An impulsive Sunday afternoon trip here was my smartest move lately, as while selection was predictably limited by that time of day, quality was top-notch. These are the fluffiest cake donuts I've had in Connecticut, and not too sweet. The apple-filled raised donut was especially a win, as the filling had a nice tart edge. After a couple disappointing trips to that donut chain that American runs on, I wondered if my taste buds had changed or I just don't like donuts. Turns out I still like good donuts. Not worth it.. There are no prices on the menu, it's $7 for a small one egg sandwiches that are microwave cooked.. the floor was very sticky and there was a nasty odor but not of donuts and coffee. I was in there today, service was very slow, I waited 30 min for a ham egg and cheese and a sausage egg and cheese and a jelly donut. It was a Saturday mid morning so I get it but the food was very mediocre. You are better off going to Dunkin' which is right down the street, you will get better quality, better price and more per serving. Very disappointed with this experience. read more

Good coffee, but the donuts we're dry and under-glazed. I didn't finish mine and neither did my kids who will normally eat anything sweet. Based on the positive reviews, maybe they just don't bake fresh donuts in Sunday, because it's hard to believe that these were made today. What a staple! Best flavored iced coffee in all of the land. They don't use syrup for flavoring so you don't get that gross sugar taste, just the perfect taste of coffee and the exact flavor they promise. I went into the store on Derby Ave I've been there many times in the past and was always satisfied..this time I went about 7 at night because my girlfriend wanted a couple of donuts for her sweet tooth. Upon entering the place was a mess. The place was loaded with clutter. I think they had three variety of donuts. I get it at this time of night the selections are slim and the quality is probably not up to snuff. I got three Boston cream, and three glazed I ate one of the glaze from my girlfriend, and it was one of the worst donuts I think I've ever had, stale no flavor and the texture was weird almost like a French cruller. The guy who sold them to me was a complete jerk, rude snotty. Just a total jerk. When I returned the donuts, he sore and quite put off at the fact that I was returning donuts lol..I told him the reason was because they tasted stale and he kept saying they were made fresh in the day and them being stale was not possible lol.. he hastely opened the register and like a little kid giving a toy he was playing with gave me my 12$ back..I mumbled a few choice words on my way out the door. I wanted to let the manager know about my experience She was also argumentative telling me over and over how they were in business for 40 years and I was the only one who ever complained and brought back their product. I went to big Y and got four donuts and they were some of the best donuts I can remember having so it shouldn't matter what time of day it is if you're going to sell donuts, make sure they're fresh or don't sell them.. I won't go back in there again not because of the donuts, but because of the quality of service plus 12$ for a half dozen stale donuts lol..Try Neil's donuts or Crazy donuts for exceptional donuts and even more..Good customer service which to me is just as important as the product read more

The selection of options was pretty paltry and many of the label signs in front of particular batches of donuts did not match what was being sold. The donuts they did have looked halfway decent but tasted at least a day old or more. They were very accommodating for my vegan diet in helping with ingredients and food options. The food was good too. They've catered for our company and they always throw in free goodies. Support local shops Saturday, so came here to try the donuts out but I wish there was a Krispy Kreme shop instead. Heav'nly Donuts is an Orange/Derby staple. Every time that I come home, I make sure to make a stop here. They have delicious coffee, with wonderful flavor options and also fantastic donuts. My personal favorite, though, is their bacon egg and cheese. They do make it in the microwave, but it is so yummy! I recommend either getting it on a croissant or a bagel. They sometimes run out of croissants so try to get there early (ish), especially on the weekends if you can. I think the BEC here is around $4. There is a drive-up window so you don't even have to get out of your car to get this deliciousness. Service is friendly and fast -- Faster in the restaurant than at the window, but either way, you can get there and out in a timely manner. read more

What a great road trip find. We stopped here on our way from New Jersey to New Hampshire. I asked the woman at the counter how long the business had been there, and we struck up a great conversation about her sons and the business. I couldn't decide between two donuts, and Effie ended up giving us two for free (one was "for the baby," since we're headed to my baby shower). The chocolate stick was incredible (best chocolate donut I've ever had), as was the blueberry, and my husband loved his apple-filled donut. I'm confused - how is a bacon egg and cheese on a hard roll $5.25. The egg is microwaved and garnished with one slice of bacon and one full piece of cheese. I can go down the road for a homemade bagel, fried egg on stove with two slices of bacon for $3.76. Not to mention, my three year old told me her pink frosted donut was cold. As I looked at the donut, the frosting had condensation on it... like it was frozen. The frosting did not look fresh either. When I asked the lady to repeat how much the order came to, she got really defensive. I just want to know how much you will be charging to my credit card. Overpriced, frozen, rushed service. some people i know say i'm a snob because i really dont like to eat at mediocre chains that sell frozen food and can be found in any town, in any state, in malls and on route one. and i am ok with being a snob - if you call supporting smaller locally owned businesses that actually cook fresh food a snobby thing. heav'nly donuts has a few location as far as i know, maybe one or two in mass and maybe another one down here. im not sure, since they dont have a website that i could find. anyway, this donut shop makes some decent baked goods - i think my favorite was the german chocolate, but all were good. the iced coffee i had (it was a hot summer day) was also good and we will definitely be back (and an added bonus is - its on the way to roseland) they have antique/hot rod type car shows in the parking lot - i think thats every sunday night. heav'nly is pretty easy to get to off rt 15 too and have a drive thru - and they have decent hours - i think they were open til 9 every night of the week. read more

I have to agree with what everyone is saying about this place. While it's nice to see an independent donut shop, the tired decor isn't terribly inviting, and the parking lot is rather rough. Since I noticed a brand-new Starbucks opened up just a small distance down the road, I think that Heav'nly Donuts is either going to have to ratchet things up a notch, or go under. The employees are extremely nice, however. It seems to be something of a local hangout. Every time I go in there are handfuls of people sitting and chatting at the tables. The coffee is about what you would expect and the hot chocolate is very good. The donuts are rather ordinary donuts, in size, flavor and variety. There are some specialty pastries in the case, but I haven't tried any yet so can't comment. I suspect the owners are Greek, since they carry Spanikopitas. On my last visit I tried one, but was very disappointed. The heating process made the filo dough soggy, and there was a tinny metallic flavor that overpowered the rather flavorless spinach filling. I took a couple of bites and ended up throwing it away. I think you'd be best just sticking to the coffee and donuts at this place. read more

I love doughnuts, and I mean LOVE. Doughnuts are literally one of my favorite foods to eat. I search intently and drive many miles for doughnuts. That being said. The glazed doughnuts I had here, were extremely dry, with barely any glaze on them. Was not a good doughnut at all. I would want to try again early in the AM, when they are fresh. But I went to this place mid-day, and I did not even finish the doughnut. It was just bland, and nasty. read more
