Was highly recommended and it lived up to its hype. I really enjoyed my plain bagel with scallion schmear. Friend got the BEC. Boss got bagel schmear and lox. They have limited but nice outdoor seating. Nice service. I'd return.

This place is amazing. Full stop. Would come all the time if I were local! FOOD: Bagels. Interesting cream cheeses. Cookies. Yum. Sadly they were out of the Cacio Pepe bagel but I would 100% come back for it. SERVICE: 10 stars out of 5. The people here are super super nice! AMBIANCE: Some outdoor seating. Cute. BATHROOM: Clean with lots of toilet paper! Quite hilarious, actually.

A friend recommended Olmo for bagels, so we stopped by while in New Haven. The place was busy when we visited on a weekend afternoon, but there were kiosks to speed up ordering. I enjoyed the unique bagel and spread options available. I got the cacio e pepe bagel with beet & veggie dill cream cheese while my bf got the egg sandwich with avocado mash. He was not impressed and said that new york bagels are better, but I thoroughly enjoyed mine. Not only was the cream cheese a fun color, but it essentially tasted like tzatziki, which I love.

I'm not sure what's in the air here, but New Haven's boats an impeccable culinary scene from fast casual to upscale. I'm a big bagel stickler and having just arrived from NYC, I thought I've seen it all. My best friend suggested Olmo, claiming that their bagel is the best she's ever had. In truth, I didn't believe her, but i walk away from this experience as an Olmo diehard fan. Their bagels are absolutely brilliant. Tens, elevens even, across the board. I've truly never had anything like it. Their flavors are unique with a Zaatar and Cacio bagel; candidly, I was too much of a purist to try them this time around and opted for the safe yet mildly experimental Rosemary bagel. Stop everything you're doing. Book the flight. Try this. Its crust is crackly with a bubbly top, almost akin to that of high quality sourdoughs, yet the interior is plush with a quintessentially dense bagel crumb. God, there's no limit to the amount of praises I can sing about this. The flavors with the okonomiyaki are well balanced also with the sweet tangy bbq contrasting the luscious, creamy egg omelette. It's really REALLY hard to choose a favorite though as I tried their lox, okonomiyaki, white fish, and cinnamon raisin shmear, and all of them were excellent in their own right. The workers are also incredibly kind and accommodating, working fast to complete every order efficiently. Olmo's so good I had four of their bagels within a 24 hour period. Does it really get any better than this?

It was my first time in New Haven and I was searching for first time foods that I must try while I was here. Other than New Haven Pizza, Google recommended I get a New Haven Bagel. They recommended I go to Olmo. I walked over on a sunny day and placed my order on the computer. I ordered an egg sandwich on an everything bagel with an iced coffee. I was excited to see what makes New Haven bagels so special. They did not have indoor seating so I had to sit outside in the heat. I started eating my egg sandwich and realized it was very chewy. It did not have the crispy, crunchy flavor that I was used to in New York City bagels. It took a while to eat it and experience the flavor. It is okay I guess. I wouldn't say I would switch over to New Haven bagels any time soon but it did the job. It is almost like the New Haven style pizza in the area. It is nice to try but I think I will stay with the classics back home.

Literally the best bagel breakfast sandwich I've ever had -- line was a bit long on Saturday morning but so worth it

"You got to be kidding me You got to be joking" (Graham Parker) You've really got to be kidding me or joking with me if you tell me there is such a thing as a New Haven bagel. Well, please excuse this uninformed schmuck for not knowing that there REALLY IS something known as a New Haven style bagel. Just do a little research like I did and you might be astonished to learn that a New Haven-style bagel is characterized by a unique, "steam-only" cooking method instead of traditional boiling, resulting in a lighter texture with a thin, crispy crust. They're described as having a soft, airy, and warm interior with a crisp, slightly chewy exterior and form the missing link between New York and Montreal style bagels. Well, now that you have that info, you should also know that the Olmo Bagel Shop is widely considered the home of the original "New Haven-style" bagel. Their bagel varieties include Original, Everything, Sesame, Everything Everything, Poppy, Cacio E Pepe, Onion Sea Salt, and Za'atar. Now, I'm sure you're wondering if that Everything Everything was a typo, and the answer is......no. Everything Everything is one of their specialties, described as "a savory delight using our unique house blend of sesame, black sesame, onion, garlic, poppy, Italian seasoning, herbs de Provence, sea salt, black pepper, cheddar, malt vinegar, Korean chili flake, nori, and tofu bacon bits". I guess that adequately explains the double "everything" and surely explains why I just had to buy one. We visited their booth at the Wallingford Garden Market today and were blown away by their gorgeous looking bagels, pricing, and fantastic customer service. All together, we bought two bagels at a very reasonable $2 a pop, and when our counter person found out it was our first crack at Olmo's bagels, he gifted us a third. Our three were an Original, an aforementioned Everything Everything, and the freebie was a Cacio E Pepe with "a generous amount of black pepper topped with a slice of caramelized provolone cheese, which gives this bagel its reddish hue". I enjoyed my Everything Everything for tonight's dinner with some cream cheese and smoked salmon. The bagel was very good, nice and chewy and all that spice made for a distinctive flavor that curiously reminded me a bit of Thanksgiving stuffing of all things. We split the Cacio E Pepe bagel for breakfast the next day and that was a smash hit as well, with plenty of flavor sitting on top of a caramelized provolone blanket. It was savory, decadent, and delicious! Well, next time we're in New Haven (and we can manage to parallel park), guess where we're headed for bagels?

Amazing bagel spot! We got a cold brew and their Spicy Deluxe sandwich, which had bacon egg avocado mash and spicy mayo, on their Everything Everything bagel. I really enjoy how crispy and chewy the bagel was, without it being too thick. It was busy even at 7am, so be prepared wait a little but it's easy to order since there are tablets for self-ordering. Comfortable seating outdoors, but may be hot

What a terrific place--excellent, friendly service, the best bagel I've ever had (cacio e pepe!!) and loved the outdoor cafe style seating!

Best bagels in New Haven! New Haven had a major bagel deficit until they came around. The cacio e pepe bagel is fantastic. I mostly stop by on weekend mornings and even though they are busy, the staff work quickly and efficiently. If a certain bagel flavor is showing as not available on the in store kiosk or online, it usually gets restocked very quickly if you allow a few minutes. Customer service is also great the staff are so friendly and helpful. Keep up the good work, Olmo!

Turkey egg, cheese, Arugula and pickled onions on plain bagel

I've had their sandwiches several times and its always consistently great! My husband has been eating here for years. I usually get the turkey, egg, and cheese with picked onions and today Arugula was added....OMG! They provide fast service and are still nice. It gets busy in the tight space and I know why - it's so good! Not easy to park around there, however it's still worth the hassle for a to-go order. I don't eat from here often, however, if I was closer, it would be a problem.

Extremely good and worth the visit. Efficient kiosk-based ordering system. I came around lunchtime on a Wednesday and it only took ~5 minutes for my order to come out. I got a toasted everything bagel with egg and cheese, and I added a sausage patty. The egg was perfectly cooked (fried to soft yolk) and the bagel was marvelous. The price was pretty reasonable for the area ($10 before tax and tip). I'd recommend this as an easy default breakfast if you are visiting New Haven.

Very busy but we ordered at a kiosk right away. I was excited to try a New Haven bagel, I got the everything everything with scallion cream cheese, toasted. Though my bagel did not look or taste toasted, it was overall okay.. a solid 3 stars but the service here is great so I bumped this place to 4 stars. I think it may have tasted better if I actually got my bagel toasted, it was just super chewy. Also, the give you lots of cream cheese which I love, but my cousin gets half the amount and says it enough.

What is the indoor seating situation like now?

From what I can remember there is just a few seats that are on a counter that sits on the front window. There's not much seating inside, but there is a LARGE patio with a ton of seats (obviously... for when it's warmer). But it's very small inside.

It's been a while since this question was asked but can you eat IN now?

Hi Lauren! Our current model has no indoor seating however we do have a patio for outdoor dining. Our guests follow the same strict guidelines of health safety that our staff follows: social distancing, mask wearing, and contactless transactions. We…

What is the beer and wine selection like?

So thankful it was in the quiet and quaint neighborhood of New Haven. Such a beautiful area. Very close to all the spots I had bookmarked. Cool coffee shop I gotta say. Spacious and clean. Just the actual vibe alone was relaxing. This is one of those locations where you can actually come sit and not be bothered. Few people inside were working on their laptops, some were just conversing with their friends. The barista was super friendly and worked fast. One thing I noticed and was wowed on was they serve wine as well. I mean how cool is that. Felt like I was at France for a minute, where the cafes serve coffee, tea and qwasonts during the day, and cocktails at night. Very chill. Can't thank them enough for how clean the bathroom was as well. All in all great coffee and service.
