Which has 2 eggs, cheese, maple sausage, bacon, hashbrown, and house-made chipotle aioli on a hard roll. I'd heard good things about this place so when a friend wanted to meet for breakfast and suggested funnels, I decided to check it out. Located right by sleeping giant State Park in Quinnipiac College. It's in a great location although blink and you'll miss it as it's tucked away. The interior was nice and the menu was well placed however, I was not very impressed with my sandwich. I ended up getting the Caprese Panini, but when I got it, it was oozing o Out cheese because I think it needed a more substantial bread than I was given. With my unsweetened iced tea it came out to be about $14 which was not a bad amount, but the sandwich left a little bit to be desired. My friend got an egg sandwich and it looked much better so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing and we'll have to try out some other breakfast items. read more

I used to drive by this place all the time curious how it was. Well I'm very glad I decided to stop in one day. This is officially my new favorite breakfast spot. Best bacon egg and cheese I've ever had. The avocado toast is great. I also enjoyed my omelette. I cut it in half and made a sandwich with the sour dough bread and avocado. It was phenomenal. I love the music played there too, it creates a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. There was so many people in there yet it was still quiet; I could hear the music clearly. The prices were reasonable, the service was outstanding and most importantly, the food is incredible -- especially their unbeatable breakfast sandwich that has a hold on me--especially now, as I navigate the cravings of pregnancy. It's not just food, it's comfort. And for that, I'll always be a devoted fan. That said, I do have a few bones to pick--offered with love, of course. I've noticed the prices have crept up recently, which I can understand in this economy (and w the costs of eggs soaring), but it's starting to make my go-to comfort meal feel like a luxury splurge. What really stings, though, is the hit-or-miss nature of the service lately. The online ordering system was such a convenience--especially for those of us who are juggling a million things (and growing a tiny human). Its disappearance has been deeply felt. Even more puzzling is the inconsistency with phone orders. On more than one occasion, I've called and called with no answer. Recently, I was so frustrated (and craving that sandwich so badly), I walked into the café after calling like, 15 times and--surprise!--it wasn't busy. I called again while in the store and turns out, the ringer had been turned off. Oof. Listen friends, this all comes from a place of love. You have something *really special* here. You've built a loyal clientele because your food is incredible but, as the old saying goes, "If you can't stand the heat... get the hell out of the kitchen." Punishing your most loyal customers with upped prices and inconsistent, inconvenient service can't be the way to go. So please, bring back the online ordering. Turn the ringer back on. Recently discovered this little local place, and have already been here twice within the last two weeks. This spot differs from other places because it has a little more options than your average breakfast place. The menu is quite unique with a focus on aiolis. I would definitely come here on an empty stomach because the sandwiches are quite filling. I've had the king sandwich which is sausage egg and cheese with a hash brown and maple butter. It was delicious and kept me good until almost dinner time. next time I will ask for a little bit less maple butter or on the side just because it was sweet like a syrup. I met my friend here for breakfast this morning. His choice. I love trying new places, especially when they're tiny little places tucked into unassuming spots! My initial thought was, okay, the floor is sticky, how good will the food be?! The menu is small (love that)! I am an eggs Benedict lover! So I tried theirs, it offered prosciutto and pico de gallo on a homemade biscuit. I replaced the prosciutto with bacon, which they had no problem doing. It had a tasty hollandaise unlike anything I've ever had. All this atop their home fries! I ordered a hot tea, many flavors to choose from, but fresh and hot! Hot is key for me! Used to be GREAT. I understand there are new owners but they are flat out lazy and slow. No gluten free brioche, which they didn't note until I was finally being helped at the register after 10 minutes. It wasn't even busy (we were the only people on line). I'm so sad this place is going rapidly downhill. The workers have no common sense. If you're calling out a drink order and no one's answering, they wouldn't think to check the seating outside. I have been a loyal customer of Funcles over the last 4 years. It was a staple as a student at Quinnipiac. This past weekend I was sadly disappointed to see that it has changed greatly, seems to be under new management. Waited over an hour for a breakfast burrito and an iced coffee which consisted of 95% milk. The service was extremely slow and line barely moved as staff seemed very unorganized. Did a quick search for somewhere near by for breakfast sandwich. This place was a great find! The breakfast options are limited but more variety then just average egg and cheese sandwich. I ordered the breakfast burrito with chorizo. It was loaded with flavor. The chorizo was a good compliment to the pico de gallo, egg and cheese. Not always an aioli fan but this was not loaded and was very good. I have the funcle cafe iced coffee. The staff at the counter was extremely helpful and welcoming. Everything was great. I had heard great things about Funcle's, and I'm so happy we finally made a visit! Their frozen coffee is really a game changer, and my boyfriend loved that his eggs Benny came with prosciutto. It was recommended to me to get the Cali Gal, which was off-menu at the time, but sometimes appears as a special. The combo of avocado, onions, hash brown, and the egg made it a savory, delicious breakfast sandwich that I would definitely order again. Their cinnamon roll and chocolate chip cookie scones were also fantastic! The staff was great, and we were happy to have snagged a table here. Funcle's Café was my second reverse giveaway winner and I finally made it down to Hamden this past weekend! I was so ready for these iconic waffles and frozen coffees and they did NOT disappoint I got the bagel and lox sandwich and the salted caramel frozen coffee and I tell you...if it was socially acceptable to have that ice cream/coffee blend every morning I would My friends got the avocado toast, prosciutto eggs benedict and of course, the waffles everything was so delicious! I didn't take a picture of the breakfast burrito I ordered because I inhaled it. It was a chorizo burrito and man was it good. The hash browns are soft and well seasoned, Pico de Gallo is fresh, and that aioli sauce (I think it's a garlic aioli) brings it to another level. The flavor is there but what really impressed me was the actual wrapping of the whole thing. The burrito is packed, not a giant but it is a good size. I was eating that bad boy in my car while I was driving. Everything held nice and tight as I munched through from end to end. Absolutely delicious. Personally I'd like the chorizo to be more spicy but that's me. Other than that, it's a damn good burrito. read more
