Ordered a hot dog and the pulled pork sandwich. Food came out quick and we dug in. The pulled pork was tender and not dry. The pork itself was cooked well but didn't really have any flavor. The bbq sauce was sweet but not very present, bun was generic, and the coleslaw was fresh and crispy but the slaw sauce was creamy but bland. It really needed a salty element, something like a vinegar slaw or pickle to give it some salt and crisp. The hot dog was executed well. Grilled dog, good bun to dog ratio, toasted bun in butter, dog was a Hummel dog so it's missing the snappy salty bite I hope for in a good hot dog, but it's prepped well. Nothing that we got was bad, but nothing was great either. It's good but basic, and It's a better place to go to compared to fast food.

The bread was pretty soaked. I think if they used more cheese as a barrier, this sandwich could've been better. The Sicilian is basically an eggplant Parmesan. I did not care for this in Parmesan however it is edible. The eggplant was sliced, extremely thin that you could barely taste it. Instead of using melted mozzarella, there was one hunk of fresh mozzarella on the sandwich. I did feel that the prices were pretty expensive however, I probably would try the vegetable sandwich again if I eat it in person and ask them to put extra provolone around the bread . A lot of the reviews people love it here so I might try some other sandwiches however I don't eat meat so these were the two sandwiches I was interested in.

The shop looks great after the recent updates under new ownership -- cleaner, brighter, more inviting space. That said, I was really let down on my first visit since the change. The grinder I got for lunch had noticeably less meat than before. What used to be a hearty, well-stacked sandwich with generous layers of cold cuts now felt skimpy on the protein -- probably about half (or less) the amount I was used to. The other components (cheese, veggies, hot sauce) were fine, but the lack of meat made it feel more like a veggie-heavy sub than the satisfying Italian combo I always counted on. Everything else was good -- friendly service, quick prep, fresh ingredients -- so I'm hoping this was just an off day or an adjustment period with the new team. I'd love to see the portions return to their old generous standard, because the foundation here is still strong. 2.5/5 stars from me right now. I decided to go directly to Shef's on Friday morning around 8:30am. They had already sold out of cinnamon raisin! That's how good this place is. I opted for a French toast bagel which had that subtle hint of maple syrup sweetness (not too overpowering). I guess you really have to get there at 6am when they open to get your pick of all of the bagel flavors. Their cream cheese is also delicious! One final tip: CASH ONLY! (There is an ATM inside) This place is no-frills but has such a nice hometown feeling when you walk in the door. I love supporting this local business!
