The staff was very kind and helpful as this was my first visit. You order at the bar and they bring the food right to your table. The waffles themselves were whole wheat and very filling. The cardamom latte was strong, I would opt for cardamom chai next time. It was fun to try something new. I wish I had bought a few pastries to take home, their display case is very tempting. I walked in just thinking I would have a cup of coffee and something to snack on. What I got was a remarkable experience. I need to come back! I was greeted warmly and when I was trying to decide what to have helped with genuine interest. When I got my choice, the coffee cake, it was served warmed and with whip cream - surprised and delighted. The spot's decor was as cute as advertised and the service was friendly. My girlfriend got the matcha latte and it was decent. Not bad, but not extraordinary. I ordered a Turkish Coffee w/ Baklava. Both were average. They were having some trouble with the machine so the coffee took a while to come out. It wasn't very hot when it came out and it had an odd floral taste to it. I didn't hate it, but I would've preferred to not have it. We also got a slice of cappuccino cake and pistachio ice cream. Both were pretty good. The experience was ok, but I think the aesthetic is a bigger draw than any of the food/drink offerings. read more

This place reminds me of the stories "1001 Arabian Nights." The place is decorated so gorgeously that it can be a prime spot for a photoshoot. The decor, the furniture, the art, the settings transport you to the Middle East, such is the vibe. There are plenty of desserts to choose from, cakes, scones, macarons all with an Arabian touch. Plenty of seating catered to both groups and individuals as they have booths on one side, tables along with it and then the sofas in the main area. I have found the service to be always exceptional. I came with a large group and the people working were very accommodating, and they had some large booths that could seat us. We ordered at the cash register after looking over the brunch menu a bit. I settled on a salmon dish and a matcha without any syrups. They were unfortunately out of the pistachios for a croissant by 10:00 am. The staff was nice enough to bring all our dishes to our tables for us! I didn't realize the matcha latte at its base was unsweetened, so next time I'd definitely add a flavored syrup. The salmon was fine overall, I needed a touch more salt but there was generous helping of avocado and salmon which I loved. Overall really great place to try! read more

Pistachio Cafe is such a vibe! The cafe wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon and had lots of families, young folks working on their computers, and couples catching up. I liked their extensive bakery display and large seating area. The barista was also extremely helpful when I wasn't sure what to order. I ended up with an iced pistachio latte with light ice. When I got my drink, it found it was too sweet. I brought it back up to the counter, and the other barista was so kind. She gave me some more ice and pistachio milk to help offset the sweetness. I'd love to love this place. Adorable decor and a great assortment of beautiful pastries and coffee drinks. Unfortunately though they're pretty shamelessly price gougy, so the value is just not there. None of the prices are listed anywhere on their menu, which is a bad sign to start. Sure enough, the pecan bar I ordered was $8 for very normal size and quality. (Actually $9 with tax, which remarkably isn't included). After charging 1.5-2x all other coffee shops in the area, they won't even let you stay a while. Wifi is set up to boot you after an hour. Had I known this, I would have said no thanks to the $9 pastry. There are many great coffee shops in the area that also offer good product and ambiance, but for much better value. read more

"You're the one, I've been searching for Like a special treat, in a candy store All the fudge and chocolate chips Pistachio and all that sugar" (The Jackson 5) Three of us had lunch here yesterday and we found it a bit confusing to find. Their street address is 1245 Chapel Street, but as walked down Chapel we couldn't find it! We had to turn the corner (onto Dwight Street?) to find the front door. Maybe there was a back way in that we missed, but I don't think there was. But having found it, I quickly realized it's been quite a long time since I've been as impressed with a restaurant's décor and design as I was when I walked into the Pistachio Café. Plants, hotel lobby furniture, ornate coffered ceilings, flowers, peacock inspired artwork, and exotic Middle Eastern design will wow you as soon as you pass their threshold. And I haven't even mentioned their jaw-droppingly beautiful pastry showcases. You order at the counter and your meal is brought to your table. We went with a Smoked Turkey Croissant, a Smoked Salmon Tartine, and a Turkey Pesto Panini. The croissant ($16.95) and Tartine ($17.95) were served with a side salad and the panini ($17.50) was served with fries. My lunch was an Orange Blossom Latte ($5.95) and the Tartine. The espresso-based latte was made with orange blossom water, which I learned was a common ingredient in Middle Eastern cooking. The latte was garnished with a sprinkle of flowers, and the drink had a distinctive flowery fragrance. It was quite unusual but very satisfying. When we were doing some reconnaissance on the Pistachio menu, I was stumped by the word "Tartine". I fired up the old Google Machine and learned it's basically an open-faced sandwich. Pistachio features eight different Tartines with smoked salmon, tahini, olives, dates & honey, figs, roasted peppers, avocado, and jam with pistachios. I could not have been happier with my Smoked Salmon Tartine. It included a big slice of baguette, topped with cream cheese, Smoked Salmon , Avocado, and black and white sesame seeds. There must have been an entire ripe sliced avocado hiding underneath a big blanket of delicious sliced smoked salmon. It was totally worth the ($17.95). The side salad of greens, red onions, cherry tomatoes, and feta cheese was refreshing and a welcome addition to my lunch. And on the way out, we couldn't resist the gorgeous green pistachio cake and picked up a pricey $11 slice. It was so big that when we split it at home after dinner, each half was a big portion. The layered sponge cake came with a wonderful filling and frosting. When I consider the décor, service, food, beverages, and pastries -well this was an easy Five Star kind of a place. read more

My waitress was Camilla and she was phenomenal, super sweet! Brunch was great, although it can be a bit pricey. My favorite is the Smoked Salmon Tartine. I've gotten this about 3 times now! I wasn't amazed by their paninis and wouldn't get it again. They are open late and also have a bunch of desserts to choose from. I came a separate time just for desserts and total ended up being around ~$50 for the below dessert items. I wasn't a fan if their tarts. This was my first time visiting this cafe and I'm soooo satisfied! I had the best customer service from the Colombian lady named Jarlenys, omg she's so nice and didn't stop smiling the whole time. You can tell she's a hard worker and truly cares about customers. The inside is so pretty, with beautiful decorations and so many details. I even saw Arabic words on the wall, and I looooved it! Came here on a Sunday early afternoon with my family. Thankfully there wasn't a wait so we were seated right away. The decor inside is super cute, it's giving a fancy tea party vibe. Love that. We were a bit confused on the set up bc we were seated at our table by a server but no one came to take our order. After a while we asked if there were servers and that's when we were told that they recently stopped table service and customers must order and pay at the desk then the food is brought to them. Not a fan of this setup, I prefer table service when seated, but no big deal. We ordered the rose waffles, the Belgian waffles with a side of scrambled eggs, and my mom got the mushroom and cheese omelette and added red peppers and onions. She also ordered a pistachio latte. We all enjoyed our food! I particularly liked my rose waffles, very unique and lots of flavor. The omelette especially was good, very well-seasoned and the eggs were cooked well. Unfortunately we cannot say we enjoyed the pistachio latte, my mom did not like it at all. I tasted it and I'd have to agree. The coffee was exceptionally bitter and it lacked any discernible pistachio taste. We asked for a refund and the server happily obliged. She was very sweet. A few notables: -When we placed our order, I asked if real maple syrup is served with the waffles. The server said yes absolutely. But maple syrup is not what was served, it was very clearly the fake stuff. The server did mention she was brand new (only 4 days in) so I chalked it up to her just not knowing rather than her intentionally being misleading, but I do wish she simply would've said "I'm not sure let me check" instead of assuring me it was real syrup. I have a pet peeve when breakfast places, especially at a certain price point, do not serve real syrup. -When we ordered the Belgian waffles, I asked for the strawberries on the side. They did put them on the side, however the waffles themselves were drizzled with a strawberry syrup. It would've been nice to be informed of this when I said strawberries on the side bc what if I were allergic to strawberries or just didn't like them (hence asking for them on the side). None of these are major issues, just something for management to note should they see this. I would def still return, just not in a rush to do so. read more

Pistachio Cafe is a beautifully decorated cafe that does coffee really well. There are lots of interesting coffee options and they offer several vegan milks, including pistachio milk. Everything else was disappointing. We first went in on Monday evening around six, they close at 8:30. We were looking at the bakery in the large case, the pistachio cake looked dry, as did several other items. We couldn't get the attention of the person behind the counter who appeared to be putting things away and then noticed a sign that they were closing at 6:30. That's okay, emergencies happen. We went back the next day for lunch and sat outside. The waitress told us they were out of soup, quiche, and a couple of other things. We asked about vegan items on the menu and she wasn't especially helpful. I ordered the pistachio latte and their signature salad, and planned on getting a dessert. The vegan person I was with ordered a falafel wrap and an orange blossom latte with pistachio milk. The lattes were unique and delicious, although the pistachio latte wasn't as hot as it should have been. Their signature salad was just blah--arugula, cherry tomatoes, pickled onions and some pistachios. I definitely could have made something better at home and I think it was around $17. I didn't finish it. We went in and looked at the pistachio cake and it looked as if it was the same dry cake from the night before. We passed and asked for the check. One last thing--the patio chairs are too low to the ground for the height of the table which makes for awkwardness when trying to eat. This is hands down the most beautiful cafe in New Haven -- it felt like sitting in a room of a museum. Every detail, from the cafe's stunning aesthetic to the warm service and perfectly crafted coffee, was exceptional. Went about a month ago. Only two other people there. Ordered a "classic" aka a bacon, egg, cheese. After 30 min i asked about my sandwich. Not sure what happened but they said it would be 5 more min. Other people trickled in and got food while i was still waiting's after 8 min i asked for my money back which they were quick to do. Seems like they are well practiced in that procedure. We wanted to inform anyone going to this cafe that when you order pistachio finger, be aware that it might be stale !!! My husband ordered a Turkish coffee and all he got was a shot glass with loads of coffee ground bene and 3 teaspoons of "coffee" ! When he approached a male worker about the stale pistachio fingerand told him that it was stale, he said oh okay, and took his half eaten pistachio finger away !! Majority of the café is sectioned off for customers who want to dine in and a small portion at the front is where you can bring a laptop and chillax. The customers arrived in waves, mainly for their hot/cold drinks and pastries to go. We were seated at the prettiest booth with enough room to lounge out. The menu was great! TONS of options from different teas to paninis, waffles, soups, freshly squeezed OJ... you name it! I LOVE freshly squeezed OJ so of course I had to order a glass with a side of sparkling water, haha. The OJ was fresh, just the way I like. My cousin and sister ordered a matcha latte and you can't visit Pistachio Café without ordering anything pistachio flavored so my cousin ordered a pistachio latte which both drinks were delicious! Our brunch orders consisted of fresh eggs, hash browns, toast, salad and a side of strawberries. I was full, but not uncomfortable which is always a win. #6 in my NEW ENGLAND & NY COFFEE SHOP SERIES Another one of my top cafe spots in New Haven! It's a little pricey but their pastries and drinks are delicious! Plus it's SUPER aesthetic! They have a huge pastry menu to choose from as well as a pastry case to decide what you want :) They also have a large food menu with breakfast items and lunch. In addition to all the food and desserts, they have all your classic cafe drinks as well as some speciality items. I got the pistachio latte & a hazelnut tart and OMG the hazelnut tart was one of the best things I've ever had. It reminds me so much of European pastries. Elegance at its finest! Pistachio cafe blew me away. The ambiance and decor was so enchanting and delightful that being there immediately put me in a good mood. The big windows let in the sunshine of the day and all the details of design in the cafe, down to the tea sets were all so charming. I felt like I was a queen in royal fairy land. A generous glass display showcased all the beautiful pastries. We found a perfect 2 top by the window and reviewed the menu. I started with the honey cinnamon latte. It was perfect. My niece and I decided to get something savory and sweet for a morning brunch to share. The Rose waffles and the turkey pesto panini is what we chose. The Rose waffles were probably the best waffles I ever had! Not only was the presentation absolutely exquisite, dolloped with sweet ricotta, drizzled with rose jam and sprinkled with pistachios, it tasted just as wonderful. I give it a 10/10. Even though the panini could not compare because of the different flavors, I agreed it was quite delicious too. The server brought out a garlic aioli sauce with our panini to dip our fries in and it was the perfect recommendation. That homemade garlic sauce was also a 10/10. The service was also impeccable. Our server noticed it was our first time there from the beginning and with every recommendation she nailed it. With her customer service skills, the environment and the food, I will be back a million times. Pistachio cafe was definitely a 10/10 for me. I saw Pistachio all over social media and was excited to try it out. My experience could be singular so grain of salt, right? Unfortunately, that day, service was understaffed so they tried their best. Seating was plenty but their policy allows a lot of lingering (cool if you want to set up a laptop), which made it hard to wait/find a table. No Parkin lot and that sucks but, that's New Haven. Food was diner quality. Disappointing. Also, the insta-worthy photo wallpaper and aesthetic felt...flat. The tables felt grimy. The kitchen is right next to the bathrooms and felt iffy with the sanitary situation. Floors were filthy. Bathroom was grody. The dessert selection was niche. Ambience was mixed and a lot of families with little ones running around. Food came after we had to ask 3 times and staff felt discombobulated. It was a 35 minute wait for food. No utensils? That's a twist. But they had plastic fork and knives. Warm water with no ice; Very Euro. We got the water ourselves and ordered at the counter. It's not a dining experience honestly. It's set up like a cafeteria hall with some pretty photos and threadbare sofa chairs. That's not how it's advertised so heads up! Not worth the hype. read more

The coffee is great, the food menu is super fun and eclectic and definitely delicious. The dessert bar is to die for, and we got stuff to go. Cons: Service could be better. I waited 10 mins up front to be seated (it wasn't that busy), and I had 1 glass of water, and then never got asked if I want a refill, and a server was hard to catch.
