We came by for lunch. We shared the dishes together. I loved the chicken shish and the yogurtlu adana. The flavors were vibrant and it was a very filling lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't crowded despite being a weekend and the service was attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I came for lunch on a weekend and got a table quickly. The service was quick and attentive. I got the chicken shish and yogurthu adana to share with a friend. Both dishes were very good and seasoned well.

I really enjoyed everything we had to eat and drink. This was our first time here, and we will absolutely will be back. We loved our drinks. They were perfect. The hummus was so fresh tasting. It came with veggies and pita. We opted for one of the lamb dishes, with yogurt and it was absolutely delicious.

    Lentil soup with bread

This place has been on my list for so long! Walked in it's a cute little spot with a lot of outdoor seating for the summer months, they have a cafe and restaurant inside. We first tried their lentil soup which was sooo good. Perfect taste and I love it with the bread. I tried their cherry juice which is a given for Turkish restaurants , and my husband tried the yogurtlu Adana which was so good. I was blown away by the flavor in this dish the yogurt paired with the tomatoes sauce was amazing. Also my Adana kebab was great too very well seasoned and perfectly made. The food came out very quick within maybe 20 minutes which was nice. And staff was attentive. I will be coming back!

===== RATING: B+ ===== Midpoint Istanbul prides itself in being the first "Modern Mediterranean" spot in New Haven influenced by cuisine from the Byzantines to the Ottomans. While it's not a phenomenal, world-class fine dining experience, Midpoint craftily elevates traditional Mediterranean food above the hole-in-wall-esque mom-and-pop shop standard. We stopped by for a casual dinner and overall, it was satisfyingly pleasant. === [FOOD: 6/10] === Ordering was easy! I love that their menu has pictures of pretty much everything. It makes it super user-friendly for people new to the Mediterranean scene. = Spicy Tampenade (6/10) = All the veggies were cooked to perfection! It was well incorporated with the seasoning and I loved the zingy-ness of the lemon and sour pomegranate juice. It didn't look like much, but it was pretty filling as an appetizer. I would say it was on the pricier side though. = Eggplant Salad (6/10) = Light and refreshing! It was definitely a contrast to the heavier, more savory Spicy Tampenade we had with it. It was good, but nothing super special. It was also on the pricier side. = Chicken Shish (7/10) = The chicken was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. The tart char-grilled tomato balanced out the saltiness of the chicken while the grilled pepper gave it a little kick. It came with two different kinds of rice which were both a little dry, but paired well overall with the moist chicken and tomato. === [SERVICE: 5/10] === Our server wasn't particularly friendly, but wasn't rude either. It might have been an off day for him. While the service wasn't phenomenal, I have no major complaints. === [AMBIANCE: 7/10] === I can't speak for the inside, but the outdoor space is adorable! We sat outside on the patio to enjoy the lovely late-spring sun, and even with it being on a fairly busy intersection, it wasn't noisy. There was good lighting, music, and easy access to the servers. I would definitely sit outside again when the weather is nice. ===== [OVERALL: 6/10] ===== Midpoint didn't quite live up to my expectations as a "fine dining" experience and I have yet to experience the more "modern" or fusion-y aspects of their Mediterranean selection. However, eating here was still an enjoyable experience. I'll definitely be returning and next time, I'll be more adventurous with the entree selection!

Delicious food. Fresh, great outdoor seating, elegant indoor seating. Friends and I shared a few dishes, some of which are shown. Highly recommend. Perfect setting for dining out with a group.

Kofte. $19 for this was a bit steep.

Stopped by here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. There weren't too many people, which made sense given that we came by in the summer when students aren't on campus. My party ordered four dishes: the house salad, Kofte, Chicken Shish, and the Midpoint Adana. The house salad, which came out at $10, was excellent. The dressing they used made the salad taste quite good and included many types of vegetables - cucumbers, carrots, and a couple more. Impressive dish. I ordered the chicken shish, which was good, but nothing to write home about. The chicken was quite tender and seasoned decently. The yogurt sauce that came with it was not my cup of tea. I ended up not using much of it at the end. Not great bang for your buck in my opinion, as the serving sizes weren't that large either. Overall, a solid place, but I think you could do better for your money.

    Yogurt Adana

We came here on a semi-rainy day and the ambiance was still great! The service was decently-paced and the waitress gave us really good advice for our large group of 13 people. She recommended we get the mixed tapas (highly recommend to try a wide selection of different flavors) and individual entrees. I ordered the yogurt adana (lamb meat on hot buttered bed of bread cubes that is soaked in cold yogurt and sizzling hot fried tomato sauce) and absolutely loved the flavors! There was a bit too much oil for my taste, to be honest, which is why I am giving my meal 4 stars but it was still delicious. I couldn't finish it all on my own and had to get some of it to-go but would come again in the future! Do be forewarned, the prices are a bit on the higher end so I'd suggest coming for a special occasion.

It was our first time trying this restaurant in New Haven. The place is very neat and clean from the inside and social distancing is maintained. There weren't many people in the restaurant when we arrived for lunch. It's a nice cozy place and has a good ambiance. We started with their midpoint grill mix that two people can share easily. It comes with lamb chop, lamb shish, chicken shish and some hummus and yogurt that we requested. Their bread is complimentary with olive oil. Chicken and lamp chop tasted fresh but lamb shish didn't taste fresh to me. It was hard to chew and I'm not sure if it was lamb or beef shish because it tasted like beef. The menu didn't state anything about beef shish but I think there were some beef shish included in this grill mix. We also tried their falafel plate and that was good. I liked their dessert the most - it's called Kazandibi and originates from the palace of Ottoman Empire. This dessert is a type of caramelized milk pudding served with pistachio and fruit. Take a look at my photo below to see how it looks! It was perfect with Turkish tea. Overall, this is a great restaurant and everything tasted fresh except for the lamb shish, which really tasted like hard beef and weren't easy to chew. So stick with chicken shish instead and you will enjoy those!

Food : 5/5 Ambience : 5/5 Service : 3/5 Great date night spot! We got the mixed tapas to share - everything was super fresh and delicious. The complimentary pita bread was unbelievably good. For our mains, we split the arugula salad with falafel and the lamb shish. The salad was delicious with fresh goats cheese and a light pomegranate dressing and plenty of walnuts. Loved the falafel as well - crisp and perfect. My friend loved his lamb shish. To finish our dinner, we got the baklava to share with a Turkish coffee. The baklava was fresh, light, super flaky and delicious! The coffee was alright. It did look like they were understaffed and we had to keep requesting for refills of water. With the exception of that, the service was good. Super cute bathrooms as well. Run if you're in NH!

What a find! Gorgeous dining area in the heart of downtown with great views of the street through the large windows. The staff were great in helping us select dishes and recommended appetizers for us to try. The mezzo plates were delicious and we shared some for the table since our crowd was hungry. We had stuffed grape leaves (vegetarian) and hummus and everyone was happy. My daughter had the grilled salmon entree and I ordered the eggplant musakka. My husband (the less adventurous palate among us) was pleased with the sautéed chicken plate. We tried a yogurt beverage for the first time called Ayran and while it won't be an every visit drink, I'm glad I tried it once. I can't wait to return to try more of these amazing dishes! I just loved the dining room which blended the city brick and wood floor with chandeliers, mismatched seats and other touches that seemed a harmonious blend of shabby chic and bohemian romantic. Lovely experience!

    Is it halal restaurant?

The owner is from Istanbul so it wouldn't surprise me if the meal is halal. I would call the restaurant to confirm.

Is this a place "safe" for those who need to stay away from gluten?

We arrived on a Monday around peak dinner time, but there was essentially no wait (apparently uncommon according to my friend -- just a delightful consequence of dining at a college town during the summer). We split a medium pizza (1/2 elote mexican street corn and 1/2 bbq brisket), proving to be more than enough for two plus a more than ample amount of leftovers. Recently, I've gravitated toward thinner pizzas, a far cry from the typical Detroit (foccacia-esque) style pizzas I used to prefer, and BAR's pizza is akin to a flatbread yet very thin, another fallen angel to the GLP's. The undercarriage boasts a brilliant crust, almost cracker-like. However, it should be noted that the pizza is indulgent all the same. The elote pizza is quite possibly the most memorable, unique pizza I've ever had; it arrives almost crimson-red with a generous layer of corn and takis atop. It's still incredibly well balanced despite the hodgepodge of varied toppings. It's hard to pick a favorite between this and the bbq brisket though; while one is incredibly unique the other is simply sumptuous, nothing pedestrian about either of the two. The service is also impeccable, almost rivaling that of southern hospitality. I always thought Californians were friendly but something is in the air every time I visit New Haven. Incredible!
