Was here yesterday for only the second time. I believe one of the measures of a great deli is their tuna and chicken salads. This time I was in the mood for tuna salad, and it didn't disappoint. It was everything I think tuna salad should be, so fresh and tasty (they use yellowfin tuna, which is a tastier fish than the typical albacore tuna you usually find in a deli or grocery store), and obviously a lot of thought and care was put into making it. If you're a fan of tuna salad, you will go crazy over Nardelli's version. Add a bag of chips and you'll be in heaven! read more

The last three visits to the shoppe ,today being one of them, was so disappointing. The bread was hard,in fact stale. I always get a large Italian combo ,but three strikes,I think it will be awhile before I return. read more

The $16 sub was all bread. A liitle ham and cheese and 2 tomatoes. Not coming back to Nardelli's.

Got the Italian sandwhich and it was fantastic. The quality and amount for the price is a great deal. Fresh, and great deli style to it. Bread was fantastic and the sandwhich was LOADED on meat/veggies. Would return if I lived nearby. read more

The Italian is amazing. Staff was extremely accommodating. We wanted to share a large and they confirmed we both wanted the same topping and also wrapped separately. Excellent meats and mozzarella. read more

Always loved Nardelli's, and for years have gone to the Wallingford or Meriden stores. Great food, no issues. The last three times, however, we went to the Milford location and have not had the same experiences. Was excited to try the Gobbler and also got a Cubano today, first time for both. My husband liked his Cubano, I didn't look at it. However, I was disappointed in both the flavor and presentation of my Gobbler sandwich. Here's what I ordered versus what I received. Won't do that again! read more

First time coming here as it's way out of the way from NY, but it's on the way home from IKEA new haven and let's just say the IKEAs in NY/NJ are a mess. I didn't get my needs fulfilled at IKEA but glad I could stop in at Nardelli's right before closing to grab dinner for the road. Ordered the Italian sub, its famous after all, with everything! 110% satisfying af! Definitely different from a NY Italian combo which is balsamic and oil based dressing. I wasn't missing it with the mayo and olives and tons of fresh veg. Also, I walked in 15 minutes before closing and was greeted warmly and served quickly. Great service! read more

Not the best I've had, but overall not terrible. Bread a little too hard for subs, cheese to meat ratio way off... dressings very bland. I'll definitely stick to my Jersey Subs. read more

We have been going to Nardelli's for many years originally in Waterbury original location. Then we didn't live near one for a while but have recently been visiting again - it has become our go to for subs over the last couple of years. We have had consistent service ( fast and friendly) across the various locations and also consistent quality. Some weeks, like this one, we visit twice. Everything always fresh and flavorful - our go to is the Italian combo! read more

Great business, very friendly and accommodating. Great food too! Although I'm not loving the change in cheesecake LOL. Used to get it all the time but it's not from the Cheesecake Factory anymore otherwise, it's a great place for sandwiches read more

I stopped in for a quick lunch and was greeted by a friendly staff behind the counter which had a large selection of choices that ranged from cold salads and sandwiches to hot meals made while you wait. They have the sandwich portions already made up in the counter ready to go into a sub sandwich or a wrap so based on your appetite, you will know how much you are getting. I spoke to the owner Joe who was working the check out and he said that if you call ahead they will have your order ready for you to pick up. He was really friendly and a joy to speak to. My turkey wrap was delicious and I will definitely return. read more

First time ever here last night, bad crazy week and needed a quick meal en route to next place. Walked in, was greeted and then pleasantly surprised at options. I ordered a plant based sandwich Italian deli sandwich to try. It was actually delicious and hit the spot like I never imagined it would. Now a small disclaimer..I've never had the actual real counterparts of the deli slices so can't compare taste/texture. All I know is that I was hungry, tried a new thing and devoured a pretty damn tasty sandwich. Can't wait to return and try the salads, and other plant options! read more

Another great stop @ Nardelli. I needed a shaved steak sub for later but was afraid it would get soggy. The counter guy offered to pack the parts in a couple containers so I could rebuild it later. His creativity and adaptability were really helpful and appreciated. At checkout, it was noticed that my hands were quite full. The gentleman offered to carry my Italian combo & shaved steak subs out to the car. Great service all around. And of course it tasted great ! Thanks for making my day tasty and easier. read more

Did curbside pick up after phone order - needed to use $10 Groupon... they were very accommodating during this covid pandemic Eggplant sub was good as were the sides- order was filled perfectly. Overall great experience read more

sad sad place i'm not sure what happened. maybe it's because they only hire kids & adults that obviously aren't capable of doing anything else in life. how do you really charge someone almost $20 for a sandwich that they make like shit and then you don't even give them the right sandwich. i've worked in Foodservice before making sandwiches. Your job is to double check peoples orders, but here they are just not competent or capable of doing that it seems. read more

Was walking by and decided to try this place, and I'm glad I did. Had a chicken and prosciutto with peppers n provolone, an Italian style sub because the shop appeared to be deli-like and I figured it would be good. I also tried one baked cohog on a half shell. The cohog or baked stuffed clam was ok, nothing special, but the bread on my two sandwiches was soft and delicious, The Italian I had left up to the preparer to season by purposely not mentioning any preference, I was curious and she didn't disappoint. That was a great sandwich. The chicken was very tasty as well. I'd say I enjoyed them both. This is definitely a place where picky deli patrons can be specific to their hearts desire. There is ample selection and the staff is very courteous and friendly. Professional. This is what Subway wishes they could ever be. No comparison. Good place, delicious sandwiches. read more

I'm surprised it took me so long to write this review, seeing how obsessed I am with this place. I go here pretty frequently during my lunch break and occasionally for dinner. Like I said, I'm obsessed. I always get wraps, and they are always incredible. Quality is something that's clearly very important to these people. And speaking of these people, they are the most friendly and welcoming staff you could ask for. And I mean everyone. You can't really say that too often. But literally everyone who works here is super nice. It's like a family in there. And the prices are very reasonable. I can't say a negative thing about this place. And if you see my other reviews, you'll see that's a rarity for me lol. Go here. And you'll enjoy. Promise. read more

Fantastic tasty grinders. A large selection of different grinders. I have tried and enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana, chicken salad and Italian grinder. Each one was delightful. The staff is friendly and helpful. The interior is clean. I highly recommend this place. read more

1st time to this location. Friendly staff as normal. I have to agree with some of the other reviews that mention how much is put into a grinder HERE, not as stuffed as other locations. Sad... Always getting my order somehow wrong with Door Dash - something is always missing. In this case there was a note inside the bag as they gave me an entirely different wrap when my order was marked to refund if not available - they never even asked me if it was okay. I like having some vegan options but this is nuts. And the plant based chicken they sent instead was stale - hard in places. read more

Billy and Tony invited us back to give them another chance. I had my husband join us this time and we took Tony's advice and hit the cold items only. My husband and I both had the chicken salad and it was excellent. We toasted the bread. My daughters both had vegetable sandwiches. Everything we had was fresh and well made and the sandwiches looked more like the pictures this time. We really appreciate the opportunity to try the product again and we would be back for the cold items. It does make it me really wish the hot items were ones that I could enjoy but until the heating method are improved I will not eat those. Again the chicken salad was excellent. read more

Thanks had the opportunity to visit the Nardelli's Grinder Shoppe and here is my review. I was expecting a phenomenal sandwich because I have heard so many great things about this deli. I got there and the line was long so I was excited to wait my turn. In the case they had so many great looking foods, until I didn't know what to try. After getting my sandwich, I wasn't impressed with the sellers at all, even shocked. I am sure I'm not going to go back to the place, but it's not to say they don't have really good food but to me it was just ok. read more

..Heard good things about 'original' Nardelli's ---My son and I (very hungry) chose a steak and cheese (with all the trimmings) and a 'spicy' chicken hero....both sandwiches were barely edible! Trimmings were ice cold and steak/cheese barely warm---meat was previously cooked and warmed briefly in micro--tasteless! Chicken was rubbery and also tasteless. Needless to say it was a most unsatisfying experience - the other local chain (headquartered in Milford) would offer a better sandwich at half the price!!! -----and to think we 'rang the bell' as well..... read more

Um?? Where are the ingredients??? I know there should be lettuce, tomato, veggies and HOT SAUCE. Yet....all I have is a breaded chicken breast with I think? A slice of eggplant??? I would have loved to try this sandwich with the ingredients listed. The chicken is good but this is not what I ordered...my friend however has been enjoying her sandwich.. witg ALL the ingredients....the whole time I have been typing.... Disappointing. .as I never go out for lunch and choose to bring my own daily. Oh well...live and learn. #sandwichesaresadwithnoingrediants read more

Don't let the older exterior fool you, this is a must for any sandwich lover. I got the BBQ chicken and it might be the best sandwich I ever had. Second best sandwich, the other half that I had for dinner. Their sandwiches are huge. Also, never thought I'd be talking about amazing potato salad, yet here we are. By far, the best I ever had. I believe it's family run. You can tell that everyone there takes pride in their food. read more

Second time coming (Italian combo and American combo ordered) and very pleased. Getting a sub with 'everything' (mayo, lettuce, tomato, mixed veggies, olives and HOT SAUCE) is the way to go. And a whole sub for $9 (not much more than 'the other guys') they are huge. Regularly finish a 'foot long' but struggle with a whole sub here. Friendly staff, good sandwiches. read more

Nardelli's Grinder Shoppe - American Combo with everything. People are complaining about how much is on these? I'm full after eating the first half! - Delis Near Me - Milford, Connecticut

Not how I remember Nardellis. 1 full size, 1 half.... $28 bucks. Order was a full size Chicken cutlet with Mozzarella bacon and hot Peppers. A Half sub with ham and capicola with extra provolone oil and vinegar. Chicken cutlet was soggy, the mozzarella was sliced so thin you could barely see it melted on the bread, the bacon was disgusting and they didn't put the hot peppers on. The half sandwich had two half slices of provolone, it was supposed to be extra provolone. The roll was so soaked with oil and vinegar it was hard to eat. $28 bucks and a 2 dollar tip. Sad to see it Nardellis. Sorry I cheated on you Gaetanos. Never again. read more

Visiting for work and... this place is great. It's a mini Italian deli (with everything that matters) and really friendly and helpful staff to help you make up your mind. I'm not sure how I've never been here before today. I was on the road (95) all day long, and was coming north around 2:00 PM without having eaten yet today. I happened to notice their billboard a few exits before, and as soon as I read "Italian Grinder," I was on a mission! What a terrific find! The place is convenient off of 95, workers all very friendly, and the food was great. The restaurant smelled amazing. I ordered the whole Italian Combo Grinder. It was a massive grinder, filled with delicious, fresh ingredients and loaded with cold cuts. I ate two meals worth of food with the grinder, which is very reasonably priced. I picked up a jar of their marinara sauce to make pasta this weekend, and had their own branded black cherry soda. This place definitely becomes a new regular food stop! read more

Liars, I can't stand liars. The first time I arrived, I "tried" to order the Italian Combo. I asked for the sharp provolone and was told they don't have it. I took a small block from the cooler and said, why not, you sell it? After a brief conversation with a manager, I was told not a problem. I was very nice during my long wait. I was charged for the sharp cheese, but it was not on the sub. It was too late to mention it then once I realized. I attempted a second try, the same blonde haired, young girl told me no, we don't offer sharp cheese. I showed her the sign that did say they offered it, and she once again told me no. I told her every other shop does, and she said this one did not. Again, I showed her the same sharp cheese that they sell, and she told me they don't offer it with zero explanation. I walked out. read more

Ive had mixed experiences with this particular Nardelli's. I'm a fan of the chain in general, and was pleased to see that one was opening up in this area. I've gone there maybe 6 or 7 times since it opened, moreso recently. The restaurant is always clean (at least as far as I can tell), and I've never had to wait very long for service. The staff is fine, and the owner is really pleasant the one or two times he helped me in line. Their chicken salad and stuffed portobello mushrooms are REALLY good. My daughter likes the chicken cutlet sandwich. The bread Is consistently fresh and tasty. The two times I have ordered chicken breast (grilled, not the breaded cutlet) however I have ended up being really disappointed. It was overcooked to the point of being inedible. Both times I got it in a wrap, maybe heating up the wrap also ended up further cooking the chicken. I have dietary limitations so while I'm sure a lot of other things on the menu are good, grilled chicken is my main staple when I go to any deli. While I was pleased that they came in different choices (balsamic, plain, I think chipotle), both times I tried I couldn't eat it. I ended up picking the rest of the innards of the wrap eating that. Also, and this might just be my luck, I've never seen them have any sort of chicken or beef based soup. It's always lobster this or chowder that. Initially I thought that it was because I was coming in later in the evening (my daughter and I made it a habit of coming in after her softball games so she could have a healthy victory meal) and that they were simply out, but I have come in at earlier times (around 5) and it was the same thing. Overall, I will continue to go there for my daughter but not for myself, at least until they stop overcooking their chicken. read more

Only options while visiting this area was the grocery store, take out, or delivery. Nardelli's was recommended by the hotel and right next door. So glad I tried it. And it's awesome that they have gluten free options. The salmon salad was so full of toppings and what I would call "real" lettuce for the salad. They were were very accommodating to special dietary needs and special requests. If I need to come back, I will definitely order from here again. Thank you for this option during these tough times. read more
