I didn't find this to be one of the great kosher delis. Though the portions were healthy, the food itself was middle of the road. The brisket was very salty, so much so that it ruined the meal. The turkey was cold cut quality; im used to fresh off the bone turkey breast. I can get a better sandwich at a sandwich shop unfortunately, and at a more modest price. The latkes were overly fried, to the extent that they were hard to cut, although they were tasty. On a positive note, the service was exceptional. There must be a great kosher deli on Long Island. A staple in the Commack community. Growing up in Commack, it was a long overdue visit Pastrami N Friends. I can see why it is special here and still around for many to enjoy. We only did a take out. My last review was over 10 years ago and I'm sad to say that this place has changed. I think we definitely started out on the wrong foot with the waitress who had a very mean tone with my daughter who walked in with a Starbucks cup. It would be totally understandable had the waitress just said that they dont allow outside food or drink but she was downright nasty. My daughter who has some "special needs" rarely goes out anyway was so embarrassed to be called out in such a mean way that she left the restaurant and cried in the car. I'm not saying that they should let customers do whatever they want but perhaps the waitress could tone it down just a little bit. One person in my party explained to the waitress that she could have been just a little kinder and she apologized. Ok damage done. The rest of us wanted to eat. I ordered a corned beef sandwich and we ordered potato pancakes to share. Potato pancakes came out cold but one was burnt and they tasted like they had been frozen, I was disappointed. My corned beef sandwich was delicious but very light on the meat as were the 2 other sandwiches at the table. For the price of the sandwich we expected it to be like it used to. Prices went up, portions got way smaller. All that plus the waitress throwing away my son's French fries which he wanted to take home, we won't be back. (The fries were delicious!) read more

I've been coming here either to eat in or takeout since I was a kid. One of the best deli's around the area and always excellent service too. I usually get the half sandwich and soup special which comes with a side of fries. I get the pastrami, and chicken soup sometimes with a matzo ball but usually without because it's a lot of food (they give you coleslaw and pickles as soon as you sit down). A TOP CHOICE Without a doubt, one of the most popular items at any Kosher Restaurant will be the deli meat sandwiches. And here at Pastrami and Friends, the corned beef, pastrami, roast beef, turkey, tongue, and brisket are some of the best around. I CAN JUST KEEP ON GOING The Dyker Heights Dips, come with your choice of roast beef, turkey, or brisket, with fried onions on a toasted club roll, with au jus and fries. Definitely try one of these. And then there's even the Knish-Wich, where you pick either pastrami, corned beef, or turkey, and then, this is placed on top of a cut open knish. I had one with corned beef on a fried knish with mustard, and it was unique and delicious. And finally, if you're a fan of stuffed cabbage, Pastrami and Friends makes a really great one. IT'S A DELI AND A RESTAURANT There's a nice sized restaurant area in the rear, with full table service, But mostly, I enjoy stopping in, and ordering take-out from the deli counter. When doing this, you'll be greated by Ernie (a super friendly and personable guy), and the rest of the staff. Without a doubt, they always seem really happy to help you place your order. So the next time you're driving home, and can't figure out what you want for dinner, just put Pastrami and Friends into Google Maps.  And then when you arrive, let Ernie take your order, and/or help you decide what to bring home. This was my first time patronizing this establishment. I'm not a pastrami lover, but ordered a sandwich for my husband. He said the pastrami was delicious but complained that they didn't put mustard on both sides of the bread. The bread wasn't anything special and the sandwich was a bit pricey! So here's the thing, they aren't clean, plain and simple. I only get soup here because it's the only thing they can't touch with their hands. Don't believe me? Go in and order anything other than soup, to go, and just watch. The guys at the counter wear rubber gloves that they wear while making your food, and continue wearing them while handling money. This is our local kosher deli which has been churning out perfect triple decker, combo sandwiches, hotdogs, fries, soup, knishes, etc etc since I was a kid. I've been here countless times for take out. I usually scarf down a dog n kraut while I'm waiting for my turkey/corned beef/tongue with Russian and Cole slaw or whatever. I came here because my girlfriends grandmother has been wanting some fresh pastrami and Katz deli is just way yo eat for that drive so I googled some local places and came across pastrami & friends. Upon walking in I loved how you had all the local jewish people from the neighborhood coming in and supporting the local neighborhood spot. I ordered a quarter pound of pastrami and a quarter pound or corn beef. I also got a pastrami sandwich and a knish. The pastrami sandwich was decent and had a great amount of pastrami on it but the quality wasn't there. It wasn't terrible, but I had way better pastrami from other places. I really enjoyed the corn beef better then the pastrami to be honest, but overall I would definitely come back again and get a sandwich. Overall, decent local spot for your pastrami craving. Here's the Scoop! My honey and I were in the area shopping today and Yep we came for the delicious Pastrami and corn beef sandwiches on rye. We order them juicy which means a little fat in our slices. Oh la la so, so good. We enjoyed them with a side of straight cut fries that are fried to perfection , with cole slaw and kosher pickle. Whenever you come here for a meal it's just delicious! The service is quick and friendly. We waited about 5 minutes for our sandwiches. They hit the spot as usual! I miss 2nd Ave Deli and this is a good replacement. The staff is friendly. The food is excellent. We brought great grandma here a few times and celebrated her 100 birthday. The brisket, pastrami and corned beef were all delicious, similar to Katz. The tongue is very moist and flavorful but sometimes can be too salty. The chopped liver is superb, the best outside of 2nd Ave Deli. Matzo ball and soup is standard at our table. The rye bread is seedless! Would be a weekly visitor if I lived close by. We recently needed help with catering options and the order came out perfect. All the picky eaters were more than satisfied. We didn't order from the catering menu, but did meat by weight plus other noshes and sides. The price was great and the service pleasant. $250 fed 8 people plus everyone bought home another meal from the leftovers. They thought of everything. They even packed mustard! read more

I ordered a 1/2 a pound of chicken salad Couldnt see it from the counter they had it in the kitchen. As it came from the kitchen to the counter, the total was $12.50 for a half pound of chicken salad. This was by far the worst chicken salad I ever had. It was super heavy and loaded in mayo, along with it being canned chicken. I threw it out after 2 bites and told them I would never return to this deli. It is very outdated, food is in the open. When we got it home the sandwiches didn't look over stuffed. I called the owner said he weighed both sandwiches himself I said ok hung up and placed them on the plates. This is what the sandwich looked like A LUMP OF MEAT no top bread. No Cole slaw no Russian dressing just meat. I called back and he in not so many words, but close, called me a LIAR. She called our favorite diner since they have fantastic onion rings (Premiere Diner- Commack) No hotdogs! So the choice was our favorite hotdog truck ,but I know no onion rings ! So what was nearby the Pastrami & Friends! So off we go ! My wife ordered at the front & I sat at the table,only to find out we had to order at table via waitress! In a strip of stores, you walk into the Kosher deli counter, and proceed to the restaurant in the back. Not too big, quaint and clean. Retro hockey and baseball pictures hanging in the walls, take you down memory lane. They serve pickles and cole slaw to start you off. My husband had the bologna and pastrami sandwich. The pastrami was good good, he thought it was made on property, but it was not. They have it delivered from a Kosher distributor in Brooklyn. The Menu also has many touches of Brooklyn incorporated into it. I had the Knish-wich. A square knish, with your choice if meat on top, I chose Corned Beef and it was a hit!!
