Fast forward to today, I love finding Cohen's Bagels at local coffee shops. I finally was able to visit their store and I was very impressed by the selection available since it was after the morning rush. I got a Bagel Melt on my favorite Cheddar Cheese Bagel. This was so cheesy! It had chive cream cheese, cheddar cheese, tomato, and raw onion. The sandwich was very messy. I also got an Iced Chai Tea Latte that was pretty good. I like their bagels because of the variety of flavors, there are chewy, perfectly sized,!and easy to eat. The staff were very friendly and my order came out quick. There was even a large dining room area (this is where you picked up your order). It was very spacious, many tables, clean, and open. I will be back again at Cohen's Bagel because they are my favorite where it's stopping for a quick lunch or grabbing an assortment of bagels and breads for at home.

I waited for half hour for the line to move, before I made it inside. They still had plenty of Xmas themed bagels. I got a dozen. The staff were super nice, attentive, and worked really fast to get people in and out as soon as possible. The place itself is nice big bright and inviting. I got a half dozen of their green and red plain bagels, a Jalapeno cheddar bagel with plain cream cheese and bacon (they put lots on yum and it was crispy), and another plain holiday bagel with their Christmas bark cream cheese. These were some of the best bagels I've ever had thus far in my life. The dozen remained warm for an hour after I picked them up. They were so soft all day, from morning, well into the evening. I can't wait to go back and I'm super happy I waited in that line. My family was extremely happy to try them as well. Nice Xmas Eve morning delight.

My last few experiences, however, have seen a decrease in bagel size, bagel variety, and cream cheese. To be clear, I'd have been upset if I received this as a Depression-era ration. One star for the coffee, which was hot. Bagel Bros. crew: please head down the street and order a bagel and cream cheese from AM Bagel to see how the competition is packing their parking lot every single day. They spread the cream cheese on both sides with a generous portion as ALL other bagel shops do, and which, at an up charge of $2.34 per bagel in your shop, I hope you will, too. This was a great shop a year ago, but somewhere along the line it seems as if management has decided to squeeze the customer. I may try this spot again in a month or two (truly I used to frequent it), and if this is the quality I receive at that time, I will never return.

The new space is bright, welcoming, and much more accessible to people who may have never discovered this hidden gem before. While I wondered if something would be lost leaving that small neighborhood setting behind, it didn't take long to realize the opposite. The owners, the staff, and the loyal customers have all brought the same warmth and sense of family with them. It still feels like home. I'll admit, though, I was crushed when I learned that Taylor Ham didn't make the move to the new menu. If you read my older reviews, that's actually what brought me through their doors in the first place. It genuinely broke my heart. But loyalty goes both ways. I love this place, so instead of dwelling on what isn't there, I'm making my way through the menu looking for a new favorite. Today I tried the Jalapeño Whopper--bacon, grilled jalapeños, and cream cheese on an everything bagel. It was really good. I discovered that warm cream cheese just isn't my thing, but that's 100% on me, not the sandwich. I also ordered the Gootz: sausage, egg, provolone, sautéed mushrooms, and cherry peppers on a garlic bagel. Outstanding. I'd order that again without hesitation. I'm going to keep working my way through the menu in hopes of finding something that fills the Taylor Ham-sized hole in my heart. And even if I never do, I'll happily keep coming back for their outstanding bagels, incredible spreads, great food, and the feeling you get every time you walk through the door. And while their coffee service is a little different with the pots behind the counter, it's still fantastic. Some places serve breakfast. DeRocco's feels like home.

I went around 8am on a Saturday. While we read the menu it got a little busy. I love the decor colors and little touches. Inside it is pretty cramped with not much room to order and wait. They have a small mobile order section. No indoor seating. Prices are fair. The employee who took the order was fine but not particularly friendly. We ordered the Hot Honey BEC on a croissant. The sandwich tasted good and fresh, however I think they forgot the hot honey we did not taste it at all. The regular hot coffee was basic. I'd stop by again when in the area to try the bagels and cream cheese.

Recently I went to Ground Up coffee in Cheshire and finally had a bagel that lived up to that standard -- They told me that they sourced their bagels locally from Shef's Bagels! I decided to go directly to Shef's on Friday morning around 8:30am. They had already sold out of cinnamon raisin! That's how good this place is. I opted for a French toast bagel which had that subtle hint of maple syrup sweetness (not too overpowering). I guess you really have to get there at 6am when they open to get your pick of all of the bagel flavors. Their cream cheese is also delicious! One final tip: CASH ONLY! (There is an ATM inside) This place is no-frills but has such a nice hometown feeling when you walk in the door. I love supporting this local business!
