The counter. Doesn't that bread look good?

Great bakery, but NOT a great place to eat in. Their Whole-grain croissant was a first for me, and to my surprise I loved it. The quiche and latte were also excellent. We didn't buy bread (boules) but they looked stupendous. BUT- there's a but. The seating is a set of elegant circular walnut perches, facing narrow banquettes against the wall. It's all very pretty, but the stools have no backs and the banquette seating has uncomfortable (but elegant) little pillows. And there are elegant little low tables. A pleasant casual place to wait for your croissant. Not a good place to eat it! So you've been warned:-)

I'm finally relieved to find a place that sells cronuts! Back in 2015, Dunkin' had a limited-time croissant donut, and when it was discontinued, I was a little sad and couldn't find a nearby shop that sold anything similar. After some research and word of mouth, I discovered G Cafe, which offers cronuts. A friend and I drove 45 minutes to give it a try. The experience itself was brief, more of an in-and-out situation. The cafe is a small shop with limited seating, and the tight space made it feel a bit cramped. Finding parking was also a challenge, as there wasn't any nearby. We ended up walking two blocks, which made me wish there was better access or closer parking options. That said, I was satisfied to finally reunite with my love for cronuts and enjoyed my purchase today. While I would recommend adding some improvements--like expanding seating to allow more guests to dine in comfortably--I'm excited to come back and try some of their other food options.

While in town, we love going to cafes for a breakfast. This wasn't a far walk from where we were staying. It's a small cafe, cozy, hopefully you can find a spot to sit. Their coffee and chai were quite good. Their small items in the pastry case all look good. Small quiches/tartines were tasty on the savory side, also their sweet pasty items were equally as good. Definitely a tough time choosing so we just went with what looked good. (See photo). Be sure to listen up and don't forget what you ordered because they will call your drink and food order out loud for you to pick up. We enjoyed our first visit, so we came back again the next morning. Service is pleasant, chill vibes, prices seem fine, overall would come back again next time. If you need to use the restroom, ask for the key attached to the kitchen utensil.

While walking around Chapel Street in New Haven we noticed G Cafe Bakery. I know I've heard about the quality of their baked goods from plenty of my Yelp friends. There are a few locations of G Cafe, this one is pretty small. There are a few seating options, but most people took their orders to go. They have some very tasty breads, pies, cookies, croissants, essentially anything that's a baked good. We selected the veggie quiche. This was a personal size quiche, that they heated for us. There were mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach all in a crispy, flaky crust. I could taste the freshness of the mushrooms and the tomatoes. It was pretty tasty, if I lived in the area, I could see my self going for one of these regularly. The tables hadn't been cleaned, there were crumbs on all of them, this is the only reason I'm not giving five stars. If you're in New Haven check out G Cafe, for a fresh baked good.

I absolutely ADORE G Cafe! I've been to all of their New Haven locations and the vibes are always amazing! My favorite thing to order at the Chapel St location is the chocolate chip banana bread. I always get it warmed up which creates a warm crunchy crust on top and goey chocolate pieces in every bite. So rich annd yummy!! Only downside to this location is that it's a little small and there isn't a ton of seating. Can't wait to go back!

The powdered sugar does nothing for the cake but the chocolate flavor is divine.

My friend was craving her cold brew from G Cafe and of course I had to accompany her. She loves the way it is made at the Orange Street G Café and was very disappointed to learn that it wasn't the same in their newest location. I was only going in to look at their usual magnificent display but as soon as I entered the cozy cafe, the chocolate flourless cake caught my eye across the room and it was love at first sight. The cake was everything and more than you can imagine. It was rich, chocolatey, melt in your mouth, deliciousness that you can't stop eating until it is all gone. At least one of us left very happy! I hope management will consider making all the G café bakery locations as consistently wonderful as the one in Branford! It would also be greatly appreciated if you would make more cranberry walnut bread as you are always out when we get there.

There's no truth to the rumor that I moved to New Haven, although my City Loyalty Card has many recent hole punches. I'm starting to know things. Like, there's not just a G Cafe Bakery on Orange Street. There's one on Chapel that I passed on my way from House of Naan to Old Heidelberg. We all know I didn't just walk by. I provided more detail about G in my review of the Orange Street G. They have things like pastries, great artisan bread, desserts and coffee. During my visit to Chapel Street, I had fun joking around with the afternoon crew. I told them I don't love raisins in carrot cake! Get this -- they GUARANTEED that the raisins in their carrot cake would not be "too raisiny". Nailed it. It was good carrot cake. The chocolate brownies and croissants were good too. Service was great and fun. Don't go to D, E or F. Get you bread and desserts at G.

Great service, ice tea (black) was perfect, cute little stools to sit in wonderfully refreshing air conditioned spaces. The cronuts are amazing. Probably insane calories but still amazing.

So happy they opened another G Cafe Bakery! This place has a slightly different vibe and aesthetic than the G Cafe Bakery on Orange street, and I'm a big fan. This place used to be JoJo's but is now a super cute cafe with bread, coffee, tea, and pastries. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the shop has a great vibe for one on one meetings, getting some work done, or people watching. They're still relatively new so they didn't have a drink menu up when I went in, but their rose tea is great, and my pastry was delicious.

    Da bomb!

Da BOMB! This place is a hidden gem. We were staying at The Study next door and fell upon this bakery for brunch. The baked goods are not to be missed! Blueberry bomb and salted pretzel are the best I have had. Do yourself a favor and get a dozen!!!

I went here for the first time on Saturday. This place had a great variety of different treats with…read moretrays and tounges at the entrance to grab and bring to the counter to purchase. There were packaged items, hot items and cold items as well. I ordered a honey lavender macchiato and it was absolutely delicious. They took my order and then called me when it was ready. It was a little bit loud in there so I didn't head her call my name but it was still hot when I went and checked to see if she called me. That was not her fault. I could have stayed closer. You need a code for the restroom and there is only one single stall. The code is on the bottom of your receipt. I really like that each thing lists ingredients and calories. I love when places do that!

Most chairs were up on tables, but a few tables had chairs down and people sat at chairs in the front. When we went up to the register, my friend got excited because they were playing a song she really liked. The employee told her to "calm down" multiple times in a very rude tone. We bought a piece of cake, it was a bit expensive for a small slice ($7.75) but we noticed a student discount with proof of Student ID. One of my friends had her student ID on her so she showed it, my friends also got excited about the discount and we were told to "calm down" again. Then another employee told us that the discount didn't apply to cake or macarons?? Weird. Seems convenient, since those were the only things left in the case. Anyway, we bought the cake at full price, and my friend went to find forks for the group. She asked one of the employees behind the counter and he very rudely said, "Have you tried looking behind you?" So rude. I asked for a plate to make it easier for us to split the cake slice, and the first employee told me they were closed for eating. No mention of that or signs about it before we purchased. We had to leave with our cake and ended up eating it outside on the street. I'm not happy with this place, it looked so cute at first but honestly not even worth the trouble or the money.
