The stuffed breads are always 10/10. Always a go to take out item for every party. Came here for lunch on a Sunday, there was only one waitress upon our arrival which was fine since it was only us (party of 3) and one large party when we first got there. It did get busier however soon after and she did her best to keep with with all the tables, a bus boy did arrive shortly after as well helping clear tables and run items. Waitress was able to recite all specials ( appetizers & dinners ) straight from memory without reading off of anything which i appreciate. Warm bread is served to start, i had chicken marsala for my meal which is my go to item to test at a restaurant I've never been too. It was okay, nothing to rave about but i didn't hate it. The waitress gave an option of pasta or vegetable as a side, i opted for pasta thinking it would be served under the chicken or plain on the side, it come out with marinara sauce on it which was a little strange to me. Mariana sauce wasn't my favorite, but nothing a lot of cheese couldn't fix. The establishment is actually pretty large inside, slightly dark and dingy and could use a revamp but you can tell it's well loved. All in all a decent experience and decent meal. read more

LoMonaco's is consistently excellent. Everything on the regular dinner menu is very enjoyable, especially the zuppa de pesce, and they always have a nice selection of daily specials. The service is great. The staff is attentive but not overly so. It doesn't hurt that their prices are more than reasonable. read more

I had read good reviews and was eager to try this place. The ambiance is nice, if a little cozy, and the ac was on the blink the night we were there. But the food and the service was everything I'd heard. I had a wonderful special portobello/shrimp appetizer that was just delicious! I also had a special swordfish dish over spinach that was equally fabulous! My companions had the stuffed shrimp and caesar salad with chicken and they liked them both very much. I'm happy to have found this authentic Italian dining experience in my newly adopted state of Connecticut. We will certainly be back! read more

I have seafood over pasta and it was amazing. It had clams, mussels, scallops, jumbo shrimp and squid. The fish sauce to pasta ratio was just right. The sauce was loaded with flavor. It only cost $27 , I reviewed the same meal 6 years ago, and it was $24. The other dishes at out table look very good and every one enjoyed them. The place was packed and the service was slow. The waitress told us they were down 3 people, so everyone had to do double duty. This is the new normal for eating out today, so I am not going to complain about the service. read more

If you want homemade bread during meals, this is the place where you will experience that. Let me not even talk about the deserts with a touch of espresso. The service is smooth and delightful. My family has been getting pizza from here for years and always have enjoyed it. Tonight was my first time dining in on their restaurant side and it was such a stellar experience. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The prices are fair and the portions are generous. I absolutely loved every bite of my chicken marsala and the special portobello mushroom appetizer. We visited this place because we won a gift certificate at a event we went to in the area. I am so glad we won and were able to learn about this place. This place reminded me of an old time Italian restaurant (definitely in a good way). The tables were socially distanced and the service was excellent. For starters we had the Antipasto Freddie which was cold Italian meats and cheeses, served with a few olives and other veggies. For our entrees I had the Vitello Lomanaco which is Veal Scallopine-sautéed with pignoli and almonds, topped with Parma Prosciutto with eggplant rollatini and mozzarella. The meal was simply out of this world. It was so flavorful. Every bite was so good with different textures and tastes. It was the perfect serving not too large nor way too small. My girlfriend had the Chicken Casalinga, served with wild mushrooms, onions and peppers with a kick. She loved her meal. We were so pleased with our meals. Although we were stuffed we had to have dessert, so we tried the tiramisu which was equally delicious. We will definitely come back to try other options. Great Italian food at a decent price point. Place was packed on a Saturday night. We had reservations and were seated within 5 minutes. Place was a little dated but clean with white tablecloth service. Waitstaff was excellent from start to finish. We started with their escarole soup and it was excellent. The bowl size can feed two. Two of us had the chicken parmigiana with ziti /angel hair. It was plentiful and delicious. The sauce was excellent. One had the gnocchi dinner. A big bowl with good sized gnocchi, half of which came home with her. There was a good wine selection which we all picked from. Love LoMonaco's!! Never had pizza from there yet that's my next thing to try. But we've gone in for dinner several times before and after the pandemic. One of the things I love is shrimp parmesan which technically isn't on the menu in the restaurant but they will make it so if there's something that's on the "Takeout Menu" it will make it for you it comes with your choice of pasta as well as salad. Of course they bring nice warm piping bread to the table with cheese olives & oil for dipping. I always get the same thing every time. My mother has gotten the eggplant rotolini, my dad sometimes gets what I get or the chicken parmesan. Portion sizes are huge! Absolutely delicious food coming from a Long Island New York transplant it's one of the best places for Italian food on the shoreline. read more

Lomonaco's is a small place in Branford. We went for a nice relaxing dinner. We started with the mussel appetizer which was the best dish of the night. Then I had the lo monaco it was great but a little salty and my Boyfriend had the veal parmigiana. The veal needed some work as the sauce tasted extremely tangy and lacked flavor of richness. Our server Danielle was amazing. It's definitely a must try but stick to sauces that aren't just regular. read more

Prices are very good & reasonable in Branford area. However, the pizza was about average. Probably more like a 3.5 star place but the great prices get it to a 4. Got a sausage pizza & it was only $11 for a 16" pizza. Nothing special. Biggest issue was that they didn't cut through it that well that after 3 pieces I realized we had to get our own pizza cutter out. Also got the Chicken & Cheese Stuffed Bread. Only $6.50 which I should have realized was too good to be true. Filling was really good but the size was just really small. But again for the price it is still a steal of a deal. read more

OMG! We LOVED it here! We have been wanting to try this place for years & finally we went for dinner last week. It was definitely worth the wait! Their dining room is classy & elegant, while still making you feel "at home". I loved their Tuscan Decor! They also have another dining room that could hold private parties. We had their delicious Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms which were on special. They make the BEST Fried Calamari we've ever had! Perfectly fried, yummy marinara sauce, not greasy, just melt in your mouth delicious! For dinner I had the Scallops Scampi which were the small bay ones (I think) over linguine in a garlic, white wine & butter sauce. Again, perfectly seasoned & cooked. My husband had the Cavatelli Bolognese which he said was thick & rich with goodness. We loved their homemade bread & our attentive Server, Danielle was just lovely. We were so full we took our dinner salads to go, along with another nights leftovers for both of us! Reasonable prices, delicious food, menu selections were plentiful, plus they had many evening specials. Service was spot on & we will definitely be back! They're not consistent with pizza or any food. Sometimes it's the best pizza or steak sub and you go the next week and it sucks. We met a good friend of our there for lunch today. The food was absolutely superb. I had the filet of sole over spinach with lemon sauce, my husband had the scallops scampi and our friend has the Shrimp Salad. So delicious. I was impressed that both the portions and the price was very appropriate for lunch. Our waiter was very engaging, he knew we had not seen each other for a long time and so did not rush us but made sure we were well taken care of. Such a great experience.
