Dinner at Kismet Coffee in Bay Shore tonight was absolutely delicious and completely exceeded expectations. While they're already well known for their excellent morning coffee, their dinner service deserves just as much attention. The confit chicken with truffle mash was outstanding--perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and incredibly comforting without being heavy. The truffle mash was silky and had the perfect amount of truffle without being overwhelming. The ox tail with polenta special was another highlight: rich, tender, and slow-cooked to perfection, with layers of flavor, kind of like short rib. It was my husband's first time having oxtail, and definitely not his last. The experience was made even better by the friendly, welcoming staff, who were attentive without being overbearing and made the evening feel relaxed and inviting. A huge bonus was their espresso martini menu, which can be made with decaf--a dream for anyone (like me) who's sensitive to caffeine at night but still wants to enjoy a great cocktail. They have events and live music most nights of the week and you can just hang at the bar if you prefer. Kismet Coffee is so much more than a morning stop. If you've only been there for coffee, you're seriously missing out. Do yourself a favor and check them out for dinner--it's a hidden gem in Bay Shore and absolutely worth the visit. read more

Did not try the food. Espresso was horrible. I could smell the bitter beans as they were being ground. Has any of these baristas tasted espresso at a good Italian restaurant? It's never bitter. Please buy a better bean and train your employees the finer points of making espresso shots! Sorry, but steaming a gallon of milk and throwing in a few terrible shots does not make a quality coffee drink. read more

This coffee shop has an amazing loyalty program because after 50 visits the baristas still won't know your name, smile at you, or pretend to enjoy being alive. Five stars for consistency though -- the attitude never misses. Today I committed the unforgivable crime of pressing "No Tip" on the iPad after already paying $7 for a latte, and I swear the barista took it as a personal declaration of war. The drink tasted like someone melted a cherry-scented Bath & Body Works candle into oat milk. At this point I'm not even asking for friendship. Service was ok but had to hear 3 times how booked and busy they were with an empty room. We were the only ones sitting at a table. 48 min later one table sat down. They took care of outgoing coffee orders first. Took 20 min to wait for decaf coffee only to be served in a paper cup. Food was not good. Eggs tasted like they were powdered. My friend tried this place for lunch and said such great things that we decided to try it for breakfast. Inside is very spacious and cute. They have a big bar and multiple tables and couches. I had the honeycomb latte and it was perfectly made. My friend had the sweet cream cold brew and she said it was good. I ordered the GOAT avocado toast, my son the egg sandwich and my friend had the same thing. I was shocked with how big the sandwich was. It was packed with eggs, cheese and bacon. A lot of potato's. All tasted very good. I saw they are open for lunch and dinner. They have cocktails to choose from all later in the day. I would definitely be back. read more

This place is so cute. I love their logo, and the red themed decor. I just wish it was bigger there were only 2 tables there. However, they are moving to a new location in September! So excited for that to see their new space! I just got a iced matcha latte. It was $5 for a medium and an extra $1 for non-dairy milk. After tasting it, I realized I liked my drink a little sweeter so I asked for some simple syrup and they kindly added some. I think the quality of their matcha is on the lower end, it has a dull green color instead of a bright green color leading to a bitter and not as clean of a taste. I was really excited to try Kismet Coffee because I have heard a lot about it! The inside is small but cute. I like how it connects to the winery next door. The barista was very friendly and helpful but I wasn't a huge fan of their coffee. I ordered the banana bread latte and unfortunately I didn't taste any banana or coffee, just milk. My mom ordered the same thing, however, hers tasted more like cinnamon. I just wish the coffee was a little more consistent. read more

Been to this place on 3 separate occasions. The first time the atmosphere was a bit awkward but the coffee was good so I decided to give it another shot. The second time I sat for 25 min without being helped. After trying to get the servers attention with no luck I left before even ordering. The third time I decided to order it to go to avoid any issues. I placed my order, went in 25 mins later for two coffees and two food items. I wait inside for about 10 minutes before being told they didn't have one of the items in my order. I asked for a refund and was told it was processed but I wouldn't received a receipt. A week later and I was still charged for an item I never received and unfortunately the food I did was not worth 43$. My order of the "creme brulee" cornbread. read more

Wanted to like this place but it ended up being mediocre at best. My friend and I ordered an iced coffee, a vanilla sweet cream cold brew, and a breakfast burrito to split. My coffee was good but her vanilla sweet cream cold brew was essentially a cup of milk (coffee and flavor nowhere to be found). The breakfast burrito was not as advertised. It was supposed to be a chorizo burrito with eggs, cheese, chorizo and potatoes. In reality, it was a ham and cheese burrito that was the quality level of airplane food. We didn't finish it. I have half a mind to give this place another shot but for a total of $25 for a bad burrito and only one drinkable coffee, I don't know if this place deserves a second chance. read more

Kismet Coffee is like a local's dream: the coffee is sourced from Flux, the tea from Serendipitea and their baked goods are made in house. Thankfully they opened up this new location because I had never gotten a chance to swing by Fire Island to try the original! This location is quite small but, based on another comment, there may be more seating in the wine space next door so keep an eye out. Service was super nice, and my seasonal cereal latte was absolutely amazing. The foam was velvety, the cereal taste prominent but not too sweet. I actually ended up swinging by again the same day to pick up a oat milk flat white and that too was equally delightful. Overall, I am upset that this place is so far from my home. Atmosphere, band, bar, and presentation of food was wonderful! Even the bartender checked on us. I think our waiter was feeling overwhelmed because he forgot about us in the corner a couple of times. My entree came out 20 minutes before my friends. I ordered a chicken dish and she ordered pasta. Just pasta and it took forever. I know that wasn't the kitchen. Either the waiter forgot to put in the order or it sat somewhere heated for a while. I mentioned to the bartender my food had gotten cold because we'd been waiting for my friend's dish and I mentioned the same thing to the boy filling water glasses bc our waiter stopped coming over. Other people were checking in on us. He came to bring the check and I would have *argued* it because he charged us full price for a mocktail. The mocktail was just chocolate and coffee. He billed us for the whole thing $18! For chocolate and coffee. I wanted to talk to him about that but it being Valentine's Day and my friend wanting to get out of there since we had gotten spotty service, I didn't. The food tasted good they just came out at really different times and mine was cold by the time hers came out. Also not deducted off the bill. It might have been a new waiter, not sure. I really wanted to like this place, but it missed the mark for me. The coffee wasn't hot, barely warm, and their "popular" honey coffee had an odd taste and so did the OJ. The avocado mousse toast had great bread, but the overall dish was just okay. The biggest disappointment was the egg sandwich. It was listed as having sausage, but what they served was chorizo. Chorizo is very different from standard breakfast sausage, and we definitely wouldn't have ordered it had we known. We took maybe two bites before setting it aside, and no one offered to adjust the bill or even check in after we barely touched it. For me, that's just not good service. Went for the first time yesterday and loved it! I tried the turmeric latte and was pleasantly surprised that it was not too sweet! I love my tea lattes and usually get them way too sweet at other cafes. You can always add sweetener, but you can't remove it. I really appreciate that the default at Kismet is less sugar My friend ordered Earl Grey tea and it came with loose tea leaves in a paper pouch/bag. She said it was delicious. And it's nice to get a cup of tea that I can't make at home with store-bought tea bags. We also tried two of the pastries: Nutella banana bread and a coconut-blueberry scone. Both scrumptious! Banana latte came lukewarm warm and no taste of banana or coffee lol the fried egg sandwich was delivered with a ton of potato's and the fried egg was like it was hard boiled the yoke was solid... staff never asked if I wanted it over easy? I was reluctant to visit here because of my lingering heartache that Roto Market was no longer - but two great things happened. A latte of the likes somewhere you get on vacation somewhere that knows coffee and you're really happy. I walked away sipping it in disbelief it was so good. And also I got the news that Roto Market is in construction down the road nearby. All is well in the world. My latte with chocolate and coconut was so good that I returned the next day like a crackhead at the door ten minutes before opening time and the poor manager felt so bad for me that he made it for me anyway. I was leaving work last Saturday afternoon and wanted to try a new coffee spot so I did a google search and found this place, had never heard of it before. Came by around 4 pm and it was not what I was expecting! It was teeny tiny, little hole in the wall place connected to a bar/restaurant. I'm not familiar with the area so I don't know what restaurant it was. There was only one table in there and I was bummed because I love a cozy coffee shop I can post up at and spend time reading or relaxing with a friend or whatever. But it is A-OK and this place can do whatever they want when they have coffee this darn good. The woman working behind the counter was a sweet angel. I ordered a small coffee to go (that's what I think the vibe of this place is, get a coffee and leave) and I noticed in the fridge after she pulled out the oat milk I asked for there was something called pistachio milk. WHAT!? I had so many questions. I asked about it, she showed me the carton and asked if I wanted a taste, heck yes I did. She poured me some in a little cup. I hate to use the word life changing, but that's what it felt like in the moment. Holy delicious. Coffee wasn't cheap but no quality coffee is these days so I paid what I expected to. Left and took a sip of the coffee, holy moly it was a-mazing. I am telling you, amazing. If you appreciate real coffee, this place is a must. It was smooth and perfect. I drink my coffee black or with a splash of oat milk, no sugar so I know good coffee and Kismet is GREAT coffee. I cannot wait to come back again! read more

12/10 coffee. I have had ALOT of coffee and I can say this is truly in the top 5. The drinks are a bit pricey but its justified given the size and the quality. I do wish they had more seating but the area is very adorable and the interior is so cute and cool. Definitely a new coffee favorite.
