Alpine Pastry Shoppe has been a staple in my family for years--every holiday you can imagine and even for those random "just because" moments. A coworker recently asked me to bring back some cookies since she knew I was flying home to New York. When she said she wanted good quality cookies, I already knew exactly where I was headed: Alpine. Every time I walk into this place it somehow feels like the first time. Maybe it's the nostalgia from going there with my family for so many years, or maybe it's because it's still family-owned and truly has that warm, welcoming vibe. The people who work there are always so sweet, accommodating, and kind, which just adds to the experience. When anyone brings up rainbow cookies, Alpine is honestly the first place that comes to mind for me. They're the only ones I really go to for them. For my coworker, I picked up a pound of assorted cookies so she could try a little bit of everything. Selfishly, I was definitely thinking I should've ordered a box for myself too! Had to try the Rainbow Cookie Donut ! The anticipation was killing me. It is a bit pricey at $9.50 for its size but it was absolutely delightful . The inside Rainbow cookie is moist and dense. The chocolate outside was one of the best chocolate hardened glaze I have had in quite some time. **This is a weekend item** The inside is full of temptation. Sorry to leave such a poor review. On Super Bowl Sunday the line was out the door. It's a neighborhood place and on a "holiday" it's to be expected. I ordered some rainbow cookies and a Nutella cro-nut. My husband loved the rainbow cookies but my Nutella cro-nut was nothing but cream. It went in the garbage. The young lady helping me behind the counter was very friendly and very sweet and I'll tell it here just like I told her: the owners of this establishment are making a big mistake by making it public who they support politically. Yet another cake ordered and it was not what I asked for. I have come here on and off for 50 years because of the cake variety but the few times it was wrong I got nowhere. All I asked was for the cake to be redone and it was refused. So why do I bother this time? I ordered an expensive cannoli cake w HEAVY rum for Mother's Day. I was embarrassed because family and guests said the cake was dry and there was zero rum. I tasted a slice and it was dry. A small speck of rum at the center bottom of the cake. I will find another bakery. I spend a lot of money at bakeries so perhaps o find someone to take my money who can make a cake to order and not give me a hard time if they get it wrong. Honestly, it didn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I respect the owner for standing by his decision, even when some customers expressed outrage--I overheard one man in line saying he wouldn't return because of it. To me, it's just a cookie. I wouldn't be upset if they were selling Biden, Harris, or even Wallz cookies if that's what they chose to do. Some people are always going to be upset about something. I would give zero stars if I could. Girl behind the counter wasnnot very knowledgeable about items.She had to keep going in back room to ask questions. I bought a cannoli chipwich cake a a very small crumb cake maybe 9x9. It cost $62.00. I would say both items were stale. The cannoli cake was falling apart as I cut it. Crumb cake extremely dry and loaded with powdered sugar. I will not be going back to Alpine. read more

The best, for miles around. Great recipes, truly incredible variety of baked goods. Reasonable prices. Good ingredients. Not garbage ingredients. I would've given 5 stars but Alpine (to my knowledge) isn't offering lower sugar versions of the offerings. I'd LOVE to see some baked goods with Stevia in them...and not so much sugar. Not everyone can handle the high amounts of sugar in many baked goods (not just at Alpine). But on the positive side, great staff, quick service and they're a local business (keeps the money in the community, I feel). Alpine doesn't disappoint. read more

When you go somewhere twice on a trip, it must mean it's a very good thing. It's like heaven when you walk in there. The bakery has anything you could imagine in the way of a cookie, pastry, or cake. I could have got one of everything if it didn't have calories..lol! The kids had vanilla cake pops and I shared a cinnamon cannoli crois-nut with my husband. It was soooooo good! We ended up going back and got a few different kinds of pastries the next day to share with our family. There was a strawberries and champagne cake we split among all of us that everybody enjoyed as well. The staff and service was wonderful when we went both times. The service is terrible, always a line and the line moves very very slow. I went to place an order, stood on line for about 20 minutes, got to the counter and the lady who took me said you need to wait for the other lady since I don't take special orders, waited another 10 to 15 minutes before I could be helped. I placed my order and then a week later I picked it up, ordered 25 mini carrot cupcakes and several of these cupcakes were on its side so the presentation was not good at all. Will not be returning after years of going here. Disappointed with both the customer service and the presentation of my special order. Will find another bakery for my future occasions. read more

I came to this shop because it was highly recommended to me. I was looking for pastries for my sisters bridal shower. The lady up front was not friendly at all. She rushed me and kept saying "what else" instead of giving me a minute, it being my first time there. She grabbed the cupcakes and ruined their shape, threw them in the box instead of placing them in there so they wouldn't jam up against each other. Her hands were covered in the frosting, that the box is so dirty. Very disappointed as a first time visitor and I'm not sure I'd like to come back. read more

Be still my beating heart.... Alpine still has the cronuts that everyone still seems to obsess over. Alpine still has great baked goods and they never miss the mark. The reason for the 4 is sometimes they're too busy chatting with each other and not helping customers OR moving at a snail's pace around the bakery. Such is life and it's still a good bakery. Still the same look for god knows how long but still good bakery goods. If you need some pastries or Italian bread or a cake from a bakery look no further when you're in the area. read more

I've been going to this bakery for years. Everything is always fresh and the staff is always nice and very efficient. The cakes and cookies are excellent as is the jelly and glazed donuts. They also make fantastic Italian pastries in both large and small sizes. The bakery has 3 large counters to display everything as well as bread racks and an area for "breakfast stuff". The lines can be long at holiday times but you never have to wait as long as the line looks. read more

The variety of delicious pastries is unbelievable. If only I had more time on Long Island, I'd be 10 pounds heavier because I need to work my way through trying everything at least once! Of the items I tried; lobster tail, cannoli, Napoleon, black and white cookie and lemon coconut cupcake, the cannoli and lobster tail were the best! These items were so good that I hauled them back to Cali. The bakery sold me unfilled shells and put the filling in a pastry bag for me. I had planned to bring some goodies back so I packed a small cooler with ice packs for the plane ride. It worked out perfectly! The filling for the lobster tail was lusciously creamy which is our favorite. The cannoli filling is also perfect for us; not too sweet, a few chocolate chips and a hint of nutmeg. Maybe that's the spice? The cannoli shell was also nice and thin. If only I lived closer! read more

Okay, STOP THE PRESSES! Because their vanilla and chocolate funfetti cakes are some of my favorite birthday cakes EVER! They are the perfect blend of sweet and flavor, and taste as a birthday cake should. I also absolutely love that this bakery allows you to order cakes through Door Dash at a reasonable price and will even write on them through the instructions in the app. Definitely helps in a pinch! I do love this bakery, but trying to come during a busy time or even a moderately crowded time and it's incredibly chaotic in there. I had to score higher because the issue was corrected immediately. I ordered a cupcake cake which was made of 50 cupcakes, and I provided a photo. This cake was for a baby shower. When I arrived, the photo was the size of a postage stamp and the cake was not decorated at all, no flowers, no trim, no nothing. I was about to freak out. My memories of Alpine date back to when I was a kid. I can remember my mom bringing me here to order our special occasion cakes and bringing delicious baked goods (ie butter cookies, danishes, napoleons, lobster tails, chocolate eclairs, fresh made breads, etc.) With sweet fondness & mouth-watering anticipation, peering through the display cases with such an array of deliciousness really hasn't changed. With time, they've added new fan favorites (ie jelly-filled croissants, raspberry-filled crumb bars, specialty-themed cupcakes, etc.) The quality and goodness of Alpine has truly withstood the test of time. And despite moving a few towns over, I still make the trip for those special favorites that only Alpine makes the BEST and our special occasion cakes made exactly how we want them. read more
