I was happy to see that 21 Main became something else because I always liked the building. The ambience is beautiful and I love a restaurant where you feel like you're walking into somebody's beautiful home. When I arrived, it was a lbit busy as it was lunchtime on a Friday. I thought to myself oh great, because that usually means the service suffers but that didn't hinder the service at all! The waitress was very attentive! ordered a plain cheeseburger, a glass of wine and an iced tea. When my food came out, I asked for an extra glass of water because I have swallowing issues with certain foods and without asking she brought me over a carafe of water! He was able to eat most of it. The home fries were nicely prepared and seasoned well! Our drink glasses were never empty. I watched the staff and they were constantly engaging with customers. You felt like you were visiting a friend's home. I watched them celebrate someone's birthday, greet regular customers and every customer was given a warm acknowledgment. Everything was fresh and tasty, and the Espresso Martini definitely packed a punch! I got there a bit after 8am on a Tuesday morning and about the half the tables were filled with a mix of families, working people and I'm guessing a few retirees. Many must be regulars since they were greeted by name. I sat at the counter so as not to take the only remaining table for two that was available. I was greeted immediately and given a regular menu and a specials menu. A cup of coffee almost magically appeared and I have to say it was one of the best cups of restaurant coffee I've ever had! They have an extensive menu, everything from pancakes to waffles, eggs in every iteration you can imagine, to oatmeal! I decided on a spinach/mushroom/onion omelet with home fries a side of bacon and rye toast. You choose omelets come with one filling, additional are $1 each. The omelet was good but was helped by some salt & pepper. The home fries were tasty with just the right amount of onion but the bacon was overcooked for my taste though I know many people like theirs extra crispy. There were two waitresses and they both were friendly and attentive. By the time I was ready to leave every table was taken but there were still seats at the counter. Now I know why the parking lot is almost always full, especially on the weekend. If you are looking for Home Town restaurant with good food & great coffee this is the place for you!
