We went to the XPress because it's closer and it is such a cute little spot. Pulling up you see the graphics on the side and they have little picnic table areas to sit. Inside is cozy with a coffee bar little area and the glass cases showing you the selections. Workers were all nice and accommodating. The food was good. I got an everything bagel, and you would think something that simple can't be messed up but it can. Some places barely put the "everything" on an everything bagel and it's dissatisfying but fancy bagels loads it up how it should be! Tasteful sandwiches as well. read more

Fancy Bagel Xpress ("FBX") is popular in CT Bagel World. I've been to the Southington Fancy Bagel, but my first trip to The X was today. I'm a fan. FBX is a small shop in the middle of a residential area. Talk about a plot twist. I was expecting it to be in a business area. There was a short line when I walked in on Saturday around 9:45 am, and several people were waiting for their orders. They managed the line and backlog well, and I never felt like we were waiting an unreasonable time given their obvious popularity. I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese on a toasted Sesame as my primary bagel, but I had to order a sourdough bagel with veggie cream cheese as well and had part of that. Veggie cream cheese is one of the ways I compare bagel places. My SEC was very good. The bagel had a load of sesames. The bagel had good chewy texture. The sausage and American cheese were very good. FBX had a different take on the egg than most places. It's as if they made a thin omelette style egg and then wrapped it around the sausage. This worked well, but I'm partial to a fried egg with a touch of yolk run. I've never made this observation about a bagel before, but the sesame bagel seemed like it had a below average amount of salt in the dough. It was still good and I suspect this was a one off thing since I didn't notice this with the Sourdough bagel. Also, the salt from the sausage and cheese helped balance this anyway. The Sourdough bagel was also very good texture wise. If we're all food snobs about certain things, one of mine is veggie cream cheese. I knew I was in good shape as soon as I saw the color of FBX's VCC, which was a very pale yellow green. The cream cheese was uniformly smooth, but it was obvious that fresh herbs and other veggies had been blended in. Dill stood out as a flavor. FBX had a different style of VCC, and it's the first new attention-grabbing VCC I've had in a while. Fancy Bagel Xpress is deservedly a well loved Bagel Shop. My iced coffee was also good. Wow. Color me impressed! I'm very selective about my bagels and I can firmly say Fancy Bagel Xpress just got added to my very short list! Between the cream cheese and bagel lineup and the bomb sandwich we didn't know what we wanted more! They also had amazing smoothies. Still thinking about that strawberry pina colada! We had a great experience with a great staff and a cool space. Outside seating is available, but be aware inside is pick up only! This is a must stop! read more

One visit to Fancy Bagels, and I have to say these are some of my new favorite bagels in the state! This is the first Fancy Bagels location I've visited, but I like how this one is tucked away in a residential area. They have some tables outside to eat at, so we had a peaceful morning as we enjoyed our bagels. The sweet and savory options we had were all delicious, but something that really stood out to us was the green pepper jelly. It was so yummy on the ham egg and cheese! There's a great variety of bagel and cream cheese flavors to choose from, but you'll definitely want to go early to get the bagels you want before they're picked over. Stopped by to grab breakfast this morning. Parking lot has plenty of space. Walked in and was immediately greeted. There were lots of employees working and the girls up front were very nice. I ordered 4 different items and from the time I walked in to the time I left, it may have been 5 minutes at most. Compared to the standard Fancy Bagel locations I have been to, this location puts express to shame. Little to no wait. Fantastic and helpful staff. Delicious, reliable bagels (I would argue that the choices are better than their larger counterparts) and staff is 10x friendlier. Great food, expansive menu. And, an adorable little spot to boot. They have Harvest Bakery donuts now too! A large assortment of coffee flavors, danishes, muffins. You can't go wrong with a quick breakfast here! read more

What a find!!! Had to take a guy from work for breakfast and this is what he suggested. First off the bagels are awesome the service is quick and funny. Walk in and spin the bagel wheel see what you get !! If not pick your bagel and they have everything , jalapeño, everything with or without cheddar and the breakfast sandwiches are awesome. I had an everything with cheddar with steak and eggs with fried peppers and onion and it was amazing. The express location is in a family area surrounded by houses off the main strip is somewhat small with selections of juice and water and coffee. Service was quick the meal was delicious. I'm gonna go back just try a toasted bagel with the different cream cheeses they have. They have a main store on route 10 main road in southington in a shopping plaza which I would expect might be a little busier but just as delicious . Worth a try no matter which location read more

if i could give more then 5 stars, i definitely would. 5++++ I live in Tucson, AZ. i went to fancy bagels xpress while visiting my MIL who is at the Mulberry Gardens in Plantsville. loved it!!! it may be a small place but it's big on giving great customer service. the food is delicious and the prices are very great! i had the pleasure to meet & be helped by Natalie. we had a great conversation about the song that was playing, 9-5 movie, which she was happily singing to. :) her smile is contagious & made my day for sure . i am a stickler when it comes to customer service & she didn't disappoint me at all. it's obvious she loves working there & it shows. she made sure to say goodbye to me & used my name. the next day when i went for my bagel with eggs, she greeted me by name. :) they have a program where you pay for a bagel or bagel & drink ahead of time, for anyone who doesn't have the $ to pay. they put a coupon up on the board & distribute it that way. they follow the golden rule of "pay it forward", just like the movie. i always support the local business wherever i go. it's the only way they will stay open. i wish i lived nearby cause i'd be going alot. if you haven't tried it, do so. you'll be so glad you did. thank you to Natalie & cooks in the back for an excellent job. Never again! After a previous bad experience I decided to give fancy bagel express another chance. Unfortunately, this place is not up to the standards of the other fancy bagel locations. Called in my order, waited 20 minutes to pick up. When I arrived they they had lost my order. I reordered and waited another 20 minutes to get the food. I drove off slightly annoyed only to realize they had messed up the order and had added cheese which I am allergic to. 40 minutes and $6.00 for nothing. Go somewhere else. read more

So far what I've tried has been great, the bacon egg and cheese is very flavorful and they don't skimp on the toppings. The hash brown bowl has been my go to it's basically an omelette with hash-browns on top! The staff has also been friendly. read more

Fancy bagels are my absolute favorite. The bagels (and food in general) deserve 5 stars. This review is solely based on service. We live close to Fancy Bagel Xpress and adore the picnic table space outside. My 7.5 y/o son and 3 y/o daughter also love it - eating bagels and running through the grass - what's better?!? We have been multiple times and there is one woman in particular (tall tattooed blonde) who has just the ugliest attitude. Every time we go - she has a puss on her face and is treating her staff terribly. I let it go the first time thinking maybe she was just having a bad day. The next time - I actually said something to my husband about her crappy attitude. Then - most recently - my sister (who lives out of town) went there to grab bagels for a birthday brunch and lo and behold - she walks into the house talking about how horrible the tall blond ladies attitude was. She was yelling at staff and just downright rude to my sister at 8:30 in the morning when she was ordering a dozen bagels FROM A BAGEL SHOP. That woman alone has caused Fancy Bagel Xpress to loose an entire family of customers based off the way she acts/treats people. Such a shame. read more

The food is good, which makes writing this review hard. However, the every time I've gone into Fancy Bagel Xpress the staff has been rude to me & to my family. Unfortunately I cannot justify going in anymore given how awfully the staff treats their patrons, especially the woman with the tattoos. She made my nieces extremely uncomfortable last week, and me uncomfortable this week. Absolutely incredible bagels with service to match - from the moment I stepped in I was greeted by three cheerful staff members who patiently and kindly explained several different bagel flavors, answered my questions about cream cheese options, and told me about the weekly specials. Everyone was tremendously professional and welcoming, it actually made me want to stay inside chatting for longer. I ended up getting a peach lemonade, which was absolutely perfect and delicious for a summers day (and not too sweet! Very refreshing and gently tart like you want with lemonade, with a splash of fresh peach juice), and a toasted everything bagel. I grew up eating good bagels so I had high expectations. This might be the best everything bagel I've ever had. It was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly cooked. There is an option to have it double toasted but I think the regular toasted options adds the perfect amount of crispness. The scallion cream cheese is divine. I will absolutely be coming back and plan to bring a cooler. Delicious!!! My food was out extremely quickly and the price was very reasonable. I love that there are picnic tables out to enjoy the nice weather. There's also an outdoor bean bag board and a tiny table and chairs for little kids, which is just adorable. The food today was great as usual. The cashier was perhaps having a bad day. She seemed like us ordering was ruining her day.

I had a terrible first experience here today. Went in and they were very busy so I was totally ready to wait and be understanding. However, the long line turned out to be people waiting for their food who had already ordered. None of the workers asked if anyone needed to order. Then I went up to the counter and asked to order a half dozen bagels. The girl who was working said " no sorry we can't do a half dozen bagels" with no other explanation. I looked at the menu confused because a half dozen bagels is an option. I said "can I do a dozen then?" She said "no". So finally I inferred that they were running low on bagels. So I said "how many can I have" and she said "I can do 4" so I ordered 4 and 2 coffees. She rang me up and I realized that I never bought cream cheese to go with it (and she didn't remind me). I grabbed the other girl who was working there and asked if I could order cream cheese since we forgot in the last transaction and she rang me up. It came out to $4 ... she said "just so you know there's a $5 minimum for card". This made me mad because I had already ordered over $5 worth in the last transaction. Also they didn't offer me a knife, didn't offer to cut the bagels, and didn't provide napkins. Having worked in the food industry and customer service myself I am always very understanding and patient, but the rudeness and lack of care was absolutely inexcusable. read more

Similar to the other reviews on here, I also had a bad experience with the staff at this Fancy location. The cashier in particular was a short blonde with glasses and she was just awful. On top of the fact that she just seemed bothered by our presence, my parents purchased 2 coffees and when all the pots were empty, she said, "well we close in 20 minutes" and proceeded to take all of the pots away. When she forgot our hash browns as well, everyone seemed confused as to why I went back and asked for them, umm hello?? because we paid for them! I work in customer service and I get having bad days but just because you close in 20 minutes doesn't make me or my family less of a customer. Will not be returning to Fancy Xpress until they get a hold on their staff and learn how to treat customers. read more

Fancy Bagels in Farmington CT location are the best bagels in town. I've been going there since college (1993). But the issue I have is that the girls behind the counter seem to ignore customers who are waiting to be served or waiting to cash out. Especially during the week. Most of us want to come in and get out to go to work. But because the girls are not concentrating on the service it takes longer. It's like twofold - I love the bagels but I hate how the girls can care less about the customers. read more
