I stopped by Tous Les Jours in Downtown New Haven and ended up falling in love with their Magic mocha cream bread. It was incredibly soft and lightly sweet and perfect for a cup of coffee. They offer a variety of different baked goods like macaroons, cakes and pastries. It's easy to find something new every visit. The ambiance was very pleasant and inviting. Service was great. Definitely a good place to enjoy some coffee.

Tous Les Jour is a bakery/cafe that offers French pastries, cakes, macaroons, coffees and other items. My son especially loves their Milk Cream Bread. The Custard Bun is also especially delicious; all of their pastries are delicious. I simply couldn't decide which is the best. They recommend consumption within the day if possible. Why wait?! On my latest visit, I had their Mocha Latte. Starting with a whiff already has me swooning. I've not had a chance to really enjoy the environment, it is usually busy when I do have the time to, or if I don't, I take things to go. The bakery is pretty much self-serve. Take a tray and line it with wax paper and grab a pair of tongs. Each item is labeled and the price is indicated. Cool bakery items are individually wrapped while hot items are kept in a warmer. All are fresh daily because they sell out! I know this because I've come late in the day where they have and most often I've had to call to reserve a few items I want to pick up. Lol. The prices are relatively decent and the cafe is always clean. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. The bathroom also requires a code which you can find from your receipt. I wish they had one closer to home!

Plentiful options of breads and cakes at this French-Asian inspired bakery - fresh and not too sweet! It was hard not to want to try everything. The cream donut was soft, puffy and the filling was smooth and creamy. The inside of the store was bright, airy and clean. Friendly service and there is seating inside.

I've been wanting to try this place for some time, but they're not on my radar because I rarely find myself downtown. Fortunately, I had business at a neighboring establishment so I decided to pop in. I was immediately impressed and equally taken aback by all of the selections that were available. Pastries, breads, Macarons, crafted beverages, etc.. There were so many selections. It was extremely clean in there, open and inviting. Service was friendly and fast as well. I tend to gravitate towards strawberries, so I opted for a slice of strawberry cake and a croissant with a very light whipped buttercream and freshly sliced strawberries. I took my items to go. I had an errand before heading home. But once I was home I decided to try the croissant. Of course they kept it in the refrigerator because of the fruit and the whipped cream. But that did not compromise the soft delicate texture of the croissant. The whipped cream again was very light, not overbearing at all, and the strawberries added a nice tart taste and texture. The slice of strawberry cake was delicious. Very natural. The strawberry did not taste artificial, nor was it too sweet. If you find yourself in the area, I would definitely recommend popping in for coffee, tea, and a pastry. They have seating available. Very lounge style. I went on a Tuesday afternoon, and you could easily bring your laptop or a book in to read. My sister loves this place as well. She bought several different types of bread and the family loved all of it.

Nice quick little spot to stop by before heading to the station. They have some great breads and affordable prices for those looking to stop for a quick breakfast or snack. Lots of seating if you want to just chill and enjoy a cup of coffee

Get place to pick up pastries. If you are in a rush, this is also a good place to stop by. There is a lot of street parking near by. They have really cute cakes as well.

Found this place on our way through New Haven on a road trip. After driving all day, we were excited for a snack. We like hot tea in the evening and saw they had a selection. The guy at the register was helpful and we picked out macrons to enjoy. Reason for lower stars-- It was 30 minutes before closing so we figured we could eat 2 cookies and finish our tea in that time without disturbing the staff. A young man came and told us to get up and leave the restaurant. He said we were not allowed to sit and eat our food close to closing time. I politely told him "It's 2 cookies, we won't make any mess and we will be out in 10 minutes. " He said "No exceptions, you have to leave." I have never heard of a restaurant that kicks people out 20 minutes before they close. We didn't know the area so we tried to walk to the park down the street to finish our cookies and tea. It was full of homeless people and a woman stopped us and told us it's not safe at night to be there. The cops were arresting people on the other side of the street. We ended up having to go sit and finish our treats in our car. Pretty disappointing they couldn't let us sit after spending $30. Some of the macrons were good. The tea was nice. Close at 8 pm or hire new staff that knows how to treat customers. Went back in the next morning because we were passing by and told the manager (before writing this review). She looked at me like I was speaking a gibberish and defended the employee "well, they were closing..." So now I know why the staff is ignorant. They have no management. What kind of business kicks people out 20-30 mins before close and makes them proceed to a potentially dangerous environment to finish the food they paid for? No one told us BEFORE we ordered. Literally kicked us to the curb. Unacceptable.

"She's fresh, exciting She's so exciting to me She's so inviting to me, yeah" (Kool and the Gang) We grabbed a light lunch at Tous Les Jours today and split a simple ultra-fresh ham and cheese sandwich ($7.50). Zero complaints at all - the bread seemed as though it was just baked a few hours ago, the lettuce and tomato were as fresh as could be, and the portion of meat and cheese were pretty impressive. Even the honey mustard was delicious. Tous Les Jours is quite a sweet place, with a tempting lineup of breads, croissants, cakes, cookies, sweet pastries with fruits and chocolate, savory pastries with cheese, sausage or hot dogs, hot and cold sandwiches and a ton more. You walk down the line "Subway" style and use a pair of tongs and a tray to select what you want. The store was neat, clean, and comfortable, and the servers were all very pleasant and helpful. All in all, it's a very cool bakery, if I worked in downtown New Haven, I'd be a regular. PRO TIP Their restrooms are locked with a keypad. The code to unlock and gain entry is printed on the bottom of your receipt.

Tous Les Jours is an international bakery with Asian and French influences, dozens of locations in the US and one in particular in New Haven, CT. I've been multiple times. They have tasty croissants, cakes and macarons. As you walk in, you can get a tray and tongs. You then make your way through a series of clear cases with treats and grab what you want. One of my favorite things is the garlicky pigs in a blanket type "sausage blocks". So tasty. There's also an area where employees will help with the desserts of your choices. Think individual servings of cake and macarons. Macarons are a definite highlight. 4.5 Stars

If you want to imagine a dessert heaven, tous los jour comes super close to that with a bonus of some delicious savoury treats and drinks as well. You begin with a tray and tongs, and on your way to the counter you pick up all the delicious treats you want to get. We had such a hard time choosing between the soft and delectable milk bread, the croissant with stuffed cream and strawberries and some savoury tomato olive bread. This place has everything imaginable. We also got a drink which was a real star. We asked the staff for their recommendation for the drink and chose the refreshing strawberry drink which just made everything better. They have some amazing mugs and cups in the end which are so tempting to buy. I think I am getting one of those next time! Foodieveggie recommended

This place is so cute and I love all their desserts and pastries! Such a good little bakery to go to! A lot of people study there too, which makes it a cute little hangout spot in New Haven!

Tous Les Jour is one of my favorite bakery chains and I first discovered the franchise in Michigan. I've been to several locations in Michigan and one location in Philadelphia but this Downtown New Haven location is unfortunately my least favorite. I've been to this location a few times now and the majority of the time the pastries taste like they've been sitting out for some time and not that fresh. At other locations if you stop by early enough you can catch them pulling items out of oven and steaming hot, however, no matter what time I show up to this location the desserts always taste the same and the experience feels a bit underwhelming. The selection here is also considerably limited compared to other Tous Les Jour locations. I really love the red bean donut and plain twist donuts here so I'll probably continue to go to this location if I don't find another one near Downtown New Haven. If you're not familiar with Tous Les Jour then this place is a solid cafe with free wifi, ample seating and friendly staff. It's usually quiet which also makes it a perfect place to get work done. The desserts, however, are nothing too special.

Was familiar with this place as my family would send us treats from their location in Alabama. Shantay took care of me. She was very sweet, helpful and kind. I appreciate that. I ordered a honey lavender matcha latte drink. It was delicious!!! I would definitely order another one!
