Stopped by here around 9am on a Saturday and this place was super busy and all for good reasons! We ordered an everything bagel, a cheddar and chive biscuit and salted caramel brownie for a dessert for later. The cheddar and chive scone was delicious and so buttery. The salted brownie was super rich and fudgy. My husband and I shared and it was the perfect amount for both of us. There's a wall to the left side for pick up orders which is very convenient especially for morning rushes. Our order came out pretty quick and we will be back! read more

Perhaps the best baked goods I have ever had?! Went on a Saturday morning around 945am and although we had to wait in line for 30 minutes, each and every bite was worth it! I am an indecisive girl, so of course I had to try a little bit of everything. I got the quiche, pumpkin chocolate chip scone, carrot cake and rice crispy treat. And I don't say this lightly but every one was the best of the best. You can tell these goodies are baked with fresh ingredients and love. I wish I lived closer so I could go back and try more! Def worth the wait. If you are in Milford, this is an absolute must. read more

Scratch Baking is literally made from scratch, because they mill their own grains right on-site. The fast-moving line out the door is a testament to how popular their breakfast sandwiches and specialty coffees are with locals. From their massive, buttery scones to their light, flaky croissants--is unmatched. It's a small, charming shop with limited seating(curbside patio). I tried the tandoori cauliflower sourdough crust pizza (amazing) and the best iced coffee I've ever had.. however their lemon blueberry scone was a bit of a let down. Highly recommend! read more

I've been on the hunt for good cinnamon rolls and decided to try them from Scratch Baking. They only serve them on Friday and Saturday and maybe Sunday? But I got into the long line one recent Saturday and got two. Sooo worth it! Firstly, I'm glad that they came in a box to preserve that beautiful frosting from getting smooshed. Secondly, this was the perfect-tasting cinnamon roll I had been wanting. Too bad they're only available on weekends, but maybe that's a good thing? read more

I've been seeing Scratch Baking on social media quite a bit and finally had the chance to get there yesterday. It was later in the day when I went in, so some of the cases were not as full as I would imagine they are in the morning. However, I was still able to get myself a chocolate chip muffin to have for breakfast the next day. The muffin was hands down one of the best I've had! I put it in the microwave for a few seconds and enjoyed every bite! I definitely want to get back there earlier in the day and try other pastries and bakery items. read more

Those scones have been invading my dreams! Just before Thanksgiving, my wife and I have a ritual. We jump on the Port Jeff Ferry (Yes, I'm from New York) have breakfast at Cracker Barrel and spend the day in Connecticut. We have a few favorite spots but this year we took a chance on Scratch Baking in Milford. What a find! First off, Milford is a very cute town. To have this wonderful bakery in the middle of it all puts the icing on the cake. (See what I did there?) Walking up, the line is out the door. People are getting their Saturday morning coffee and Thanksgiving baked goods. We get to the counter and I order a box of assorted scones, a Tres Leche Coffee, a bag of home made granola and a cranberry nut rye bread. I was served quickly and we're on our way. Sunday morning, I served the scones. Everyone flipped! So moist and flavorful, they were a homerun hit. Me? I'm thinking ahead. Thanksgiving arrives and everyone comes over. The only thing I'm thinking of is getting all the dishes in the dishwasher and saying goodbye to my guests. Now I'm alone with the Turkey. I toast two pieces of my cranberry nut rye bread. I layer some cranberry, stuffing, turkey and homemade gravy to create my annual Thanksgiving sandwich. This ritual is on repeat for a few days. Scratch Baking? I cannot wait to return. read more

So good! From the latte to the amazing chicken cordon bleu sandwich special to the shortbread cookie--everything was tasty and fresh. The hardest part is deciding what to order. It only means one thing: I'll have to go back and try something else on the menu! Luckily, it was a nice day so we could eat at one of the outdoor tables, they don't have seating inside. It was busy with the lunch rush but well worth the wait! read more

I'm not sure if this is mentioned in the reviews, it's probably something I missed... but there is NO SEATING. This place is strictly a 1. You place an order and pick it up OR 2. You order in person, wait for it, and leave. I wasn't expecting that, I wanted some place to hunker down and work so that's on me. But since I was already there I decided to try one of the lattes, a breakfast sandwich, and the brownie of the week- which I thought was cute! Everything impressive! The breakfast sandwich was filling and delicious. The latte wasn't too sweet, it was very smooth. The brownie admittedly was a little too sweet for me, so it lasted me a while because after a few bites my sweet tooth was satisfied. Everything was fresh and amazing! If I'm in the area again I'll certainly stop by. read more

Best croissant in Connecticut! I've tried croissants from many different places, but this one is definitely the best. The flavor is amazing--perfectly buttery, flaky, and crunchy on the outside while soft and delicious inside. You can really taste the quality. Absolutely worth trying! Win. read more

Scratch baking has been on my bucket list for a while & really glad I got to visit! I ended up splitting the egg & cheese in a whole wheat type of bun. It felt very hearty & warmed up was great. I also had a brown sugar cinnamon latte, it was really good & not overly sweet either, to my liking. I also tried the gingerbread cookie sandwich, zucchini loaf, and cinnamon raisin sourdough loaf. Personally, my favorite was the zucchini loaf. It was not overly sweet & the edges had the perfect crust. I would definitely want to try the other items - such as their milk bread Wednesday special. What I also appreciated, is the service provided was swift and friendly. Recommend a visit! read more

Recently moved to the area and I always look for a good coffee shop/bakery. I am so happy I found scratch! From the croissants to the bacon egg and cheese to the chipotle chicken sandwich, you literally cannot go wrong with what you order, everything I've had was delicious. Their vanilla iced lattes are yummy too and the staff is super friendly. There's not much seating just some outside tables but I usually take my order to go. If you haven't tried scratch yet...what are you waiting for?! read more

My son is playing football at SHU so I'm spending weekends in the area this fall. This morning I Yelped a bakery and Scratch Baking caught my eye. This is a small place with a bigger baking area than lobby. The baked goods looked really beautiful and although I went in for coffee only, I asked for a cinnamon bun. It was crispy on the edges and gooey in the middle. The cream cheese frosting was perfect for dipping the bread when you un-scrolled the bun. Just perfect. Good work Scratch Baking. Oh, I also loved the iced coffee. Nice and strong without being bitter. No picture because I devoured before thinking of a pic. read more

I placed an order for various pastries for pickup while I was in the area last weekend and everything was great! I have a gluten intolerance, and I was really impressed with their selection of gluten free pastries. I ordered a rainbow sprinkles Rice Krispies treat- maybe the best I've ever had honestly, a slice of gf zucchini bread with a side of honey butter- absolutely delicious and so moist and a gf peanut butter sandwich cookie- heavenly!! I also got my husband a cinnamon twist, which he loved and said it wasn't dry at all like some places tend to make them. I was glad that I placed an order ahead of time, as it was pretty busy even at 1:00 on a Saturday. My bag was ready and waiting for me when I arrived. Maybe I missed it, but I had just wished they had a bathroom, but maybe I'll investigate next time. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area again! read more

I'm such a fan of this bakery. I've been 4 times since I discovered this place last month. They have some delicious muffins - I'm a fan of the blueberry and mixed berry/zucchini muffins. The zucchini bread is also incredible! They have an array of breads that are great too and I'm grateful that the staff are willing to slice their loaves for customers. Service was effective. They have online order available too! But it was my first time here so I wanted to see the bakery products! The egg and cheese sandwich of the day was delicious!!! Bread is definitely freshly baked!! Rye with seeds, chewy and yummy! Cranberry lemon muffin was so good!!! Not too sweet! Moist and tasty! Monkey bread was one of the best!!! Chocolate muffin was really good too! Love the cute logo and the exterior door! Ambiance inside feels a bit dark, menu on the wall wasn't easy to read. There are seatings outside but nothing inside. read more

After seeing a TikTok video that suggested scratch was really a great place to go, I went again, for the third time. I walked in to one person taking orders with another 10 working in the kitchen, many not supporting customers. There were 11 people waiting for the orders with a few employees fulfilling the orders. I ordered a cappuccino, a bagel with butter (where is the butter) and. Blueberry muffin. It took 11 minutes to get my order. The bagel was delicious, chewy, soft and tasty. The butter was barely visible and certainly not tastable The cappuccino was fine. I paid $14 which was fair The muffin crumbled into 50 pieces which is a product of over mixing and likely over baking. I'd come back for a bagel, not a muffin. The main issue i have with this bakery is that the staff isn't customer focused. They're laughing and having a great time when they should be taking and executing orders. Dunkin isn't the greatest but they do focus on customer service. Restaurant 101. Scratch could do much better It looks like a great place to work but not so great for customers. read more

THIS is THE BEST scone I have ever had. If you're someone from outside the northeast sick of paying $12,000 for a measly bite of a scone, this is the place for you. The scone I got was HUGE. It filled my stomach and soothed my soul. Literally, God bless this establishment. I got the cinnamon walnut scone. It was FANTASTIC. Crispety, crunchety on the outside. Pillowy, soft, and sugary on the inside. Just absolutely delicious. I will be back! Only thing I will say is they could cool it on the packaging. Many bags used for a small order. read more

I live in Monroe and scratch baking had be n recommended to me many times. We have NO good bakeries here. They're not far, but I was never included to drive down just for the occasional item. Well, I took a chance trying to grab a babka on Christmas Eve day, when I was visiting a friend. I went online to see the menu and was delighted to find: 1. They have online ordering!!! 2. They have a large and varied selection!! 3. They had Buche de Noel available!!! I got a coffee, breakfast sandwich, babka and Buche de Noel. Everything was INCREDIBLE. High quality ingredients, flavorful, beautifully decorated. Expensive? Yes. Worth every penny? YES. The babka and Buche de Noel rival what you'd find at the better Manhattan bakeries. Their buttercream is insanely good. Bless you, Scratch Bakers. Bless you. read more

I must say, I'm blessed that I live in the same town as the best bakery in the state of Connecticut. Not only is everything delicious at this bakery, but you will always find that Evan and his team are great at what they do and they are always looking to treat their customers with fantastic service. I've only picked up take away from here but it's delicious every single time. The pastries are amazing. Everything is made fresh and obviously, from scratch. There is only one downside of this fine establishment is that it is so busy and so crowded. The staff are extremely efficient and friendly and keep the line moving pretty quickly. I love everything about this place and highly recommend Scratch Bakery. read more

It's all great, food, service and ambiance! Best Caesar salad you can find! Also has very good gluten free chocolate cake!

Delicious food and friendly service! Ordering online delays your order a bit, plan accordingly!

Yay! The Apple-Cinnamon Babka is back! The breads are the star of the show at this bakery--Honey-Flax, Sourdough, Demi-Baguettes, Parker House Rolls, Brioche. You can't go wrong. I don't eat a lot of sweets so scan other reviews for those tips. Grab-and-go container of chicken salad is a great lunch item and of course the sandwiches on their bread are tasty. The shop is busy so it's worth it to download the Toast app and order in advance for pickup. Your items will be waiting in a cubby for pick up. Very convenient. No indoor seating. Tables outside when the weather is nice, or lots of places on Milford's Green and Harbor to enjoy your goodies. read more

We had an opportunity to visit yesterday (Monday) and the selection was incredibly limited, nothing better than a success story. I ordered a Ham and Cheese sandwich, it was substantial. Not particularly flavorful, however it was filling. As for the Cinnamon Knot, I have been assured by the owner Evan it was baked fresh, maybe just a little over baked. The server was pleasant and the atmosphere pleasant, I can see why it's a neighborhood favorite. read more

To the owner Evan Cassidy, not sure how a food place as good as Scratch Baking has been for the last fifteen years could ever hirer someone like Sal is what we have heard him called the last two times we were in your bake shop and will probably be our last time going till Sal is gone. This guy is gross; his voice alone is enough to turn anyone off. His hair and face look gross as well, not sure if he smells and we never want to get the close to him, is bad enough he is working with the public's food. I am sure if Lesli were still there Sal would not be, while standing in the forever lines waiting, we were not alone in our opinions of this man. We sure do not mine waiting for excellent baked goods and food just do not do not enjoy someone as ignorant and very INFANTILE acting as Sal. Evan between you and Kathy's cookies in Milford you both are the best bake shops, Scratch is closer to us and my family but not worth what we have experienced in the last couple of months.
