I ordered a dozen doughnuts online the other day, for a variety. They make their doughnuts fresh as ordered. The inside is a cute little shop with little trinkets. You can buy with ducks on it or rubber duck as well. Be warned that the donuts on display our old donuts you do not eat them. The staff was super friendly and we're explaining their system to me, which was great. Although I am not that crazy of a fan of the donuts they have as they were a little too sweet. After years of getting dunkin donuts and then trying this, was mouth blowing ! Never knew donuts could taste this good. I am no longer getting donuts from dunkin after trying these. I must have tried at least 12 different donuts in one seating with my family. Every single one was good even the one with the bacon. They were still hot out the oven and each bite was so flavorful. I even treated my coworkers and they stated "best in the area" More mom and pop donut shops need to compete against dunkin as these were hella bomb ! the take out was still hella fresh too. I often buy DD for all of my business customers throughout LI, and I expense it with my company. Of course, one needs an itemized receipt for expense purposes--standard business practice. T is time I used the Hauppauge store. The donuts were great...my issue is SERVICE (from the owner no less). I usually order 2 dozen donuts plus 2 extra donuts (26 total, $54 + 2 donuts $6.50), for the office and myself. Simple. However, on this date (a Tuesday, which I have since found out is their promotional day), my itemized receipt made no sense at all: $10 + 6.50 = $73.50. Unfortunately for me, I didn't notice this until weeks later when I went to expense it. I called and explained my confusion w/the receipt and the owner had me text a pic of it to her. She then answered my text saying 4x10=40+6.50=46.50x.0876tax =4.07 +46.50=50.57, w/the subtotal based on the full half dozen price... (YEAH. What does that have to do w/what my receipt says?). The owner also said it's 'definitely confusing' but at least I got a great deal on a donut-sale say. Totally blowing me off. She immediately made light of it and said if her text msg was not sufficient proof for my company, I could give her phone number to my finance dept for her explanation (WHAT??!!). And she wouldn't let me get a sentence in--just interrupting and lecturing me about how she does business w/all kinds of businesspeople, blah, blah. I finally had to raise my voice a half-octave and interrupt: 'MISS, I called YOU for help, so can you please let me ask my questions?? It IS why I called you.' The outcome was, she had NO explanation or solution and could care less that the receipt should accurately reflect the price--even on a sale day. Everywhere else can furnish a legit receipt, why can't you? And SO unprofessional, like it was cute and amusing. Well, she won't have to worry about me or my team moving forward. I always thought of donuts as either that very light type most places make the regular glazed from, or the really heavy cake kind, like a traditional Dunkin Donut. Duck Donuts finds just the right mixture of texture, with a light and fluffy cake donut. (There's no actual Duck in the donuts. I know I'll see that question come up on Yelp soon.) Alot of great flavors and they're all made fresh in front of you. Nothing is sitting around. That's the best part. Overall it's a great spot for donuts. I did even try just the plain donut, and it was really good. While the base donut is always the same, the toppings all seem to be very sweet and a bit overwhelming to me. They have a bunch of different donut flavors to choose from, and they just add different toppings to the same donut base. They have both pre-set and create your own flavors -I got a pre-set flavor and it was delicious. They have new hours during the pandemic so check before going (forgot to take the picture of the store hours -- think it is 9AM-4PM). The store is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Make sure you wear a mask, since it's a requirement. You can call in your order, takeout or curbside pickup. We walked in and there were customers waiting for their orders. After checking that they ordered, we walk toward the back to look at their menu. They serve breakfast sandwiches, drinks, shakes and sundaes. We decided on the maple bacon and raspberry lemon drizzle donuts. The coating is overflowing from the donut that it spills onto the box. Mary, who is this location's business manager, let me take a picture of my treat (apparently I am not the only one who asked to do that). You have to eat the donuts while it's warm. We dig into the maple bacon first, which was still warm. It isn't too sweet and the bacon provided a nice balance to the donut. The donut isn't airy nor cakey. It is delicious. As for the raspberry lemon drizzle, it is good though a bit sweet for my taste. I have to try the other flavors next time I am there. Enjoy! read more

Overpowering with the chocolate glaze so I couldn't taste the other elements of a s'more. PB Fudge (PB Glaze, Chocolate Fudge Drizzle) - All peanut butter. If you like peanut butter, then you will like this! It does have the texture as if they just melted the peanut butter and poured it on the doughnut. This coats the back of your throat like true PB does. Sundae (Vanilla Glaze, Chocolate Drizzle, Rainbow Sprinkles) - Nice texture. The sprinkles add a nice crunch of a texture to the lush doughnut. I would absolutely get this one again. Paradise (Vanilla Glaze, Cinnamon and Sugar Sprinkle) - Simple. Sometimes simple is truly the best. Nothing is too overpowering and he subtle sprinkling of cinnamon and sugar reminded me of a cinnamon roll. If I could only have one doughnut, this would be the one. I checked out this place the moment it opened up. I'm really glad it is right next to my house so I can stop by to pick up snacks for parties or work. The shop is very quaint and decorated with beach items and rubber ducks. They also have a lot of merch for sale if you are interested. One of my favorite aspects is the donut machine that they have displayed behind the counter which shows customers how the donuts are made fresh every day. I've had Duck Donuts bookmarked for quite some time. I finally decided to stop in today, on National Donut Day. While it was crowded, the line moved fairly quickly! I had never been, and neither was the small group I was with. We had time to look over the menu to decide what we wanted. I went with the French toast donut. It was super delicious! Mmm. Other donuts ordered in my group were two create your owns and beach ball. All were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone! I feel the best thing here is that all donuts are made to order! With that being said everything was very fresh tasting. It's also cool to see the workers hand making each donut with frosting, glaze, toppings and drizzles. The process is all handmade and custom made. Biting into that warm donut was like heaven. One of the people in my group stated after her first bite, "Dunkin ain't got sh*t on them!" Duck Donuts, where have you been all my life? Better yet, why haven't you opened a location right next to my house? Actually that wouldn't end too well for me because I probably would end up looking like a plump waterfowl after a few weeks. It's just now that I've tasted the glory of a Duck Donut, I need more. More! Sorry, I'll calm down. Though there seriously is something magical about these little doughy wonders. I don't care if this place is a chain found all over because it puts serious shame to the donuts of Dunkin' (maybe that's why they changed their name!). There are some other places doing similar things (Doughology for one), but currently, Duck Donuts has my heart. The key to the success of Duck Donuts has got to be two factors: freshness and originality. Let's start with the fresh factor. When you stroll into this sole LI spot, you'll quickly understand that this isn't a place where donuts sit out and you pick them from a glass display. Nope, the only glass window you'll see is the one that shows off the donut maker, popping them out nice and hot right then and there. So when you order your donuts, you're getting them made at that moment. The word stale does not exist here! Once you notice this freshness, it's time to dissect the menu, which is where the other factor comes into play with originality. Well, it's a few different words because Duck Donuts is not the first food establishment to give you a choice in what you want (and maybe not even the first Donut place), but it's the first time I've been given the ability to choose so many different toppings (and icings!). The amount of choices and combinations seem almost endless. They can't be listed, but just know you'll be blown away by the options. When I came in with my girlfriend, we had done a little homework in advance to be sure we had a basic idea of what donuts we wanted to devour. The friendly employee took our order as we went with a few of their featured donuts as well as a couple of original ones (which were actually requested from my parents). Things like peanut butter, blueberry, and key lime icing were just some of the wonders that laced our selections. When they were all finished being concocted (which you can also watch), the employee showed us the donuts and asked if everything looked good. Wow. I mean, you could easily just put a cover on the box and hand it off, but DD shows some high level of hospitality by ensuring that you're getting the Donuts that you ordered the way you wanted them. Right on! As previously mentioned, these suckers are served hot (or warm rather) for what is probably meant to be (almost) immediate consumption. Unfortunately, the day we ordered up these donuts, we had dinner plans right after so we weren't going to be able to chow down on any of our beauties for a few hours after our order. But wait! Duck Donuts gets the idea that you might not be able to eat your donuts right away. Conveniently located on the side of the box is a quick note that tells you that you can heat up your donut (microwave style) for a few seconds to get it back to that warm level. So despite not having them super fresh, they were still out of this world. Light and not overly rich with each ingredient adding to the donut flavor. Just incredibly tasty stuff. Overall, Duck Donuts is a welcomed addition into the land of dough (which isn't even that vast to begin with). They have a strong hold on the idea of a donut (and hey, they have coffee too which is something I'll have to try some time). All of that just shows you how Duck Donuts wins on every level. Quality, originality, freshness, tastiness, uniqueness, other words that end with "ess." The only downer about the place is its distance from my abode making it something I can't divulge in too often. I'll stand by that being a positive just because I don't want to end up gaining extra pounds in these sweets alone...though if the powers that be are looking to open another Duck Donuts some time soon, I wouldn't be opposed to a New Hyde Park location. These donuts are serious!!!! So much flavor packed into one little donut! I could've sworn I saw posts on Facebook with a mint chocolate chip one but I did not see that option on their menu. Duck Donuts may be a franchise, but these donuts are literal hot little cakes of heaven. The idea of this place is a little gimmicky but it works. Fresh donuts that are made to order. You place the order and next thing you know, the dough is being plopped into oil and ready to be topped with almost anything you can think of. They have quite a few "favorites" that you can pick from, or you can make your own with whatever toppings they have. I'm a big fan of the blueberry pancake, while my mom fell in love with the bacon in the sun.
