This place nails the essentials: drinks, delicious bagels, friendly staff, and a relaxed vibe that makes you want to hang out for a while. The bagels are soft and chewy as a real CT/NY bagel should be. The cream cheese? Fluffy, smooth, and always spread perfectly. Never sloppy, too much, or too little. Drinks can be a little pricey, but I'm happy to support a small local business. And 95% of the time, they're spot on. They offer fun seasonal drinks that change now and then. I do wish they offered more in the way of breakfast sandwiches, but they always have a decent amount of pastries. Lots of seating both inside and out, and plenty of space for solo work or studying. A great spot if you're looking to post up with your laptop. read more

#19 in my NEW ENGLAND & NY COFFEE SHOP SERIES A cozy coffee shop to work and study! They have outlets, free wifi, plenty of seating, and a parking lot. On the weekends they can get a bit busy, but if you don't mind a little noise, this is the place for you. I got one of their fall speciality drinks: a pumpkin spiced latte and it was good! You could taste the pumpkin spice and the espresso. The drink is on the sweeter side though. They also have all your classic coffee shop drinks. Overall, I would definitely come back here to study and try a new drink. read more

Cute place to do work! Free wifi and a good amount of seating despite being on the smaller side. The parking lot can also get full. The workers were super friendly. The actual consumables are not the greatest, though. They were out of caramel, so I ended up getting an iced chai. It was very watered down and tasted mainly like milk with a tiny bit of chai flavor peaking through. The cinnamon roll was also not a classic cinnamon roll and was flakier like a palmier. What an adorable coffee shop! This place can get really busy, but despite how busy they can get the staff is always friendly and works hard to get your coffee. This place has a small parking lot. Stopped in to grab a latte and enjoy the company of my friend. I got a hot pistachio latte with oat milk. It was delicious. We sat at the counter style seating in front of one of the windows. Pools of sunshine filled this lovely coffee shop adding to the bright and airy feel. The seats were surprisingly comfy. I loved that I could rock a bit with my back in the chair. Ground up Coffee offers many delectable coffee treats from espressos to macchiatos and everything in between. They also have a case of lovely looking pastries. There is plenty of parking and the establishment is easy to get to. They are reasonably priced as well. I will definitely be coming back. read more

The coffee here is okay, if you are more into sweeter (dunkin/starbucks) this place is for you . If you are looking for a solid latte or cappuccino I probably wouldn't recommend as the beans tasted slightly burnt and you can taste them if you don't use sugar or a flavoring. Their cold foam is pretty baller though. They do have indoor seating and food options in addition to coffees and teas. read more

Such a cute place to grab coffee! I ordered the fruity pebbles iced latte and wish I got a bigger size because it was so delicious and not overly sweet. Cute little place, VERY clean. This was my first visit and as a home coffee bean roaster myself so I always rate coffee quality by ordering a regular drip coffee to really taste the beans. Overall a decent cup, nothing too special, but I would for sure opt for this over a commercial coffee place any day. The staff was friendly and they offer indoor and outdoor seating. I was new to this place and no one greeted us or told us I was standing at the wrong counter to order while my baby was crying--stood there for almost 5 minutes. When I ordered I pointed to the only blueberry muffin in the case for my toddler and once I got in the car noticed it was not the one I pointed to but a much different looking muffin with very few and random blueberries. I was so confused. It was for my three year old ... I know she won't be as excited since it won't be blue like the one I pointed at. And very sadly--Tastes nothing like a blueberry muffin. The cinnamon bun is dry, too. Coffee is good enough but I would it likely go back to this spot. Only went bc Whitney Donuts was closed. :( read more

Friendly service and good coffee. This place had a nice friendly feel where everybody knew everybody. The staff was kind and easygoing. The place itself is cute and small, quiet, a perfect place to study or meet with a friend or two. One of the only downfalls of it having that small, homey feel is that there isn't much parking and there aren't a lot of seats inside. Overall would go here again! read more

Been waiting for a coffee shop i could walk to in this area for a LONG time! For me, a coffee shop doesn't have to do much to hit five stars. Make it easy to order (check), be friendly but not too friendly (if you're not yet aware, this is a coffee house staple and it's ESSENTIAL, also check), and have good coffee (double check!). I ordered a plain cappuccino and a couple baked goods. The espresso was top notch. The lamest thing you can say about a review of a US coffee shop is "it reminds me when i was back in Italy!" but unfortunately that's the case here. I'm excited to come back and try the drip coffees and cold brew and honestly i'll probably do it tomorrow. The muffin and cookie were great. I'm pretty sure they're not baking in-house (don't quote me on that), but wherever they're getting stuff from was excellent. I rounded up the muffin crumbs afterward and ate those too. The layout is a little wonky, but the vibes are great. Probably not a place you wanna sit and read a book for a couple hours, but it feels like they're going for a little more of a takeout vibe. The seating is still plentiful and i got to wave to some nice dogs on the sidewalk. Always a plus. read more

My absolute favorite coffee shop in Connecticut! I travel a lot for work and try different coffee shops while on the road and I must say ground up coffee is my absolute favorite. The atmosphere is perfect for doing emails and getting work done while sipping on my favorite lattes. I haven't been able to find a latte that compares to this one yet. The coffee and sandwiches are good but two days in a row we had a young lady wasn't very friendly and complaining about having to make too many bagels (to her coworker) when we ordered a few bagel sandwich's. We tried to be so friendly but she seemed very irritated that we had a big order (3 sandwiches and bagel). We went down to Egg and Cheese the next day and they were incredibly friendly and awesome food so that's our spot now. read more

I was exited to try this new coffee shop in town, and finally I did it. The service was good fast an friendly. I wanted to try the coffee, but I asked for a substitute of dairy milk, however the only two options that I saw were oats and almond milk, no coconut milk , which is the one that I find healthier. That's the reason why I couldn't tried the coffee at this time. I ordered an almond croissant, which was ok, (not worth it $6.83). Lilly, who referred to herself as the manager, interacted in an unprofessional manner. Terrible customer service. I asked for my money back after say mentioned that she was the manager. She yelled for me to get out and I am not welcomed at the shop. This is after I mentioned that I won't be returning. She even threatened to call the police and yelled causing chaos but stated I am causing the chaos and she is the victim. The actual manager did give me a gift card. I appreciate his professionalism. Unfortunately, I will not return to this coffee shop due to this interaction. read more

Just stopped in for the first time. Great coffee and Brooklyn Donuts today. The pistachio cold brew is out of this world. Lily and Nasera are super nice and very pleasant. Love that there's a local coffee shop only 4 minutes from me in Hamden! I've been here a few times now and the first time was when I took these photos. I got a small iced caramel latte with oat milk which was delicious. The barista was super friendly and knew how to make a really good latte. The next couple of times I had different baristas and while unfortunately my lattes were a little more watery with a lot more caramel (same order), the baristas and service was still great. My main recommendation is that they get some more practice in with making lattes look like the picture attached - creamy and not so watery. With them being new I'm sure they'll work out these kinks. Great coffee and baked goods in a cool little place. I agree with another reviewer that this is set up for a go in, get your coffee and pastry, go out. And it's perfect for that. The staff is efficient and super nice, the coffee is excellent (I've tried an iced Americano and latte) and their baked goods selection is small but excellent. They also toast a delicious bagel from Shef's in Cheshire. All around great place in an area that really needed it! read more
