Sesame seed bagel with chicken salad (with cranberries), American cheese, lettuce, and tomato
Lauren B.

Shef's Bagels is such a great spot! My go-to order is their chicken salad with American cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a sesame seed bagel. It hits the spot every time, and they always give you the perfect amount of chicken salad. Their bagels are so light, airy, and fresh but sell out quickly. That's how you know they're top-tier!

God damnit, their bagels sell like hot cakes. We got there at 1030am and they literally had only one type of bagel left!!!! We picked the last raisin bagel and had it with blueberry cream cheese. The cream cheese was whipped and absolutely delicious. Perfect amount of sweet too and the bagel was nice and thick with the right amount of chewy and crispy. Wish we had come early to pick some more!

Amazing service, Everything Bagel is phenomenal! Hometown feel. Love the Costa Rican coffee.

French Toast bagel with strawberry cream cheese

I recently visited Shef's after a friend recommended it. Shef's is obviously very popular. Business was steady and they had many employees because they apparently expected to be busy. Shef's was not fancy. Service was friendly and efficient. My friend recommended I get a French Toast Bagel with Strawberry Cream Cheese, which is not a usual order for me. I was afraid it might be too sweet, but the French Toast bagel wasn't too sweet and the sweetness from the strawberry cream cheese took it to the right level. The bagel was above average and good. I also ordered an Everything Bagel with veggie cream cheese. Both were good. I would have preferred the veggie cream cheese to have more of a point of view, but it was fairly common. I also prefer more everything seasoning on my bagel, but it was decent. Shef's Bagels were closer to New York style than some other I've recently had. I would return if in the area, but I will probably stick with my area go-to's Four Stars

I woke up very early this morning and took a ride just to relax. I ended up at chefs bagels,. For less than six dollars purchased a coffee and two bagels. Brought them home and loved the bagel. It was flavorful and crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Delicious just as a bagel should be. I was starved when I got home and gobbled it down definitely will be going back. If you're in the area I would recommend.

Egg and cheese on a plain bagel toasted

There's not much more I can say other than Shef's has some of the best bagels around! Freshly made every morning, and many different varieties to choose from, this place is a game changer as far as bagels go. I almost always order an egg and cheese sandwich on a plain bagel toasted, and it hits the spot every time. If you visit Shef's on a Saturday or Sunday morning, you'll generally find that the place is packed. I'd recommend getting there early (maybe around 8AM) to beat the rush. If you wait until after the morning rush, you'll also beat the crowds, but often they'll have run out of certain types of bagels (especially if it's right before a holiday like Easter, Mother's Day, etc.). The ambiance is nothing special, just a basic bagel shop. There are several tables to dine in, though most people just pick up and take their food to go. If you're in a hurry, I'd recommend calling in your order ahead, though if the staff is really busy they may not always answer the phone. Overall a great bagel spot that you need to check out!

Bagels and veg cream cheese

Shef's Bagels is well-known in the area and with good reason. The bagels are the freshest I've tasted. If you don't consume them within a day, freeze them to preserve freshness. They go stale quickly with no preservatives. I would recommend going early because bagels sell out, especially on weekends and holidays. I went early on a weekday, just after 9 AM and the garlic bagels were sold out. I love the cream cheese here as well, which spreads easily and flavorful. I've tried walnut raisin, scallion and vegetable and have never been disappointed. The breakfast sandwiches are priced well and worth a try. There are plenty of people working the counter and they're all helpful and friendly. Ambience is good for a takeaway place. You can eat there if you want to and there are places to sit while waiting for your order, even though everything is prepared quickly. If you're looking for quality bagels, put Shef's on your radar.

Line out the door!!

10/22/23: As I pulled up to the store front I saw the line out the door!! Walked in and the shelf's were empty except for plain. I was lucky enough to place an order for 2 bagels, and while I was waiting for my order, they sold the rest of the bagels!! Crazy, they open at 7am and sold out by 9:45!! That should tell you 2 things, he sells an amazing product and get there early!!

Onto the drinks and food which were so delicious and truly enjoyable. I got the Beachy Bee Iced Latte special, which is a honey vanilla latte with a coconut cold foam and toasted coconut on top (simply divine)! My fiancé got the cappuccino which was made just to his liking, and he's a coffee connoisseur. For food, I had the Bumble, which I highly recommend, with scrambled eggs, subbed with the gluten free sourdough bread (+$2 up-charge) and cheddar instead of American cheese. It's served all day and had so much flavor with that garlic butter, and the seasoned steak. Yum! If you are gluten free like me, you will appreciate that they have the gluten free sourdough bread or a gluten free wrap to substitute with. My partner had the Basic Bee with bacon and thought it was flavorful with light and fluffy scrambled eggs that complimented the bacon well. Overall, I would really recommend this place if you're looking for a breakfast or lunch in Wallingford!

I normally try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but our experience at The Bees Knees Bistro…read morein Wallingford was honestly very disappointing and upsetting. My family and I arrived while it was raining outside with our young daughters in strollers, expecting to sit down for a meal and get out of the weather. Instead, we were told we could not come in with the strollers and essentially felt unwelcome the moment we walked through the door. As parents of babies who are still too young to sit safely in high chairs on their own, the strollers are not optional for us , they are necessary. We were not being disruptive, rude, or inconsiderate. We were simply trying to have a meal as a family. Rather than attempting to accommodate us or show any understanding, we were left feeling like having children made us an inconvenience. What made the situation even worse was the fact that it was pouring outside. Any level of kindness or flexibility would have gone a long way. Instead, we felt embarrassed, frustrated, and honestly shocked by the lack of compassion and customer service. Families with young children already face enough challenges going out in public, and experiences like this make it even harder. We ended up leaving and taking our business somewhere else that was far more welcoming and understanding toward families. It is disappointing because we were genuinely looking forward to trying this restaurant, but first impressions matter. A restaurant does not need to be "kid-centered" to still treat parents and babies with basic respect and decency. I completely understand that restaurants may have space limitations or policies, but there is a respectful and compassionate way to handle situations like this. Instead, the experience came across as cold and dismissive. There are many restaurants in the area that are happy to accommodate families, and moving forward those are the businesses I will continue to support. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to families with infants or children who still require strollers or extra accommodations. I wont be going back and giving them .you business, nor will I be recommending this place to anyone. Totally rude and discrimination towards those with babies. I did not feel cherished like their website says every guest is. Its sad because this will and im sure does effect their business. I will never give them my business after yesterday. No attempts at accommodating us or evening offering to let us sit outside, lazy staff, but yet there were 3 teenage girls taking names for the wait list. What a joke.

They have some seating within the mix of the giant coffee roaster area. There were a few people hanging out and people coming and going. The shop was cute, but they were fitting a lot into a little space too. I ordered a black iced coffee. I asked what they used and they just told me it was a medium roast. I assume that means they're using a blend of some sort since you would tend to highlight a high end Single Origin coffee if somebody asked. In any event, service was friendly and efficient. The iced coffee was above average. Smooth. Drinkable. No aftertaste. But it didn't really have any of the flavors of a high end coffee used for iced coffee. Four Stars

The Bean Coffee Roasters is located off of Route 10 in a small plaza with a few other businesses. There's plenty of parking in the lot. The restaurant itself is pretty small, with only a few tables to eat at. Most of the people ahead of me in line were ordering their drinks/food to-go. I had seen a Raspberry White Chocolate Latte posted on their Instagram page as a special for Valentine's Day, and asked the girl behind the counter if she could make it for me. She happily checked to make sure they still had all the correct ingredients, and luckily they did! As someone who is not a huge coffee fan, I thought it tasted delicious! They also use coffee cubes in all of their iced coffee drinks, which I thought was pretty cool (no more watered down coffee!) In addition to coffee and tea, they also had a variety of smoothies on their menu, which all sounded good, in addition to breakfast sandwiches and some baked goods. I ordered a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a ciabatta roll, and it was absolutely amazing! There was only one employee working when I went, but she was friendly and efficient. I'll be stopping back soon for sure to try one of their smoothies!

When I made the reservation, I told them my dad was handicapped and in a wheelchair. If they couldn't accommodate a party of 10 at 1 table, they should have said so. Now, the table situation was manageable and we had a cohesive experience, but why did we have 2 servers for 2 tables when we were 1 party? The server the table I was at was Ryan (I hope I'm right). He was amazing. My mom wanted to pay the bill for both tables and not only did he make that happen; he explained the gratuity was already included and walked her through the toast machine and never once suggested she leave an extra tip.
