The bagel had an excellent crust and was soft on the inside. The bread itself was flavorful and not bland. It felt like the dough had a good amount of salt happening it. The textures are what I look for in a bagel. A good bite on the outside and soft on the inside. I'll definitely stop back. It's a good addition to the area.

For breakfast, I typically get a sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. My wife enjoys their homemade chive cream cheese on an everything bagel. They are a popular place to eat (for a good reason), and I will be back again. The only recommendation I have is if you are going to grab a bagel or bagel sandwich on a Saturday, grab it early (before 10 am). I've gone a couple of times later on a Saturday morning to find out they ran out of the bagel I'd normally get. I still had a delicious meal, but it's just as an FYI as they make their bagels homemade, and my guess is they try to match the need for the day.

The new space is bright, welcoming, and much more accessible to people who may have never discovered this hidden gem before. While I wondered if something would be lost leaving that small neighborhood setting behind, it didn't take long to realize the opposite. The owners, the staff, and the loyal customers have all brought the same warmth and sense of family with them. It still feels like home. I'll admit, though, I was crushed when I learned that Taylor Ham didn't make the move to the new menu. If you read my older reviews, that's actually what brought me through their doors in the first place. It genuinely broke my heart. But loyalty goes both ways. I love this place, so instead of dwelling on what isn't there, I'm making my way through the menu looking for a new favorite. Today I tried the Jalapeño Whopper--bacon, grilled jalapeños, and cream cheese on an everything bagel. It was really good. I discovered that warm cream cheese just isn't my thing, but that's 100% on me, not the sandwich. I also ordered the Gootz: sausage, egg, provolone, sautéed mushrooms, and cherry peppers on a garlic bagel. Outstanding. I'd order that again without hesitation. I'm going to keep working my way through the menu in hopes of finding something that fills the Taylor Ham-sized hole in my heart. So here we are at Cheshire Coffee, a coffee spot that sits oddly enough on the Waterbury side of the town line with Cheshire. Seriously, this place I don't even have to go outside my city limits for, and it is, notably enough in between the same two exits on I-84 as Blackie's is across the line. Much like The Loaded Goat Coffee Company in Naugatuck, this place is very inviting, cozy, with great coffees and excellent customer service. This visit involved an asiago bagel toasted with cream cheese, a beef chimichurri sandwich that the baristas panini-pressed for me, and a Churro Latte. All 3 of these things were good to great. Really, this review is mainly a 4-star review in the way that a place I don't have much of an impression on would get 4 stars. I would need to come back for more things to decide whether or not a 5th star would be warranted. But the interior helps makes a strong case for that star. I was most impressed with the poem on display as I was waiting for my coffee. It's not a detail I've shared yet here on Yelp, but this visit 's prompt me to say this now. So fun fact about me is that once upon a time, I wrote poetry. Late sophomore year of high school and going for a few years after and starting in 2007, I wrote poems any time I felt inspired to do so. I once attended a poetry slam that was held by my high school later in 2007 when I was in the first half of my junior year, and boy was that a great experience! Seeing the poem on display, I am really starting to think about getting back into writing poetry. I just need to find a muse and inspirations.
