Great family owned deli for lunch. Super friendly staff. Specials everyday. Very reasonably priced and food was delicious! ****Only open until 3:00 on Saturdays****

The DeNiro (fresh mozz, roasted red peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, balsamic + added ham)

Awesome Italian subs on sacali bread! I had the DeNiro (fresh mozz, roasted red peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, balsamic + added ham) and he had the Hot Italian Combo (sopressata, capicolla, prosciuttini, pepperoni, salami). Everything was super fresh and worth the stop for lunch, as most places right off 95 are generic fast food joints. Definitely bookmarking this place for future stops on our way to/from NYC and MA. -1 star for no bathroom. Pro tip: get a half, they are HUGE. (The half sub is a whole length of a paper pate)

Chicken Salad X Bacon X Honey Mustard

So I'm a big sucker for chicken salad, and I must admit this was the first time I had it with green bell pepper. Not only was the green pleasing to the eye, for a usually gray mash up, it also brought a nice fresh crisp to the sandwich. I like what they have done with the place. There are new wooden shelves kiddy cornered in the corner offering all the imports they have for sale. Great atmosphere of local workers, usually police officers, and exceptional service.

The biggest setback for us was the service. Our server wasn't very attentive and spent the entire time conversing with every other couple (and we were the only gay people there so it felt discriminatory dare we say?). There were also very very minor microaggressions we noticed but they were so micro, we didn't really feel as though we could say anything. The place is very cute though, it has a nice cutesie vibe. This place is clearly a local favorite as the small parking lot was full, but we lucked out as someone was pulling out as we arrived. The service was top notch! We were greeted by a friendly young woman who seated us right away in a 2 person booth. The place is your classic stainless steel exterior and the inside was packed with happy patrons. The people in the booth next to us said they rarely dine out but they frequent Georgie's for their food. We were served by 3 different young women who were super friendly and professional. Before we got our food I was thinking I would come back for the service alone. Now the food. I ordered Georgie's omelette with home fries. 5/5. Excellent omelette and though the home fries were just potatoes they were cooked with some crunchy bits that simply elevated them. Laura got the eggs Benedict and she loved it. 5/5. We also ordered the buckwheat pancakes with blueberries and bananas. These were the best pancakes I've ever eaten 5/5! On top of it they serve organic food and locally sourced ingredients. The diversity of their staff was another added feature. This place is special!!! Laura and I agreed that it was the best meal we ate during our New Haven weekend. I would go on a 1.5 hour road trip for this place. Top notch!

Service [5/5]: There was a lot of college kids in there and they're honestly running it well. Fast and friendly service is always great I was in there for no longer than 30 minutes. Loved it. Overall I'd recommend! Theres no parking since it's downtown so you'll have to hope you can find street parking or park your car somewhere else and walk like I did. It was actually our first time eating here despite them being open for I believe close to 10 years now. I love how they continue to update their specials on a weekly basis, which to me shows that the chef and the kitchen are not complacent and continue to try to keep things innovative despite being a long-established restaurant. I do think that the business would benefit greatly from a renovation or relocation to a newer building. The interior and exterior could use some TLC, and it just seems like the use of space and flow of the restaurant could be more optimal. While service was courteous and fast, the business would definitely benefit from an overall additional focus on the front-of-house customer experience and ambiance. For example, having a sign that points to the dining room asking for customers to seat themselves feels too impersonal, and again this is where the restaurant's layout and extra space works against them. The chef's team clearly takes immense pride in the presentation of their food. Extending that same focus to the restaurant's ambience and personal warmth would truly elevate them to another level. All that being said, we're looking forward to exploring more of their menu and offerings in the future!
