    Chicken Tenders

Ladle & Loaf is a Kosher Mediterranean Fusion restaurant that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in January 2021. It was founded by husband and wife Benny and Ephrat Lieblich. After completing his training at culinary school, Benny spent the next several years learning the ins and outs of the food service industry. He also began catering kosher food at various private events. In 2014, Benny and Ephrat launched 'The Gusto Kitchen' out of a little kitchen in Brooklyn. What started out as catering private events turned into unique gourmet sandwiches. Seeking a better place to raise their family, the Lieblichs later relocated to New Haven. After securing a new restaurant location, the pandemic broke out and the couple hit a number of obstacles. They persevered and finally brought their culinary vision to the Elm City. The menu at Ladle & Loaf features several street food dishes inspired by flavors from the Middle East, North Africa, and India. My family and I recently stopped at Ladle & Loaf to order takeout. We were heading to a picnic and thought that we would try them out as we had heard good things. The interior of the restaurant was charming and the staff were friendly and helpful. My wife and I ordered and shared the "Falafel" (fried chickpea fritters in a pita with Israeli salad, pickles and tahini) and the "Shawarma" (chicken shawarma with hummus, fried eggplant, Israeli salad, pickled onion and amba in a pita). They were SO GOOD! We loved the blend of spices and the vegetables all tasted so fresh. My wife said that the sandwiches brought back memories of her time in Israel. We also ordered some "Chicken Tenders" and "Fries" for our son to nosh on; he was very happy. We are happy to have discovered Ladle & Loaf and we look forward to eating their delicious food again!

Very yummy old school (70s style with some updates) vegetarian restaurant (aka kosher dairy). I was…read morea little overwhelmed by all of the choices on the menu and decided to get an omelette for dinner. I could choose three veggies and a cheese. I picked spinach, arugula, mushrooms, and their house made queso blanco. It came with a few yummy French-fry-style roasted potatoes and one of their famous dinner rolls, which was multigrain and very hearty. Not cutting edge but all well-made and tasty. The bakery items looked amazing but I was full! So I got a piece of their carrot cake, which other customers were raving about, as well as a vegan gluten-free sunbutter cookie. I very much appreciate that they have outdoor seating! They happen to be very close to a smoke shop, so eating outside they just were a lot of people vaping or smoking as they passed. It's also a particularly hectic corner with people going to the theater or for music show. But I am planning to come back while I'm here and to try something else!

I swear that's why I've always loved tofu! And I'm mostly vegan now the past 28 years, and my mother the past 12. This place is a staple in New Haven and testament to their good food for staying open all these years. When Claire's first opened vegetarian restaurants weren't a thing, and over the years the menu has shifted.. but it's always good. For me it's home cooking style, comfort food.. they have their own style. This place was around before everyone was freaking out about carbs.. thank god! I never leave without a cookie and a muffin for later.. they're the best! I recently got hooked on the Sunbuttter cookie, and also enjoy the Lithuanian coffee cake muffin. Soups and salads come with the classic Claire mini loaf! A delicious buttery(is it vegan? don't know) mini loaf of bread, just as tasty as I remember it from my childhood. Their oat milk Matcha Lattes are creamy and they don't slack on the matcha. The service is always friendly and helpful. The menu accommodates vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free options as well. enjoy!

I'm a big bagel stickler and having just arrived from NYC, I thought I've seen it all. My best friend suggested Olmo, claiming that their bagel is the best she's ever had. In truth, I didn't believe her, but i walk away from this experience as an Olmo diehard fan. Their bagels are absolutely brilliant. Tens, elevens even, across the board. I've truly never had anything like it. Their flavors are unique with a Zaatar and Cacio bagel; candidly, I was too much of a purist to try them this time around and opted for the safe yet mildly experimental Rosemary bagel. Stop everything you're doing. Book the flight. Try this. Its crust is crackly with a bubbly top, almost akin to that of high quality sourdoughs, yet the interior is plush with a quintessentially dense bagel crumb. God, there's no limit to the amount of praises I can sing about this. The flavors with the okonomiyaki are well balanced also with the sweet tangy bbq contrasting the luscious, creamy egg omelette. It's really REALLY hard to choose a favorite though as I tried their lox, okonomiyaki, white fish, and cinnamon raisin shmear, and all of them were excellent in their own right. The workers are also incredibly kind and accommodating, working fast to complete every order efficiently. Olmo's so good I had four of their bagels within a 24 hour period. Does it really get any better than this?

The place had a really nice and chill vibe, really nice decor and a great spot for a somewhat nice lunch. They were serving their lunch menu and I ended up getting the mussels pad Thai, and a chicken curry puff appetizer and a Thai tea. The Thai tea was solid, and the chicken curry puffs were very good. But the stand out was the pad Thai. I've never had a creamy pad Thai and this was amazing. So flavorful. I didn't know what to expect with the mussels but I loved the mussels in the shell and it added a great flavor to the dish! I will definitely be coming back again to order this, and try some of their other items!

The sauce was similar to Thai seafood sauce, but thicker, with a very strong garlic kick. Mixing it into the rice added a clever touch, cutting through the richness without making it soggy. Long Island Duck Pineapple Curry: Recommended by the owner. My first time trying a sweet and sour curry; the refreshing pineapple balanced well with the rich curry. The duck was just okay, mainly because it was too dry. Mango Sticky Rice: A pleasant surprise; my parents also loved it. The coconut milk had a strong sea salt and caramel flavor, likely due to the addition of coconut sugar or palm sugar. Steamed Vegetables: Just steamed vegetables, without any seasoning. A sprinkle of salt would have made it tastier.
