the sugar on your teeth when you chewed. From an aesthetic and overall ambiance perspective, the "Mabel's Tables" is blacked out above Michael's Deli signage, recognizing the change in ownership without there being any other such signage or notification, which doesn't make for a good look or impression. The display case and product shelves were pretty sparse, again, not a good look or feeling given that they will be there a long time.

Michaels deli was a great place to stop for lunch with a great menu selection and a build your own option as well. Today I ended up building a turkey club with turkey, cheese, lettuce, mayo, and bacon. The bacon came crispy and paired well with their rye bread. It was quick service and lunch was delicious.

This place is seriously underrated. It's tucked in behind S.Main on Elm St. but I try to stop here once every two weeks (pay day lol) to grab a coffee and breakfast sandwich. It's so cute inside and I've always had the warmest of welcomes when I come in. Help yourself to a coffee and you know after your first bite, the food is prepared with care. My usual is the sausage egg and cheese with grilled onions and hot cherry peppers and it's the best in town... seriously. The Mrs does the same except with bacon. We've stopped a few times with the kids for a sit down and they always ask "why don't we come here more often?" The owner came out one time when she was trying a new French toast recipe with and gave everyone a taste test. Love it!!

This place is actually now Mabel's Table at Michael's Deli-- new ownership. I loved everything about this place. Their sandwich menu has a TON of different options that all sound delicious-- or you can make your own. They also offer salads and homemade soup! They also have omelets and breakfast sandwiches (on my list to try next!) Walking in felt like walking into a close neighbor's house... the staff were all very friendly and engaging with each other in a comfortable & homey way. They answered all my questions and were friendly. Specialty sandwiches come with a little side-- potato salad, spicy potato salad, cowboy caviar w chips, coleslaw, etc... The spicy potato salad was very flavorful, had a nice kick, & I don't think you can ever go wrong with cowboy caviar. You can order for pickup and they'll have it ready or walk up to the counter. You can also sit & stay/order at a table. I will definitely be returning here very soon!

Today is the first time I've tried Michaels Deli for breakfast and I must say that as simple as my dish is/was, my two eggs, home fries, thick slices of bacon were PERFECT. Michael's is definitely not a greasy spoon kind of joint unlike "other" sit down spots in Cheshire. My simple two egg platter wasn't greasy at all actually. The potatoes were seasoned delightfully and the decor I here is just pleasant and appealing to the eye. I give the owner/operator a lot of credit. A delicious breakfast served up classy and hot! I'll be back. I wish y'all were open on sundays though!

My fiancé goes here mostly every day for lunch. I decided today that i'd meet him for lunch and he ended up taking me here. He rants and rave about how good their sandwiches are. Today I had a chicken salad sandwich and it was THE BEST chicken salad sandwich i've ever had. My partner had a grilled turkey rueben and he devoured it! Awesome please to go! They can get pretty busy too which means something good! Keep up the good work! You don't find many good family owned business nowadays.

So much for trying this place!

This place is for the birds! Everyone is getting abused with expensive prices and mediocre service. I ordered a Reuben sandwich which was heated on a microwave and put together on a dirty cutting board whipped with the a nasty dirty rag. Of course the sandwich came with a side of potato salad and that will run you a hefty 10.75$ My advice save your money and time unless you love getting it from these folks

It's very rare to find a place that does this. I was excitedand ordered two grinders. One was the Lucky Luciano and the other was the Sicilian. The. Lucky Luciano is a vegetable base with provolone cheese. It was thinly sliced provolone cheese, two slices on the entire grinder. Unfortunately, due to the marinated mushrooms and marinated eggplant. The bread was pretty soaked. I think if they used more cheese as a barrier, this sandwich could've been better. The Sicilian is basically an eggplant Parmesan. I did not care for this in Parmesan however it is edible. The eggplant was sliced, extremely thin that you could barely taste it. Instead of using melted mozzarella, there was one hunk of fresh mozzarella on the sandwich. I did feel that the prices were pretty expensive however, I probably would try the vegetable sandwich again if I eat it in person and ask them to put extra provolone around the bread . A lot of the reviews people love it here so I might try some other sandwiches however I don't eat meat so these were the two sandwiches I was interested in.

Long-time fan, but disappointed with the new Italian combo portions…read more I've been coming here for years and have always loved the Italian combo grinder -- the bread is still fantastic (crusty outside, soft inside, just right), the long hot peppers pack that perfect kick, and the overall flavor profile is still spot-on. The shop looks great after the recent updates under new ownership -- cleaner, brighter, more inviting space. That said, I was really let down on my first visit since the change. The grinder I got for lunch had noticeably less meat than before. What used to be a hearty, well-stacked sandwich with generous layers of cold cuts now felt skimpy on the protein -- probably about half (or less) the amount I was used to. The other components (cheese, veggies, hot sauce) were fine, but the lack of meat made it feel more like a veggie-heavy sub than the satisfying Italian combo I always counted on. Everything else was good -- friendly service, quick prep, fresh ingredients -- so I'm hoping this was just an off day or an adjustment period with the new team. I'd love to see the portions return to their old generous standard, because the foundation here is still strong. 2.5/5 stars from me right now. Still my go-to deli in the area, but I'll be watching to see if the meat comes back in full force. Keep up the great bread and peppers!

Mabel's Tables took over Michael's Deli and has been taking a very slow path to being independent…read moreand separate themselves from Michaels. I can understand why since Michaels built up so much goodwill for the business, however, Mabel has nothing to worry about. I didn't frequent Michaels very often because I didn't think they were all that friendly. If this first visit to Mabel's is any sign, everyone was super friendly and welcoming. I engaged who I believe is the owner (Mabel?) in some conversation as she prepared my sandwich. She actually initially engaged me when she heard me order an egg salad sub. I asked what was in it and the person at the register said "onion and celery" and then said hold on a minute I think she's making it to order. That's when the owner stepped up and told me she likes to make it to order to keep it as fresh as possible and leaving out the celery and onion wasn't an issue. That one on one and the freshness of this sandwich will definitely have me returning more often. So, I ordered an egg salad grinder with lettuce, tomato and black olives. It came on a very fresh Italian sub roll and it was just delicious! You've never had anything fresher (see pic). Every sandwich comes with a choice of side. I got the Cole slaw. I'm super picky about slaw. This was a very good slaw. Nothing but fresh cabbages and a light dressing (that I don't know ingredients of). They also bake their own muffins and cookies so of course I had to get one of each. I got a chocolate chip cookie and a pistachio chocolate chip muffin. The cookie was ok. The chocolate chips were very good but the cookie itself was too "Italian bakery cookie"-like. I haven't had the muffin yet but will update once I have. Just one suggestion, It would be nice if they would add some additional vegan/vegetarian sandwich options. There are so many great meat (protein) alternatives available now that having a vegan chicken sandwich or burger should be standard at all places like this.
