Stopped in on a day of bike riding for a great iced coffee in a great location in Wooster Square. Kaiydens not only has great coffee but other drinks and pastries for a quick bite on the go. I visit New Haven every summer so this is a definite stop along the way. read more

I really wanted to like this spot because it's in a great location right in Wooster Square, but unfortunately my experience wasn't great. Inside the shop felt very dirty. It had a musty smell, and I noticed duct tape holding parts of the floor together. It's also a pretty small space with limited seating (which is not a bad thing, just a general observation.) People were sitting inside doing work on laptops and the staff seemed nice enough. They offer a lot of fun seasonal drinks on their menu. As for my drink, it was just not good, especially for the expensive price they charge. It also barely had any ice in it and took a while to make. The plastic cup and lid felt very flimsy. Respectfully, I would not go here again. Overall I think this place has potential given the location, but the cleanliness and drink taste just weren't what I was hoping for. read more

The type of place where you walk in and immediately met with the nicest smile from the staff that instantly lifts your mood. You could tell the people working there genuinely enjoy working there. They had house made syrups which was so cool! You don't ever see that anymore and the flavors? So unique! I got the saffron latte and wow, saffron is a hard taste to get right but mostly the aroma is so comforting, I was so excited to try it and wasn't disappointed. This place was a gem to find. It's a sweet little cute shop. After enjoying some pizza we were looking for some tea and coffee. Barista Betty took care of us. She was sweet, kind and very knowledgeable about the teas I was interested in. After a nice conversation with Betty I chose VANILLA ROOIBOS -Rooibos (S. Greeted by a very friendly barista upon entry. They have a broad beverage menu, but I stuck to my traditional favorite. Large hot coffee with cream, caramel and vanilla flavor added. Very delicious. Cute quaint establishment. Books available for reading and for exchange along with a couple of board games. A stones throw away from Wooster Square, and if I had more time, I would have just taken a stroll in the park. They had light bites as well. Always a good experience but on this particular day i noticed egg sandwiches in the pastry case. Got one to go and didn't even realize the weight of the sandwich until I took it out of the bag and realeased the Kraken from its wrapping. This sandwich is huge!! It will easily get even the biggest eater through the morning and to dinner. It's probably even better warmed up. Highly recommended before and will continue to recommend this little shop. People were crowding around the entrance and whole indoor area just chatting instead of ordering and clearing the way. Kind of annoying. It's awesome having this spot in a part of New Haven that's more residential. That being said, on a weekday late morning, it took an ungodly amount of time to get two coffees. We had to snag macarons to hold us over. I suppose that's not a terrible problem to have. The team was apologetic and yet managed some orders in what seemed to be out of order. This is a cozy local spot with a concise menu and fresh, locally sourced coffee beans from Newington's Saccuzzo Coffee Co in the Hartford area. The drip coffee options were either a light/medium roast from Ethiopia or a dark roast from Costa Rica. I wanted to try the Costa Rican beans but was unsure if the brewed dark roast would be bitter/harsh, and the barista assured me that as a fellow consumer of mostly light/medium roast coffee, she enjoyed their dark roast. I am pleased to confirm that it is a smooth cup of coffee with decent complexity! I picked up on some notes of plum and berry acidity amidst the bold yet balanced flavors present. Service and ambiance: 3 stars, average or slightly below average. The interior is a bit rough, maybe because workers are understaffed. Pastries are not presented attractively, milk/sugar counter is a bit dirty, etc. Interior could be cute. They do have water available which is nice. Location: 3 stars. Convenient to downtown, which is an amazing area to walk around, but Chapel Street has no bike lanes and can be a little chaotic with speeding. So not as pleasant to sit outside here as it could be. Price/value is in line with other places around the city but value is lower because the coffee isn't quite up to par with what you can get at the top places around New Haven. 2.5 stars. Overall it's a good addition to the neighborhood- more of an amenity for the surrounding area which doesn't have as many amenities as some of the other neighborhoods of New Haven; so I'm glad they are providing that as a service. The shop is a pleasant little place, but if weather is good, take your coffee or tea outside to admire the handsome Wooster Square houses or sit in one of the nearby parks. Something out-of-towners staying at AirBnBs nearby should know is that New Haven is secretly a hub of pastry excellence, so the basic New Haven almond croissant or cinnamon roll is plenty fine. My family and I wanted to stop because we could smell the coffee down the street. it was a warm day and we were welcome by a nice cool atmosphere when we entered. they had a variety of treats and hot as well as cold drinks that we were curious to try as well as some to go flower tees. they also advertised that they would cater to any puppy friends as they had milk bones for dogs. I tried the hibiscus latte iced and it had a nice bold flavor with a floral note. they offered it made with whole milk and when it came out, it was too toned with purple on the bottom and brown on the top which he offered to mix for me. my daughter ordered the caramel maple iced latte and it tasted like a sweet milk, which is good for anyone who has a sweet tooth. my son ordered a vanilla iced coffee and said it was better than others that he had tried elsewhere. He also ordered their cheese danish which my kids both enjoy tremendously. it is a family restaurant and they seemed pleased to make you happy. I ordered one of their flower teas that is a powdered mix in to try at home. That was called blue ginger Matcha tea. we definitely will be returning as it was a nice distraction from any stress we were feeling in our day!!!! read more
