4 stars for service, and the muffins! The muffins are soooo damn good! We had the corn and just pull the trigger and order a muffin, it's that good. Our waitress and her mom were running the place which has about 8-10 tables and is pretty non-descript from the outside. The iced tea was good, my eggs were great. The pancakes were thin and more crepe like not fluffy pancakes. Everything is served on wax paper on paper plates. Ambiance is a bit meh. Syrup is not real maple syrup, corn syrup thick not so tasty. A great restaurant. We were there for breakfast and this was seriously the best blueberry muffin I have ever had, hands down! They make everything they serve here, and it was all fantastic! Today I went with my daughter (as always) and she had apple pie French toast and I splurged on the pumpkin pancakes. SO TASTY! There are always savory omelettes made with fresh ingredients. It's such a special treat to come here. I do not see how people are so unhappy with it. Basic and a bit overpriced. Such opportunity with a little breakfast spot to have a unique menu but it is a tiny menu of average diner fair. Our juices--OJ and apple were small 8oz cups for 2.50 each! My husbands french toast special came with a "small order of home fries", literally 8 pieces of potato. The previous restaurant--Meadow Muffin is sorely missed. You're better off going to one of the local diners, you'll get bigger variety. Came in to Crostini at about 10:20 and was seated shortly after entering, there was only one waitress at the time on a Saturday and it wasn't too packed. I came with friends and family and we ordered some short stack of pancakes, bacon egg and cheese sandwich, homefries, and Crostini hash. Everything was absolutely delicious! The food came out within 25 minutes and everything was hot! Coffee is very good as well and our waitress was excellent! I will definitely be coming back! My boyfriend and I tried this place because we had a living social or groupon. Thank god we didn't pay full price! The service was pretty good but the food was not. The bacon was the worst I have ever had. It was thick cut, was a strange color and tasted weird. We order a side of toast, and we got 1 piece of bread for $1.75. Are they serious?? This is a perfect addition to Branford. Crostini is family owned and run. It's in an unassuming spot, but has delicious food! I have had the pleasure of eating here twice now. I have had their chicken cutlet sandwich, and am pleased to report it was juicy, perfectly seasoned. Truly it was all you want in a chicken cutlet sandwich. Today I got to sample the breakfast foods. My husband had the breakfast standard: eggs, toast, bacon, pancakes, hold the home fries. The eggs were ordered over easy and came back perfect. That in itself is hard to get any where. He asked for the bacon to be well done and certainly received that! No overly greasy bacon here! The pancakes were huge and fluffy. I definitely had one happy husband. I, myself got the stuffed French toast. It was a generous Texas toast with a perfect sweet stuffing. The strawberry compote that was on top was the perfect addition. The French toast comes with a side of home fries. They were perfectly crispy, obviously homemade, and just savory! I could have eaten a giant heap of those. **note to try hash next time! Also, it may sound insignificant, but their coffee was just divine. Usually I won't let a waiter/tress keep filling my cup up, but lord keep that stuff coming. The waitress was nice....but that doesn't always make for good food. The menu is limited and for what is served rather pricey. I ordered a bacon, egg & cheese sandwich with home fries @ $4.75 for the sandwich and another $2.50 for the home fries...both were greasy and non appetizing. The coffee was much to be desired. I was going to order the stuffed French toast but at a whopping $10.95 opted for the sandwich. All in all not a cheap place for breakfast. McDonalds would have been better. The breakfast menu itself is rather limiting and the inside was not really updated since Meadow Muffin left some time last year.
