    Falafel over Rice
    Natalia V.

This is the spotttt! Bằng for your buck as they say, flavor packed and loaded plate. Falafel over rice, all the sauces, white, green, bbq and hot!! That hot sauce is forreal hot but I love how juicy and sauced up the platter is. The falafel is mouth watering and moist.

There is a Halal food truck in Manhattan that I absolutely love, but unfortunately, they are too far. I finally decided to try this place because I was craving a combo plate. They definitely didn't disappoint. The lamb and the chicken were seasoned to perfection, the rice had a great texture, I like mine spicy, but it wasn't overbearing. The white sauce, the green sauce and the barbecue all came together very well. I'm sure their gyros are delicious and I wouldn't mind trying one in the future. It's a very quick service establishment, but they don't lack in quality or flavor. No seating or limited seats (I forgot). But ample parking outside. The young lady at the service counter was very hospitable. It's nice knowing I don't have to wait until I'm in Manhattan for a mixed plate.

Delicious "fast food" Halal... In short, I loved it! Halal food is all food that is considered to be lawful and permitted according to the Islamic faith. The type of animal, health of animal, and slaughtering practices are strictly controlled. It's about a lifestyle! This actually makes for better tasting meat and better tasting meals overall. I love the simple concise menu consisting of gyros, sanwhiches, several platters and salads. I ordered a salad in which u pick a protein *I love lamb and then you choose what veggies you want plus a sauce. With only a few veggie selections,I didn't expect this to be as good as it was. My sauce was the green chili chutney. It was delicious and filling! Then I went for the 6pc hot wings. Super crispy and flavorful! It's new, so it's clean and hopefully stays that way. There is only Small seating area. Customer service is great! I loved that I was able to see the menu and order online. So convenient! This is actually a chain restaurant, so the consistency of food and service should stay the same. And the prices are right. A great value for what you get. I see the potential for this to become a regular place of mine!!!

Highly recommend this place! They're in a little strip mall so you can find lots of parking outside. Place is really neat and clean. The service was really great - thank you to the lovely Indian lady whose name starts with an A - sorry! I had the combo platter which has chicken and lamb on really delicious rice. I really liked the rice a lot - it had lots of flavor. Then you can choose black beans, grilled onions, and salads, and chickpeas. They put a lot of their delicious white sauce on top. This sauce is like a ranch dressing with mayo. Yum. You also get a green sour sauce and a red really spicy sauce with it. There's lots of really clean seating. It was nicely air conditioned on a really hot day. They also have Philly cheesesteaks and gyros. You can read about how they started in Queens. Really excellent!

Combo over rice with their signature white sauce..crave worthy!!

Stop, drop and get here!!! This is the halal version of Subway but totally next level. The food is fast, fresh and extremely flavorful. When you walk in you choose your meal from the menu overhead. Then it's prepared fresh in front of your eyes. They make gyro sandwiches, platters of your choice of meat or fish with rice and sides with their signature creamy garlicky sauce. (Yes the bottled it!!! It's that good) reminds me of my late nights in NYC at the food trucks. But again.. sooo much better. I had the combo plate which consisted of gyro meat and spiced chicken over rice with pickled red onions and peppers and salad. It's a crave worthy taste. If you've never tried halal food. You're missing out.. but let this be your first experience because the bar will be set very high in flavor.

This is a great spot. I was able to snag a BOGO deal for their chicken platter and lamb gyro. Both HIT and I'll be keeping an eye out for this place from now on. I ordered to New Haven (Wooster) and the items were still hot. They packaged everything so amazingly. The white sauce is glamorous and huge. The mango chutney is so tasty you should be ready to have it on everything. Red sauce was solid. BBQ sauce tastes like McDonald's in a good way. It's sweet, so use sparingly. I'm hype to go back to SHAH's. It's the best quality gyro ive had since moving to new haven from the DC area.

Good stuff. Pretty much a carbon copy of what you'd get from one of NYC's better halal carts, with some additional toppings that you don't usually see like chickpeas and sautéed veggies, and a clean, spacious seating area, which is a nice change from trying to find a public bench. The only reason I've knocked off a star is because they're not quiiite at the level of, say, the legendary King of Falafel cart at 53rd and Park, or Mido's on 6th Ave, but they're pretty darned solid and they satisfied my halal fix.

If you enjoy the flavors of Indian food as well as one of those quick service, hot chicken restaurants you probably would enjoy Hot Murga. The chicken sandwich comes in five spice levels from no heat to super hot. I got the standard hot, and it has some kick, but it wasn't overpowering. Then again I enjoy spicy food. I also ordered their spiced mac & cheese. Again, not spicy at all, but flavorful. Also a good portion as I have leftovers for later. I had my food delivered, but this establishment is close to the Yale campus and street parking can be a bit tricky on Howe St. and around Broadway. I've been inside of the space once when it was a different restaurant some years ago, it's not a large space, but I'm pretty sure comfortable if you decided to dine in. If you ever find yourselves at a crossroad between wanting Chick-fil-A and Indian food, this would be a great alternative.

Honestly, I didn't think the Murga Sandwich itself had too much flavor - the fry was good and the chicken was juicy & crispy, it was just a lacking seasoning and even "hot" was not super spicy. The spice itself also tasted very one dimensional - just spicy, with no seasoning. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by the sandwich itself, but would be interested in trying some of their other sauces. The Badmaash Mac & Cheese was the redeeming item of the meal though - this is basically a Mac & Cheese, covered in tikka sauce & their spicy sauce, and topped with fried chicken. It's definitely a unique flavor, and I think the tikka masala sauce went really well with the cheesy mac texture. Definitely seems like the kind of late night out comfort craving, because it is super heavy. p.s. - pro tip, the sandwich itself is $12 but the sliders are $6 and definitely larger than half of a sandwich (probably closer to 2/3rds). So I'd get 2 sliders for $12 instead of a sandwich.

-- 3/5 My wife,…read moredaughter, and I visited Dave's Hot Chicken in Milford today, and overall, the experience was a mixed bag -- especially when comparing it to the newer location in Hamden. First Impressions & Cleanliness Right away, a few things threw us off. The floors were sticky in several areas. The table we sat at hadn't been cleaned -- leftover crumbs, empty ketchup packets, and general debris. The bathroom smelled strongly of urine, to the point that it reminded me of NYC project hallways. These first impressions affected the overall vibe of the visit. Order Pickup I ordered online, and the screen showed my food as ready. But when I went to the counter, the staff told me they were still plating it. Not a big deal -- I waited another five or six minutes before being called. No complaints there. Food Quality We ordered: The 2-slider + fries meal to split The 10-piece bites + fries for our daughter Flavor-wise, the food was okay, but the attention to detail wasn't consistent: My slider came with barely any slaw and no kale at all, even though it should include kale slaw, pickles, and Dave's sauce. I had to go back up and ask for slaw on the side, which they provided promptly, and then I fixed the sandwich myself. The sliders still had decent flavor, and the chicken was juicy, but the lack of freshness and proper build took away from the experience. Overall The Hamden location was noticeably cleaner and more organized. The Milford restaurant felt a bit neglected during our visit, which overshadowed what could've been a solid meal. Rating: 6/10 -- or 3/5 stars. We'd consider returning, but definitely hope for a cleaner environment next time.

It is intentional. The food, the market, the people, the energy of the place all make it worth the trip every single time. The flavors here are deeply rooted in the Middle East and the Mediterranean, and you can taste that authenticity in every bite. The hummus is silky and perfectly balanced with tahini and lemon. The baba ganoush carries real smoky depth. The chicken kebabs are juicy and seasoned all the way through. The shawarma is warm, aromatic, and layered with spice. The falafel is crisp outside, vibrant and herbaceous inside. My personal favorite is the Iraqi Chicken Sandwich. It is absolutely phenomenal. The chicken is tender, boldly seasoned, and packed with flavor. Every bite is balanced and satisfying. It is the kind of sandwich that stays on your mind long after you leave. Everything is halal and incredibly fresh. The place is always busy, which tells you everything. The food turns over quickly. The products in the market turn over quickly. There are always people picking up takeout and others shopping the shelves. And the market itself is a treasure. Authentic meats, cheeses, sausages, dairy products, dry goods, teas, dried beans, spices, specialty ingredients and more, all reflecting the flavors of the Middle East and the Mediterranean. These are items you simply will not find in conventional grocery stores. If you love to cook, you will walk out inspired. If you have never been before, do not be intimidated. Walk in. The staff are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. There is space to sit and enjoy your meal, and they do a huge takeout business as well.
