I was going to be stuck in Smithtown for a while, so I desperately needed coffee. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I came across Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea, and I'm so glad I did. I ordered the French Vietnamese Au Lait along with a sausage, egg, and cheese on a croissant. I never thought I'd wish I lived in Smithtown until that moment. The coffee was absolutely divine, and the breakfast sandwich was perfectly made. If you're someone who isn't used to drinking coffee, do yourself a favor and don't order the quad version and then wonder why you're awake all night! It's delicious, but it's packed with caffeine and definitely lives up to its name. The café itself is clean, cozy, and inviting. It's the perfect place to study, catch up on work, or curl up with a good book. I ended up pulling out my Kindle and finishing my book club read while I waited for Hobby Lobby to open, and it couldn't have been a better way to spend the morning. There's a small parking lot, but I had no trouble finding a spot. The restroom was also incredibly clean, which I always appreciate. The customer service was outstanding, and everyone made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. I'll definitely be making the trip back to Smithtown for another visit. I recently tried their seasonal drinks which were delicious. I recommend ordering their candy cane latte which is basically peppermint mocha. The espresso is strong, but I can still taste the flavors without it being too overpowering. This is a perfect spot to just come and chill. I typically come after church on Sundays, but if you wanna come study, relax, or just meet up with some friends - I highly recommend it. I love the art on the wall, and how they give credit to the artists and have an Instagram for you to go and view more of their work. If you're gonna come, definitely try anything on the menu. As a girl who likes her espresso mixed with other things, I think I've found my go-to place! I appreciate how there is a wide range of coffee drinks, from your classic lattes to cold brew drinks, and frapps to teas. They also have a drive through which makes it super convenient too! The French Viet au Lait featured a pretty strong viet coffee with sweet condensed milk. I appreciated how it wasn't too sweet and had a good balance between the coffee and milk. The Dirty Cold Brew packs a lot of caffeine but it sure tastes good! After combining cold brew and espresso, they also add in chocolate and a splash of cream. It almost tastes like a mocha but packed with more coffee. The paper straws here were surprisingly of good quality and stayed intact for a good several hours! The store itself was pretty quiet with a good amount of indoor and some outdoor seating. Lighting was good and walls actually feature various artwork (seems like for purchase). The tables were really clean with frequent outlets between them. I can definitely see myself getting some work/studying done here when I come back. Staff were also polite. read more

Always such a pleasure coming to this coffee shop. Everyone is so friendly, they make you feel warm and welcome. I have been coming here for several years since one of my son started going to The Little Gym few minutes away. Very kid friendly! Just stop here yet again on my way to the storage unit to get what I need to move up to our new house in Connecticut. I will be very sad to leave this wonderful place behind. Well hey there Sweetwaters coffee. What's this all about said my wife and I said to ourselves passing by. We pulled in looking to get our caffeine fix in for the evening, and was intrigued by this place. Not sure why we haven't noticed it before, but eager to try by happen chance as we were driving by. It's got a drive through; check plus there. But we went inside. Glad we did! Super relaxed, clean, and soooo glad it wasn't Starbucks. Noticed the local artwork which was really nice to see. Nice decor, inviting, plenty of seating. I kept it simple, got the house blend. One because I just wanted straight coffee, and two because I wanted to judge the coffee by itself as compared to yes Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts. I frequent D&D so I'm really comparing it to that. Not even close! Sweetwaters where have you been! Great cup of Java my good sir. Had the fresh brew going, temperature on point (yes that matters), wasn't weak, and not too strong. Got the right amount of bada bing! Wife got the Crème Caramel. I tried it, too sweet for my taste but right up her alley! And as such she's making her own comparisons to like coffees and she was very happy with the result. Saw a few board games on some shelving. Guess you got stuff to do if your planning on chillin for a bit. That's cool. Staff was nice, welcoming, and quick to get your order. They've got assorted Teas, bakery and pastry items which goes very nicely with your coffee and tea drinking pleasures. I'm glad I stumbled upon this place. I wouldn't hang out in a Starbucks. This is the first place that introduced me to iced Vietnamese café au lait. The drink is made with French Chicory (dark roast) coffee and sweetened condensed milk. Now I make it at home by using some of the one pound bag of ground French Chicory (dark roast) coffee that I purchased at the store. Sweetwaters sells its own brand of various coffee beans for $14.95 per one pound bag. Today I ordered a cup of iced cocoa cappuccino. It was good, but I do not like the drink as much as I do the iced Vietnamese café au lait. Baked goods are available for sale. My favorite is the coffee cake. The store has a drive through, which I seldom use because I prefer ordering in the store. The staff is friendly and prepares drinks at lightening speed. Customers can sign up for The Sweetwaters Club like I did and accumulate points with each purchase. I get a free drink on my birthday and coupons in my email. Free parking is available in an average-sized lot in front of the store. I definitely recommend this shop to coffee lovers. read more

It was both smooth and potent, the perfect combination. I opted for the drive thru for the convenience factor. (There was plenty of parking available on the property.) The menu was large & had enough description of each item. They had a small offering of breakfast food items & baked goods. What a beautiful coffee cafe! I usually take Edgewood road home so when I passed the Sweetwaters Coffee sign, I quickly pulled into the parking lot to try some java love. There is a drive thru but by not going inside you'll miss the beauty of the Sweetwaters Cafe. The walls are adorned with art from local artists. Also, there is a shiny, new espresso machine front and center. Walking to back, there are some very nice looking cakes and pastry on display (As well as the calories listed, 700 calories for a piece of chocolate cake?!) The menu board has all their coffee and tea drinks. They had something that looks really good, they take their cold brew and put it in a cup with chocolate syrup? That sounds deelish! Today, I want a cold drink with no sugar so I had a cold brew over ice. Sweetwaters Coffee makes a very good cold brew. There are lots of syrups to add to customise your coffee. This morning, I stopped in with my wife. They have a house blend brewing, I chose two house blends to go. Second time here and another tasty brew. Just a couple of things to point out about Sweetwaters Coffee. WiFi is free and available, ask the barista for the password. There is a loyal customer rewards, you enter your number on the ipad and it tallys up your purchase for a free beverage. It also knows to give you a free birthday coffee?? Since living a vegan life the taste is in the creamer... and half and half hasn't been in my life for decades...now my poison is Starbucks only only because I found Silks Soy Creamer plain )!well they do use silk vanilla soy plant based milk) As my new addiction....but SB is expensive and not all the worthy.... Just keeping it real, I've never had a great cup of drip-coffee here. Can't speak to all of the other offerings, I got a bakery item once and it looked way better than it tasted. Don't get me wrong, everything is fresh, the atmosphere is great, it's young and there's music and power outlets/USB charging everywhere, it seems like a great place to meet/collaborate/get some work done. Allow me to use my big words when I say, it has an eclectic menu filled with international varieties and coffeehouse staples. A pumpkin latte I actually adore, and a Thai Tea that kills a craving. I'm updating my review after giving this place a few months to iron out the kinks. After my first review, I was contacted by ownership and offered a chance to come in for a free drink to give them a second chance. I decided not to accept, waited a few months, then came back to ensure it was a fair review, no bias, no freebies, nothing. I'm happy to say that the coffee drink I got, the Dragon Eye, was MUCH better and exactly what I envisioned with the use of sweetened condensed milk. My son was with me and got a brownie from the case that was warmed up and out of this world. I decided to stay and my coffee was served in a real ceramic mug.....that enhances the flavor so much in my opinon, and it was delicious and worth every penny. Bonus....on my receipt, it said if I came back later that day for another drink during a specific time period, the drink would be half off. So guess what I did?? Yep, I came back and tried the cold brew coffee.....another winner!! Given that this place turned it around for me and I always see them promoting things in the community, live music, coffee with a Cop, etc, they get a revised rating from me of 5 stars!!
