Oh my dear heavens this is hands down one of the best bakeries here in Waterbury! Super affordable treats and they are absolutely delectable as well. I purchased a caramel cupcake, 2 glazed donuts, and a cinnamon sugar donut and let me say my companions and I absolutely devoured them! The caramel cupcake was incredibly moist and flavorful with a perfect amount of sweet with the filling and frosting. The service was fairly quick however we did arrive about an hour before they closed so I wasn't expecting to see many people anyways. Nothing much else to say other than it's a pretty good bakery and it's been here for years! Surprisingly the dessert in the middle tastes better after having the after-taste. Same goes for the Baclava donut. The glazed is sometimes a little too sweet, but still good. Also, sometimes from what I remember the cinnamon and sugar could be greasy, but I haven't tried that one in a while. I've tried their sandwiches before as well and they're delicious. I arrived late, which u think was about 11 on a Sunday, and there was little left. No premade sandwiches, and not a lot of variety of donuts. But what they had was delicious! Has there ever been a time where you felt like you cheated when reviewing a place because you knew how good the place was and knew that business had a reputation for being one of the best in the country for what they do? For me, this is that review. This place is ALL the hype! I live in the area, but I unfortunately never really get a chance to come here because I'm awake having to leave for work long before it's open, and it's not in the part of Waterbury I particularly come by too often. I have had these before, but it was always my mother bringing them home. However, today I finally decided to come and have these myself as I am heading to New Haven while typing this out, and today is the day I give this place a proper review. From the moment I walked in, you can tell how busy this place is, but also how welcoming the atmosphere is. And yes, for the Mr. Krabs people out there, we do go to a restaurant for its atmosphere as well as the food. But back on topic, you can tell that not only is it welcoming, it's also a place of history. The Bakers Table you walk by while in line is over 100 years old and it's worth taking a read into to get a sense of how this place came to be. You can buy bread here too, and I actually did buy a loaf because I had run out the other day. If you get the small rye, you will have to slice the bread yourself. Then we get to the displays, and it is so clean and fresh. This is further proof that this place takes great pride in what they do. As I perused my way through, I knew I needed to try something more than just the donuts, so add a chocolate marshmallow cupcake and the cream horn to my order please and thank you! Finally, it came time to consider my choices for the donuts. In the past I've had their jelly donuts, and they are best when you have them chilled. But the donut that was really calling my name was the lemon-filled donut. Wanna know why I wanted that one specifically? Because for me, you can NEVER go wrong with a lemon-filled donut. I prefer that to jelly any day of the week (nothing against the jelly here though, just a personal preference). I actually ate one of them as shown in the photo I took of it and it was divine! So yeah, easy to understand why this is on the list of best donuts in the nation. Between this place, the donut shop I went to in Grand Central last fall on the way back from a rave, and Rise Doughnuts located over in Wilton, it's tough to choose which of these three places I like the most. These are honestly my favorite donuts in CT. These donuts are addicting and one of a kind. They're soft and fluffy and SO good. We get these for a special treat but those calories are so worth it! I even made my husband get up early the day after our wedding and drive up 40 minutes to bring them for our guests for our after wedding brunch. Everyone loved them. The staff here is always great and so friendly. They've got breakfast sandwiches and cupcakes and other breads and baked goods. We arrived on 12/28/25 at 2:50 p.m. and prior to going there, we looked up the hours of operation which said they were open til 4:00 p.m. on Sundays. They told us when we arrived that they were closing in "5 mins" and asked how many people were coming.. they seemed wildly annoyed that we would show up right before they "closed" (although it was an hour and 10 mins before they "closed"). They told us we had 10 minutes to leave and also refused to make us any coffee. Very rude young ladies, and very clearly went and talked about us in the back. We had to actually ask them to come back up to the front to help finish checking us out because they were clearly talking about us. Such a shame because the pastries are pretty good. Now you might be surprised to see only 3 stars here, but let me explain... If I was judging by the donuts and pastries alone, it would be 5 stars all the way! But unfortunately the customer service during my last visit was not so good... I initially went to Brooklyn Baking company a couple weeks ago and, as it was my first time there, decided to try a bunch of different things... everything looked so delicious! I went with a couple Vanilla Funfetti Cupcakes, a Cherry Turnover, M&M Cookie, and a Glazed Donut. All were amazing! Especially the glazed donut, it was light and fluffy and delicious! It reminded me a lot of a Krispy Kreme donut. One of the best I've had in a while! When I was there, I saw that they serve breakfast sandwiches until noon (I had gone later in the day) and so I decided to go back this past weekend in the morning to get a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. When I got there it was fairly crowded, and I asked the female employee for a bacon, egg, and cheese on a hard roll. The employee told me that unfortunately they were out of bacon, but they had sausage if I wanted that instead. Even though I really wanted bacon, I told her that sausage was fine. While I was waiting in line to pay, the lady directly behind me also ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese from a different employee, and that employee did not say anything about them being out of bacon. Then, the man behind her ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese, from a third employee, who again did not say that they were out of bacon. Once I got to the register, I asked the employee (the one who had taken my order) if they were in fact out of bacon, because the two people behind me had just ordered it. She assured me that they were, and said that the other employees probably just hadn't gotten the word yet that they were out of it. I noticed that at no point did any employee tell the lady and man who ordered after me that there was no more bacon, and they were eventually both given their sandwiches. As the lady was leaving, I asked her if she had in fact gotten a bacon, egg, and cheese. She unwrapped her sandwich to check, and it had bacon on it! So I'm not sure why this female employee was so determined not to serve me bacon, it was very strange. I was disappointed that she didn't double-check with the kitchen staff before assuring me there was no more. The sausage, egg, and cheese was very good, though I was disappointed with the employee who took my order. Overall a good spot, but again just a disappointing experience. read more

There's a reason this place is almost 5 stars. The inside is big, open, bright, and spacious. The staff is friendly, inviting, and insightful- I might add, the service hasn't been slow most of my visits. The biggest yes about this place, personally, for me, is the powdered jelly donuts. I'm not a typical fan... ever... of jelly donuts EXCEPT when I go to brooklyn bakery. The dough, the messy powdery sugar, and the filling ... is like no other, I almost find it unfair to call this pastry a jelly donut because other jelly donuts, couldn't compare, (without having experienced them) I just know it. I've had other items like an egg and cheese on a roll which, corn bread, which I couldn't complain about, everything i've tried has tasted so fresh, homemade, and perfectly balanced.
