    Greek omelette and Home Fries
    S R.

I always try to frequent the new businesses in town, so I stopped by Panepinto bakery but didn't realize it had restaurant pricing. The person at the counter was friendly and helpful. I ordered a Greek omelette to go. It came with a bagel or toast. The home fries were extra. $22+ yikes!!! The ingredients were not cooked into the omelette, simply folded over and the home fries were a mushy mess. I also ordered 3 mini pastries. They did not taste fresh. $8 for the three. I'm not sure how busy this place gets because I was the only one in there on a Sunday morning. On a positive note, it looks like there is plenty of seating. Well, I did my good deed for the week and patronized a new establishment. Now it's back to places that I really love where I can get good food at a decent price.

You need to come in here and have a cuppa coffee and a biscotti. They have a plethora of pastry offerings. They also have bagels so if you're in the mood to pick up a half a dozen, you can do that here. There is a full coffee menu, including lattes and cappuccino, and they also offer smoothies. The staff is super welcoming and there is plenty of seating, including outdoor seating with umbrellas. This bakery has great ambience. Everything was delicious.

Delicious cake. I know it was for a 3year olds birthday, he ate 2 pieces!

A coworker recently asked me to bring back some cookies since she knew I was flying home to New York. When she said she wanted good quality cookies, I already knew exactly where I was headed: Alpine. Every time I walk into this place it somehow feels like the first time. Maybe it's the nostalgia from going there with my family for so many years, or maybe it's because it's still family-owned and truly has that warm, welcoming vibe. The people who work there are always so sweet, accommodating, and kind, which just adds to the experience. When anyone brings up rainbow cookies, Alpine is honestly the first place that comes to mind for me. They're the only ones I really go to for them. For my coworker, I picked up a pound of assorted cookies so she could try a little bit of everything. Selfishly, I was definitely thinking I should've ordered a box for myself too! She absolutely loved them, which came as no surprise. If you want truly great Italian cookies and pastries, Alpine Pastry Shoppe is the only place that comes to mind for me. I'm so happy to see that they're still open, and I truly hope they remain a neighborhood staple for many years to come.

I was so enticed by the whimsical, atypical flavors and the bright saturated colors. I finally ordered the 5 pack and chose these flavors: 'Cotton Candy', 'Strawberry Crumb', 'Chocolate Banana', 'American Dreamsicle' and 'Italian Rainbow Cookie'. I loved the way each donut was wrapped in plastic and placed so intentionally in its packaging - a sleek gold-colored box with a sticker bearing her logo (a 'C' for Chana that doubles as a donut with purple frosting on it and sprinkles). My boyfriend and I did a "tasting" together trying small ¼ pieces of each flavor. The 'Cotton Candy' (pink frosting with swirls of blue) had a subtle cotton candy flavor but was very sweet, the 'Strawberry Crumb' (bright red) was tart, delicious and one of my favorites. The 'Rainbow Italian Cookie' (covered in tiny green, red & white sprinkles) tasted just like the real cookie; so enjoyable with a pronounced almond flavor. The 'American Deamsicle' (covered in blue, red & white round sprinkles) tasted like orange and was pretty good. My absolute favorite was the 'Chocolate Banana' (a striking yellow with brown swirls), which had a more tolerable sweetness than the others. Overall, I enjoyed the donuts: the taste, the uniqueness and the colors. My only feedback is that I would like the donuts less sweet, so it is easier to eat a whole donut. I would rate Chana's Donuts 3.8 out of 5 stars, and I would definitely order again to try new flavors, or to get the 'Chocolate Banana' or 'Strawberry Crumb' flavors again :)

However it's hit or miss purchasing Kaiser rolls. It's amazing how quickly they "sell" out by 11am while there are plenty of plain and sesame seed rolls left to purchase. Additionally the size of the rolls had gotten smaller while the price keeps increasing now $1.00 a roll half the size of a roll from other bakeries and deli's. Apple turnovers are very good but again expensive ( flour going up I guess). Staff always friendly and welcoming but I wish someone would run numbers on roll sales so there'd be some Kaiser rolls left to purchase. With an ideal location across the street from the St James train station, I can understand why doughnuts and muffins would be gone. Smart! We picked up eclairs, Napoleons, cream puffs and cannolis to go. The black and white cookie looked really good so we'll come back for that as I'm always on the hunt for the best. The cannoli is a small size and has a distinctive nutmeg flavor. I am not crazy about the green sprinkles though. Crunchy though. The eclair is filled with a custard and the chocolate was discolored. Not sure why. It was okay. I have had the Napoleon or cream puff yet so we will see how they hold up the next day. The store has a nice variety of goodies including decorated cakes, cookies and breads so please give them a try.

The artwork on the walls adds a personal touch and gives the café a relaxed, inspiring vibe. It's the kind of place that makes you want to open your laptop, sip your drink, and settle in for a productive afternoon. I ordered the sugar-free brown sugar latte, and it was absolutely fantastic. It had just the right balance of rich espresso flavor and smooth sweetness...not overly sugary, but still comforting and flavorful. You can tell they really care about the quality of their drinks here. The fact that they offer sugar-free options is such a thoughtful touch for those who want to enjoy something indulgent without all the sugar. They also offer dairy free alternatives. They also have a great selection of baked goods and pastries to go along with your coffee...everything from muffins and cookies to croissants and other treats that pair perfectly with their lattes and teas. It's nice to have something fresh and tasty on the side, especially if you're stopping in for breakfast or a mid-day snack. One of the things I love most about Sweetwaters is the seasonal menu. They have creative fall drinks that bring all the cozy flavors of the season; perfect for chilly mornings or afternoon pick-me-ups. It's clear the staff takes pride in keeping the menu interesting and fresh. The staff themselves deserve a special mention. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, upbeat, and genuinely kind. You can tell they enjoy being there, which adds so much to the overall experience. The music was also a fun surprise...hearing "The Time Warp" from The Rocky Horror Show while sipping my latte definitely made me smile, and the rest of the playlist kept the energy light and enjoyable without being distracting. Another bonus: there's a drive-thru, which makes it super convenient for busy mornings when you want great coffee without leaving your car. All in all, Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea in Smithtown checks every box -- delicious drinks, tasty baked goods, cozy atmosphere, great music, friendly service, and a creative environment. Whether you're looking for a comfortable place to do some work, meet up with friends, or just unwind with a great cup of coffee and a pastry, this café is a gem. Highly recommended!
