This is the closest cafe to the train station; they have wifi and good seating, so for me it's the ideal place to hang out before or after a train trip. Plenty of power outlets, and the music isn't super loud. Friendly staff who go out of their way to give customers the best experience possible. The espresso coffees are Starbucks style, if you know what I mean. Very bitter, and the milk foam is on top without being integrated into the crema. Not the best espresso in New Haven. We ended up getting Egg, Cheese, Bacon, Avocado on an Everything Bagel and Belgian Waffles with Fruit and Cream along plain hot coffee. The food was amazing - probably one of the best waffles and egg sandwiches I have had in a while. The waffles had alot of fruit on them and was not overwhelmingly sweet. The bagel on the egg sandwich was soft and the combination of eggs/bacon/avocado were great! The coffee was pretty standard but they were very nice about brewing fresh pot of coffee for us. Stopped by for a coffee after church. The restaurant was buzzing with customers and the staff were friendly. I wanted to give this shop a 2nd chance. The coffee was very good. We found a nice table snd had a great chat. The owner remembered me and came over to check on us. I really respect that. I think this spot will become one of my New Haven favorites. I love a local shop that takes pride in what they do. They also embrace the people and not just count how many coffees are sold. There's good parking and it is easy to walk to while downtown. I haven't been to Cedarhurst in years, when my then toddler daughter was up very early and liked to go out to breakfast! Today I went for lunch with a friend and was reminded how much I love the place. The service is top-notch. Everyone is friendly and accommodating. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a big wooden tree inside, up to the ceiling. It is clean, warm, and inviting. Bonus: I often find street parking on this section of Crown Street. I had the avocado toast today and it was delicious, beautifully seasoned, and AFFORDABLE. I don't say that much any more. We will be coming back! read more

Cost was reasonable, average below $10pp. A good variety to select from their menu (mainly breakfast or lunch offerings) including fresh baked muffins, oatmeal, fruit or sandwiches. My choice was a standard breakfast sandwich including melted cheese plus perfect over-medium (cooked thru, no runny yolk) egg on 8-grain toast; then I chose to add extras of avocado, bacon and 2nd egg just as I liked (for extra charge); I enjoyed my savory 'custom' morning breakfast sandwich! Basic sandwich cost ~$5+extras. Family ordered the Avocado and Egg toast, simple and excellent! Slices of Avocado perfectly ripe with 'over' egg cooked your way served on toasted 8-grain. They also offer several fresh squeezed juices; I chose Orange which was sweet and not too pulpy. Coffee was freshly brewed, and you can have light, medium or dark roast - all were smooth and had FREE refills. Solid place to get some work done. There's a printer that you can pay to use and outlets/tables/WiFi. $12 for an avocado toast (with egg cooked to your style!) and a large iced americano. Not a bad deal. Everything here is made to order so just be patient. The kitchen staff brings the food to your table and you just have to clean after yourself. The inside is very nicely decorated- a "green" feel to it: tree-like vibe. Pet friendly! And I also thought it was cute that they had yoga ball chairs!!! We found this place and have been getting breakfast here daily. It was decent, not amazing. But good enough. Today will be the last day we order here. Ordered the same thing we have been ordering (egg sandwiches) which comes with cheese, besides other things like waffles, açaí bowls, etc. Both our sandwiches didn't come with cheese and therefore are very dry and inedible. We called about it and all they could do is give us a couple dollars refund on two sandwiches that cost $16 and will be thrown out. Our plan was to keep eating breakfast here going forward and have been spending about $40-$50 each morning, but after seeing the lack of customers service from this place we won't be ordering anymore and advise people to avoid as well. I ordered to go from this location before a long drive. I got an iced cold brew coffee with almond milk which was perfectly brewed. It didn't taste watered down like most places. It was very clean and refreshing when going inside. Many people working/studying. The workers were friendly and helpful. I got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich on 8 grain bread. It stayed warm for almost 45 minutes I couldn't believe if. I had a drive ahead of me and the second half was still warm when I ate it. The cheese pull was incredible I wish I had captured it.
