Was here yesterday for only the second time. I believe one of the measures of a great deli is their tuna and chicken salads. This time I was in the mood for tuna salad, and it didn't disappoint. It was everything I think tuna salad should be, so fresh and tasty (they use yellowfin tuna, which is a tastier fish than the typical albacore tuna you usually find in a deli or grocery store), and obviously a lot of thought and care was put into making it. First time coming here as it's way out of the way from NY, but it's on the way home from IKEA new haven and let's just say the IKEAs in NY/NJ are a mess. I didn't get my needs fulfilled at IKEA but glad I could stop in at Nardelli's right before closing to grab dinner for the road. Ordered the Italian sub, its famous after all, with everything! 110% satisfying af! Definitely different from a NY Italian combo which is balsamic and oil based dressing. Then we didn't live near one for a while but have recently been visiting again - it has become our go to for subs over the last couple of years. First time ever here last night, bad crazy week and needed a quick meal en route to next place. Walked in, was greeted and then pleasantly surprised at options. I ordered a plant based sandwich Italian deli sandwich to try. It was actually delicious and hit the spot like I never imagined it would. Now a small disclaimer..I've never had the actual real counterparts of the deli slices so can't compare taste/texture. I stopped in for a quick lunch and was greeted by a friendly staff behind the counter which had a large selection of choices that ranged from cold salads and sandwiches to hot meals made while you wait. They have the sandwich portions already made up in the counter ready to go into a sub sandwich or a wrap so based on your appetite, you will know how much you are getting. I spoke to the owner Joe who was working the check out and he said that if you call ahead they will have your order ready for you to pick up. He was really friendly and a joy to speak to. sad sad place i'm not sure what happened. maybe it's because they only hire kids & adults that obviously aren't capable of doing anything else in life. how do you really charge someone almost $20 for a sandwich that they make like shit and then you don't even give them the right sandwich. i've worked in Foodservice before making sandwiches. Another great stop @ Nardelli. I needed a shaved steak sub for later but was afraid it would get soggy. The counter guy offered to pack the parts in a couple containers so I could rebuild it later. His creativity and adaptability were really helpful and appreciated. At checkout, it was noticed that my hands were quite full. Always getting my order somehow wrong with Door Dash - something is always missing. In this case there was a note inside the bag as they gave me an entirely different wrap when my order was marked to refund if not available - they never even asked me if it was okay. Had a chicken and prosciutto with peppers n provolone, an Italian style sub because the shop appeared to be deli-like and I figured it would be good. I also tried one baked cohog on a half shell. The cohog or baked stuffed clam was ok, nothing special, but the bread on my two sandwiches was soft and delicious, The Italian I had left up to the preparer to season by purposely not mentioning any preference, I was curious and she didn't disappoint. That was a great sandwich. The chicken was very tasty as well. I'd say I enjoyed them both. This is definitely a place where picky deli patrons can be specific to their hearts desire. I'm surprised it took me so long to write this review, seeing how obsessed I am with this place. I go here pretty frequently during my lunch break and occasionally for dinner. Like I said, I'm obsessed. I always get wraps, and they are always incredible. Quality is something that's clearly very important to these people. And speaking of these people, they are the most friendly and welcoming staff you could ask for. And I mean everyone. You can't really say that too often. Billy and Tony invited us back to give them another chance. I had my husband join us this time and we took Tony's advice and hit the cold items only. My husband and I both had the chicken salad and it was excellent. We toasted the bread. My daughters both had vegetable sandwiches. Everything we had was fresh and well made and the sandwiches looked more like the pictures this time. We really appreciate the opportunity to try the product again and we would be back for the cold items. I got there and the line was long so I was excited to wait my turn. In the case they had so many great looking foods, until I didn't know what to try. After getting my sandwich, I wasn't impressed with the sellers at all, even shocked. ..Heard good things about 'original' Nardelli's ---My son and I (very hungry) chose a steak and cheese (with all the trimmings) and a 'spicy' chicken hero....both sandwiches were barely edible! Trimmings were ice cold and steak/cheese barely warm---meat was previously cooked and warmed briefly in micro--tasteless! Chicken was rubbery and also tasteless. Not how I remember Nardellis. 1 full size, 1 half.... $28 bucks. Order was a full size Chicken cutlet with Mozzarella bacon and hot Peppers. A Half sub with ham and capicola with extra provolone oil and vinegar. Chicken cutlet was soggy, the mozzarella was sliced so thin you could barely see it melted on the bread, the bacon was disgusting and they didn't put the hot peppers on. The half sandwich had two half slices of provolone, it was supposed to be extra provolone. The roll was so soaked with oil and vinegar it was hard to eat. $28 bucks and a 2 dollar tip. Sad to see it Nardellis. Sorry I cheated on you Gaetanos. Never again. read more

Visiting for work and... this place is great. It's a mini Italian deli (with everything that matters) and really friendly and helpful staff to help you make up your mind. I'm not sure how I've never been here before today. I was on the road (95) all day long, and was coming north around 2:00 PM without having eaten yet today. I happened to notice their billboard a few exits before, and as soon as I read "Italian Grinder," I was on a mission! What a terrific find! The place is convenient off of 95, workers all very friendly, and the food was great. The restaurant smelled amazing. I ordered the whole Italian Combo Grinder. It was a massive grinder, filled with delicious, fresh ingredients and loaded with cold cuts. I ate two meals worth of food with the grinder, which is very reasonably priced. I picked up a jar of their marinara sauce to make pasta this weekend, and had their own branded black cherry soda. This place definitely becomes a new regular food stop! read more

Only options while visiting this area was the grocery store, take out, or delivery. Nardelli's was recommended by the hotel and right next door. So glad I tried it. And it's awesome that they have gluten free options. The salmon salad was so full of toppings and what I would call "real" lettuce for the salad. They were were very accommodating to special dietary needs and special requests. If I need to come back, I will definitely order from here again. Liars, I can't stand liars. The first time I arrived, I "tried" to order the Italian Combo. I asked for the sharp provolone and was told they don't have it. I took a small block from the cooler and said, why not, you sell it? After a brief conversation with a manager, I was told not a problem. I was very nice during my long wait. I was charged for the sharp cheese, but it was not on the sub. It was too late to mention it then once I realized. I attempted a second try, the same blonde haired, young girl told me no, we don't offer sharp cheese. I showed her the sign that did say they offered it, and she once again told me no. I told her every other shop does, and she said this one did not. Again, I showed her the same sharp cheese that they sell, and she told me they don't offer it with zero explanation.
