Ordered takeout on a Wednesday evening. Online ordering was easy and on time. Picking up was a little difficult because there isn't a good place to pull over and go inside to pick up the food. I ordered the rice bowl with chicken shawarma, hummus, seasoned onions, fried cauliflower, and creamy garlic with tzatziki and white sauce. The meal came with a lot of protein which was nice. I wish the sides were a little bigger and that you could choose more than 4. But got lots of meals out of this and flavors were good! Prices seemed fair for the size. Made a pit stop in New Haven to grab some quick dinner. Staff are so friendly, greet everyone who comes through the door with a lot of enthusiasm. Similar to Cava and Chipotle, where you get to pick your protein, then add toppings. Notable difference in portion between mine and my bf's container. Mine was heaping and almost difficult to close but my bf's was just over half full. Paid $15.75 for each. Roasted cauliflower was surprisingly good. Like mediterranean chipotle but better. We ordered the chicken Shawarma bowl and the portion was really big, which was very good. One thing I really enjoyed about this meal is that their food is fresh and the chicken just came off the grill. The rice is not hard, the sauce is not too salty. I would say this is a place I would go after I go to the gym to fill my stomach. It is a better healthier alternative to chipotle. Nice portion that's perfect for a college town. CAVA is better though but it's 45 minutes away. Great meal to enjoy when you feel hungry while watching youtube or a movie so you don't realize what exactly you're eating. Generous portions! I got a chicken shawarma wrap, and the seasoning on the chicken and cauliflower was yum. I completely loaded it with toppings so I ended up eating the wrap like a bowl, but thats just life -- and I prefer it that way! Normally I don't pay attention to service in fast casual restaurants like this, but the ladies at the counter were really sweet in an authentic way. I feel like I'd be friends with them. The wrap was toasted, although the ingredients weren't that warm so I do wish it was heated a bit more. Overall it's a great place to quickly drop by to grab a healthy filling meal! read more

Finally had an opportunity to visit Pitaziki since I was working from my office, nearby. I placed my order online and my order was ready upon arrival. My older specifically was; Chicken Shwarma Bowl Salad Bowl Lettuce Seasoned Onions Red Cabbage Fried Cauliflower Roasted Eggplant Baba Ganoush White Sauce I decided to eat in because I was fairly hungry and in had a bit of a drive home. The restaurant itself has tons of seating which I observe many people who come here on their lunch break take advantage of. There is outdoor seating as well which is shown in one of my photos. The restaurant is also very clean with beautiful lit up quotes hanging around along with aesthetically pleasing wall paper. Overall, my food was phenomenal, I had questions about the baba ganoush I added into my salad and the employee was more than happy to answer my questions. I didn't get a chance to speak to the owner but he seemed very hands on and supportive of all his employees. I definitely recommend pitaziki and will be returning. read more

I tried the chicken shawarma pita so good and flavorful, it's a choose your own toppings type place like chipolte but make it Mediterranean. My husband got the gyro wrap which was equally good and flavorful. They had alot of options , lamb meatballs, gyro, chicken, falafel etc. All which was halal except the lamb. When in New Haven CT, you have to try this spot. They make the best Shawarma in town. The toppings are perfectly chopped to fit into a pita. The garlic sauce is a must have, the hot sauce is more flavorful than the super hot I've become to expect. Need I mention the steak fries. Love the way they season these with curry. Pitaziki is a Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in June 2014. It was founded by Egyptian immigrant Gasser Badawi and his father Kaled. The Badawi Family came to New Haven from Egypt in 2004. They came up with the idea for Pitaziki when they sought to make a fast-casual restaurant similar to Chipotle, but with a Mediterranean menu instead of a Mexican one. Although this is the family's first restaurant, they are no strangers to the culinary world. Gasser's uncle and cousins have a similar Mediterranean restaurant in Canada, and Kaled was trained at a culinary school in London. Some of the menu items at Pitaziki include Chicken Shawarma, Gyro, Lamb Kofta, Falafel, Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Tabbouleh, and Seasoned Fries. My wife and I recently visited Pitaziki for lunch when we both had had off from work. The line is set up so that a customer chooses the base (pita, wrap, salad bowl or rice bowl), then chooses a filling (falafel, chicken kabob, chicken shawarma, lamb kofta, gyro or grilled veggies), and then chooses toppings (feta, hummus, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, pickles, roasted eggplant, etc). We both ended up picking one of their specials: the "Shwafel". This dish is a combination of chicken shawarma and falafel that is topped with creamy garlic sauce, hummus, pickles, lettuce and tahini sauce and served in a choice of pita, wrap or salad bowl. My wife and I always have a hard time choosing between shawarma and falafel at a Mediterranean restaurant, so a Shwafel sounded amazing! We ordered one in a wrap and one in a pita and shared them. One of my new favorite spots for Mediterranean food! I love the fast-casual set up, and how you can customize pretty much anything to your liking. The Pitaziki meat combo was honestly unreal! Such a great value for the generous portion size, and everything in it was so fresh and flavorful. I would 100% order that again on my next visit. We had a chicken kebab pita, and the pita itself was so soft. Their hummus is amazing, and I enjoyed watching the falafel be prepared right in front of me! Quick, affordable, delicious! I've been to pitaziki several times and couldn't believe I've never left a review. Everytime I come here I leave happy and satisfied. The food is fresh, delicious, and quality. The chicken is tender and flavorful, the falafel us crispy and fluffy, and the portions are generous! I ordered a shwafel bowl today and it's going to generously feed me for at least 2 lunches, maybe 3. If you like Mediterranean food I highly recommend this place. They are clean, tasty, and reliable. Have gone to the food cart on Cedar Street not the restaurant. Food is outstanding. Fresh chicken, super fresh veggies and toppings. Friendly service and affordable pricing. If someone steals your sandwich when you're not looking, it's Pitasneaky. If your Pita makes your mouth smell of garlic for the rest of the night, it's Pitareeky. If you figure out the density of your pita using Physics formulas, it's Pitageeky. And if you're getting it the back way while you eat it, it's Pitagreeky. I didn't love this popular Mediterranean Pita place which is a "Haven" for the Yale kids of New Haven and other locals, featuring a younger crowd, mainly from the colleges, but I liked it, and that's saying a lot since I'm picky as a b**ch. So I didn't have high hopes (unlike Panic!), but I was in need of some food and it was late at night, so Pitaziki came in handy. It has nothing on some of the better locations of Mamouns (especially Hoboken), but the one here is substandard and Pitaziki is actually better than it. So while it's not upper echelon NYC-standard or Toronto-standard Middle Eastern food, in Connecticut terms it's actually not bad, and I appreciate that, as well as the fact that they were willing to make me food late at night in a city that doesn't really have a big selection of late night offerings. So for these factors it definitely earns 4 stars and I'm sure I'll be coming here again in the future too. Now I have to change clothes, and the bathroom is busy. So I'm going to do it right here, please don't Pitapeeky. read more

Nice spot in the city. Very low key. We loved the build your own plates. Imagine Chipotle with a Mediterranean emphasis. I had a rice bowl with chicken and lamb. The rice was perfect in terms of cook and flavor, the meats and veg all were well spiced and the sauces added the perfect finishing touch. The staff will patiently walk you through the ordering process, helping you match the choices to your palate. My only gripe are the containers. Great for eating in, however if you attempt to take them home your food will make its way out to see the city for itself. I would definitely make a return trip, (with Tupperware.) read more

We love the chicken shawarma at Pitaziki. We enjoy it at their storefront and at their cart at Westville Music Bowl.

The food was delicious and portions were big. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated for a fast food type setting. The 2 women that prepared our food were both friendly and helpful. There was a problem customer in the shop arguing for a full refund of her purchase after eating all of it but a few spoons of rice. The employee did a professional job at trying to deescalate the situation while remaining clam and professional while the customer raised her voice and was yelling at the staff. read more
