My husband and I had a wonderful experience dining at Lomonaco's Friday night with another couple. All four of us had different things and very, very diverse from the Toscano salad with shrimp, chicken Parm, and two specials including carbonara and veal with cavatelli. Included with dinner was fresh warm bread with oil for dipping and was so delicious. Everything was superb and over the top including the staff! The portions were so large, we enjoyed the next day. It's so reasonably priced and so peaceful in there and makes you feel like you're back twenty years when everything was so wonderful and romantic. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant!! read more

Amazing food service and menu! We love the quality of the food and pricing! Always consistently excellent

Had a great time on Saturday dining with a friend. Bread was warm and soft. Lovely seafood entrees. even took a pizza to go! Server was nice and attentive but not smothering. read more

Once again, LoMonaco's shines brightly. The staff couldn't be nicer. The service was perfectly paced-no rushing here. Portions are generous and the meal expertly prepared. I brought half of my meal home and enjoyed it-swordfish, artichokes, onions, tomatoes & asparagus-just as much reheated gently. Bravo! read more

The stuffed breads are always 10/10. Always a go to take out item for every party. Came here for lunch on a Sunday, there was only one waitress upon our arrival which was fine since it was only us (party of 3) and one large party when we first got there. It did get busier however soon after and she did her best to keep with with all the tables, a bus boy did arrive shortly after as well helping clear tables and run items. Waitress was able to recite all specials ( appetizers & dinners ) straight from memory without reading off of anything which i appreciate. Warm bread is served to start, i had chicken marsala for my meal which is my go to item to test at a restaurant I've never been too. It was okay, nothing to rave about but i didn't hate it. The waitress gave an option of pasta or vegetable as a side, i opted for pasta thinking it would be served under the chicken or plain on the side, it come out with marinara sauce on it which was a little strange to me. Mariana sauce wasn't my favorite, but nothing a lot of cheese couldn't fix. The establishment is actually pretty large inside, slightly dark and dingy and could use a revamp but you can tell it's well loved. All in all a decent experience and decent meal. read more

Take out pizza is the best in town. Hands down. The prices are very reasonable, I picked a few different grinders for friends last month and everyone was very pleased read more

LoMonaco's is consistently excellent. Everything on the regular dinner menu is very enjoyable, especially the zuppa de pesce, and they always have a nice selection of daily specials. The service is great. The staff is attentive but not overly so. It doesn't hurt that their prices are more than reasonable. read more

I had read good reviews and was eager to try this place. The ambiance is nice, if a little cozy, and the ac was on the blink the night we were there. But the food and the service was everything I'd heard. I had a wonderful special portobello/shrimp appetizer that was just delicious! I also had a special swordfish dish over spinach that was equally fabulous! My companions had the stuffed shrimp and caesar salad with chicken and they liked them both very much. I'm happy to have found this authentic Italian dining experience in my newly adopted state of Connecticut. We will certainly be back! read more

Loooooong wait for service. 2nd time we patronized the restaurant and once again were seated in a very tight space. Not comfortable at all. Service was very slow and the staff was frazzled and short. Food was good but the rest of the experience is why we won't be back. read more

Three of us We all had great meals. Waitress was perfect. Loved the portobello app. I had the veal and eggplant. Loved it. The other dishes were shrimp laMonaco and a Salmon special. read more

I have seafood over pasta and it was amazing. It had clams, mussels, scallops, jumbo shrimp and squid. The fish sauce to pasta ratio was just right. The sauce was loaded with flavor. It only cost $27 , I reviewed the same meal 6 years ago, and it was $24. The other dishes at out table look very good and every one enjoyed them. The place was packed and the service was slow. The waitress told us they were down 3 people, so everyone had to do double duty. This is the new normal for eating out today, so I am not going to complain about the service. read more

My family has been getting pizza from here for years and always have enjoyed it. Tonight was my first time dining in on their restaurant side and it was such a stellar experience. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The prices are fair and the portions are generous. I absolutely loved every bite of my chicken marsala and the special portobello mushroom appetizer. I was so full I did not have room for dessert but the tiramisu looked delish! I cannot say enough nice things about the staff and owners of this establishment. Will definitely be back! read more

We visited this place because we won a gift certificate at a event we went to in the area. I am so glad we won and were able to learn about this place. This place reminded me of an old time Italian restaurant (definitely in a good way). The tables were socially distanced and the service was excellent. For starters we had the Antipasto Freddie which was cold Italian meats and cheeses, served with a few olives and other veggies. For our entrees I had the Vitello Lomanaco which is Veal Scallopine-sautéed with pignoli and almonds, topped with Parma Prosciutto with eggplant rollatini and mozzarella. The meal was simply out of this world. It was so flavorful. Every bite was so good with different textures and tastes. It was the perfect serving not too large nor way too small. My girlfriend had the Chicken Casalinga, served with wild mushrooms, onions and peppers with a kick. She loved her meal. We were so pleased with our meals. Although we were stuffed we had to have dessert, so we tried the tiramisu which was equally delicious. We will definitely come back to try other options. I am so glad we won the raffle which gave us the gift certificate to try this awesome place!!! read more

LoMonaco's is the Italian staple of Branford when going out or ordering take out. They make everything by hand, nothing is frozen, it is all fresh. If you want homemade bread during meals, this is the place where you will experience that. Let me not even talk about the deserts with a touch of espresso. The service is smooth and delightful. The ambiance is very relaxed and nothing over the top. The drinks are very tasteful, once you have one, you'll definitely need another. Go and check them out. 10/10 read more

Great Italian food at a decent price point. Place was packed on a Saturday night. We had reservations and were seated within 5 minutes. Place was a little dated but clean with white tablecloth service. Waitstaff was excellent from start to finish. We started with their escarole soup and it was excellent. The bowl size can feed two. Two of us had the chicken parmigiana with ziti /angel hair. It was plentiful and delicious. The sauce was excellent. One had the gnocchi dinner. A big bowl with good sized gnocchi, half of which came home with her. There was a good wine selection which we all picked from. No room for dessert this trilobite will definitely be back again read more

Wow! First time visit. This place is exceptional! Wait staff is amazing. Food is some of the best Italian I have experienced. Soup, outstanding! Calamari outstanding! The entrées were limited but covered all aspects of what restaurant always have on their menus for choices. Looking forward to the next visit. read more

Love LoMonaco's!! Never had pizza from there yet that's my next thing to try. But we've gone in for dinner several times before and after the pandemic. One of the things I love is shrimp parmesan which technically isn't on the menu in the restaurant but they will make it so if there's something that's on the "Takeout Menu" it will make it for you it comes with your choice of pasta as well as salad. Of course they bring nice warm piping bread to the table with cheese olives & oil for dipping. I always get the same thing every time. My mother has gotten the eggplant rotolini, my dad sometimes gets what I get or the chicken parmesan. Portion sizes are huge! Absolutely delicious food coming from a Long Island New York transplant it's one of the best places for Italian food on the shoreline. read more

Lomonaco's is a small place in Branford. We went for a nice relaxing dinner. We started with the mussel appetizer which was the best dish of the night. Then I had the lo monaco it was great but a little salty and my Boyfriend had the veal parmigiana. The veal needed some work as the sauce tasted extremely tangy and lacked flavor of richness. Our server Danielle was amazing. It's definitely a must try but stick to sauces that aren't just regular. read more

Prices are very good & reasonable in Branford area. However, the pizza was about average. Probably more like a 3.5 star place but the great prices get it to a 4. Got a sausage pizza & it was only $11 for a 16" pizza. Nothing special. Biggest issue was that they didn't cut through it that well that after 3 pieces I realized we had to get our own pizza cutter out. Also got the Chicken & Cheese Stuffed Bread. Only $6.50 which I should have realized was too good to be true. Filling was really good but the size was just really small. But again for the price it is still a steal of a deal. read more

OMG! We LOVED it here! We have been wanting to try this place for years & finally we went for dinner last week. It was definitely worth the wait! Their dining room is classy & elegant, while still making you feel "at home". I loved their Tuscan Decor! They also have another dining room that could hold private parties. We had their delicious Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms which were on special. They make the BEST Fried Calamari we've ever had! Perfectly fried, yummy marinara sauce, not greasy, just melt in your mouth delicious! For dinner I had the Scallops Scampi which were the small bay ones (I think) over linguine in a garlic, white wine & butter sauce. Again, perfectly seasoned & cooked. My husband had the Cavatelli Bolognese which he said was thick & rich with goodness. We loved their homemade bread & our attentive Server, Danielle was just lovely. We were so full we took our dinner salads to go, along with another nights leftovers for both of us! Reasonable prices, delicious food, menu selections were plentiful, plus they had many evening specials. Service was spot on & we will definitely be back! Looks like they also do a very busy pizza takeout business as well! Please check this local gem out! read more

Food is always Amazing as well as the service! Fresh ingredients as well! They also have the best red sauce i have ever had!

We order from here often! Fantastic. Their Healthy, Lite & Delicious Pizza is amazing. Could not be any better! The Tomatoes, Cheese, & Crust are distinctive & so delicious!!! Not sure what their secret is, but blows us away every time. Kudos! Our favorite pizza! read more

I heard good reviews of this place and thought we'd give it a try...in my opinion it was just ok! The waitress had an air about her...not really impressed and actually think this was a first and a last...oh by the way don't go there expecting to have pizza...NOT! read more

I recently enjoyed a Sicilian Pizza from here & it was quite enjoyable. It was thick & tasty & I will return!

They're not consistent with pizza or any food. Sometimes it's the best pizza or steak sub and you go the next week and it sucks. Guys the cheese in the Philly cheese steak is supposed to be melted with the meat n the onions etc. Not on the bread like it's a cheese burger. Teach your grill guy to do it the way you used to. We did not like the food. We got takeout and it was subpar Italian cuisine. Definitely will not be a repeat customer.
