I am surprised to see the negative reviews of Park Bake shop on here honestly. We have been coming here since we moved to the area 5 years ago and this is honestly one the best we have ever had. The negative reviews are kind of funny because of what people are complaining about. One guy went here to get coffee? No, this is not the place to get coffee, walk in the door and see that, it's not what they do. I don't think they even have an espresso machine here. I do have to admit that Park Bake shop does do breads and bagels but they are not very good. I tried once or twice because they looked good but the taste just isn't there. But what they do well is cookies, cakes, and pastries. Pretty much anything in the cases are excellent. All the cookies are awesome, always fresh, and all reasonably priced. I love Park Bake shop and will continue to come here often! read more

I stopped in specifically for coffee because I yelped coffee near me and this is what came up. So I got coffee there. I got a vanilla latte. It was like the type of coffee you get out of a machine in a hospital or something like that. I also ordered some biscotti. May ask for one of everything they have. The lady gave me six pastries. Three didn't even seem like biscotti to me. And there were other ones there that I would have liked better that she did not give me. So that's my bad for not paying attention and assuming she would just give me the ones that look like biscotti. The cakes and pastries look pretty but I wasn't there for that. And I do know this is a bakery. So besides the coffee not being good the biscotti was just average. The place is very cute. The staff is very friendly. Everybody was preoccupied with the baby that was there. The baby was very Cute. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here. read more

This place is adorable. Everything looks so fresh. We had a hard time deciding what to get because it all looked so good. We choose a cinnamon roll, a beautifully decorated flower cupcake and a chocolate cigar. My daughter also had an iced flavored coffee. Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh. Most of the bakery product are fresh and delicious. There are a couple of standouts: apple/cherry lattice pie, chocolate covered brownies, and the jelly cronuts. All are delicious! I believe Park Bake Shop is a solid, all around, old-school bakery. A friend mentioned they have amazing donuts here, specifically a Boston cream "kronut" so although this is nowhere near my house I had to head over to Kings Park to check it out. The kronut left me somewhat disappointed since they layers didn't hold up and all came together like a regular donut. There was no texture to it. I was expecting a crisper outside and flaky inside. The cream inside may have affected texture as well, and I didn't like the taste of the cream. I preferred the French cruller, which had nice air pockets but was overall mushy and sweet. Although I wouldn't come back for the donuts I tried a simple cupcake that we brought home and I thought the fluffy buttercream frosting was delicious along with the soft cake. They make a lot of interesting, beautiful baked goods here. There are tables where you can sit and enjoy your items. Self-serve coffee, but NO free refills. They seem like a fairly popular bakery judging by the flow of Saturday morning customers. They also have a great location down the road from Sunken Meadow beach. I would return if I was in the area to give something else a shot. read more

I've had this chocolate cake twice now. Once for a birthday and another time for a different celebration at the office. This is the best chocolate cake that I've ever had. It is decadent and rich. Every bite was a euphoric experience. If you're chocolate lover, get this cake. It reminds me of having a delicious brownie, but it's a cake. I'm usually not a cake guy, but this blew me off my feet. Needed something to settle my sweet tooth . Decided on this King's park local bakery . We have had some of their desserts at family events and they were yummy so I went for it . I was craving a cupcake bad ! Me and my daughter walked in an hour before they close and they still had a nice selection . Settled on a confetti cupcake for me and a flower cupcake for her and also scored a brownie and choc covered pretzel since they called us from behind the glass . Let's start with the vanilla vanilla cup cake . This thing was HUGE, it was the size of my whole hand . And it was delicious . Cake was perfect and not crumbly the frosting was rich and creamy butter cream . Nailed it . Only thing if I had to criticize would be a little less frosting . This thing was loaded ! Was only $3.50 My daughters cupcake ( $3) tasted just as good but I didn't get much it was hers also she ate up the brownie ($3)before I got to try it . She did say it was so frigging yummy tho! And finally the choc covered pretzel ($3.50). I guess their theme is over sized desserts because again this thing was huge ! It's not exactly a pretzel tho it's more like a puff pastry dough or croissant dough shaped like a pretzel and drowned in chocolate. Not salty. The manager at this place is extremely rude and needs to learn how to treat customers. My girlfriend bought cookies that were labeled parve because she has a dairy allergy. When she got home, she realized butter was listed as one of the ingredients and decided to drive 20 min back to the bakery to exchange the cookies for ones that were dairy free. The dairy free cookies were more money, $6 more to be exact, but since they were the ones who messed up, my girlfriend asked if they could cover the difference. The manager rolled her eyes and very rudely said "I'm not doing that" and just walked away. No apology, no trying to make the situation right, nothing. That's how you treat a customer? I had ordered a custom Frozen themed cake three weeks in advance. I was told their printer was not working at that time but that there should be no issues, and if I didn't hear from them all is good. Of course, they call me morning of my event to tell me the printer is not working. I want to begin by saying their manager or whoever this lady was--was so condescending and instead of understanding my frustration told me "well you know these things happen". My frustration was valid. If she was understanding and truly apologetic she would have listened and said you know what we're so sorry this is happening, etc etc. and honestly I wouldn't be as disappointed. Instead she goes on to say with frustration "I'm trying to help you" but giving me only one other option. She kept asking me if the other option was okay as if I had a choice. And I kept telling her it wasn't okay but that I didn't have a choice so would have to take the cake however they can offer it at this point. It was almost as if she was frustrated with me--that I wasn't just saying "yes it's okay". They eventually airbrushed the top of the cake which looked okay but not what I had paid for. I'm giving them two stars because the cake tasted good. As far as professionalism and customer service (which is a main reason I would go back to a place) they need to hire different people. Needless to say I will never go back to a place that doesn't know how to speak to their customers during the morning of an event for a situation that was ultimately their fault. If they knew their machine is glitchy they should have just been honest with me and told me hey by the way it may not work the morning of your event so let's have a plan B and save you the aggravation of a phone call the morning of your event. I am more upset that I was dealing with this while trying to coordinate with other vendors and getting my kids ready for the event. We just moved to the area and heard great things about this place but unfortunately we are disappointed. I was also told the owner would be notified of this situation and that I should hear from them. A decent business owner would have the courtesy to call the customer to apologize and discuss the matter. Would not recommend ordering a custom cake for a big event--seems like other Yelp reviewers had issues with custom cakes also. read more
