She informed me that these bagels are a staple and are made differently in NYC, specifically with the special water and the technique of boiling them first before baking. ​I got the Everything Bagel with the non-dairy veggie cream cheese, and it was absolutely amazing. The bagel itself was perfectly chewy and soft--exactly what I was told to look for! The non-dairy veggie cream cheese was the best; so flavorful and rich, it paired perfectly with the bagel. I also tried the Hal's Dill Pickle flavored kettle chips with it, and it was the best, most satisfying combo! ​The ambiance is exactly what you want from a great bagel spot: very casual, with a quick and efficient process to order and get your food. Bagel Boss is a franchise operation and for that reason they usually get the same type of review. They have a formula and it works well. There major change this year is that some of the stores went non-kosher. Same great bagels and staff. If the area could not maintain a kosher clientele, they changed. From a business point of view... it was a good move. This Bagel Boss gets a five+ star rating hands down. Located right on Merrick Road in Merrick, it is a very easy in and out with plenty of parking...even during the busy periods. This is a large location with plenty of seating and plenty of all different kinds of foods. The store is clean and inviting to sit and dine at. I stop by BB often when I'm in the mood for a GOOD bagel and coffee. Reasonable pricing for their portion size and quality of food. They were having a special on desserts (by one get one free, (higher price prevails) which is a GREAT deal. Since I'm usually here just for a [cream cheese] bagel and coffee I just watched a few people picking up some lunch. This was some good looking food. The teams at BB are always friendly and helpful. I ordered a slice of spinach quiche. All it had was a bunch of what seemed like thawed out spinach piled on a premade crust, with a little cheese on top. i couldn't find any cooked egg custard which is the main ingedient quiche. Lame. The bagel was fine though. read more

For the sole attribute that they have so many vegan and non meat options, the Bagel Boss is IT. I can get a whole wheat everything with scallion tofu CC and all is right in the world for at least a morning (especially a morning after a night of drinking). The staff is wonderful. Everyone is nice and they work the line quickly. You'll be in and out even with a long line. The sticker shock, though. A bagel and tofu CC is a little over 6 bucks. What? When did that happen? I was told that I can only get a gift card from the owner who won't be in until 930. I called later to see if I could get one and pick it up in the morning. To a New Yorker, bagels are a very personal thing. While they all might look similar, they are vastly different. I like my bagels crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Bagel boss always delivers. Ask for a well done bagel, they have it. Other places give you a bagel that looks like it hasn't been cooked yet. Their flats are delicious. Sunflower has tons of seeds. Onion is covered with delicious crunchy onion. They have a great selection of cream cheese too including tofu cream cheese. The staff is super fast and friendly as well. THEY DONT POST prices , I GOT OVERCHARGED for a breakfast wrap, it was about $11.50 online (I had to look online for the price) and I asked for added cheese which should be at most $2, and was told after it was cooked that is was $18 and change, $18.50 is way above the standard price in the area for 2 eggs some vegetables and feta cheese on a take out wrap. read more

Purchased a plain bagel with bacon and cheese. The bacon wasn't real bacon and the who thing had a really strong bad chemical odor, like it was cooked in plastic. I just called to complain and the man I was speaking with could not discern I was not done speaking and spoke as I was speaking. I informed him I wasn't done and when I finished, just as I thought even though it wasn't clear what he was saying when he spoke while I was still speaking, he didn't immediately profusely apologized. Honestly walking into this place my initial response was wow its beautiful in here and tons of selections and everything seemed fresh. That was about to change. Me and my girlfriend decided on salads and saw on there menu they had 2 sizes small and large. I asked the server what constitutes a large since they only had 1 size out for lettuce leaves you could choose from to create your own salad. I asked her do you just take 2 for a large and she said yes. I immediately thought wow what a great deal and started telling her my selections to put in my salad. After I gave my selections the lady started just dumping in tons of vegetables and I thought man we should have just gotten 1 salad these things are massive. I didn't approve of how fine she was chopping everything together but when in Rome so I didn't say anything. I topped my salad with balsamic vinagerette and my gf topped hers with raspberry vinagerette. She got a small bag of rice chips and a medium iced coffee as well and I got a large iced tea. I also got an everything whole wheat bagel with scallion cream cheese, mostly cause they don't serve meat here being kosher and I wanted something little thicker than just a salad. So 2 salads which I'm thinking are on the menu as a large for 7.99 each. an iced tea and coffee. A very small bag of chips, a banana and a bagel the total came out to 42.50!!!! Not even any meat on anything. I asked the girl how did that happen and her response was we made each salad doubles because we took two things of leaves and they really only have one size which is a large. First off the so called large is a tiny pre made thing that I wouldn't pay 4 bucks for let alone 8. Secondly I asked her what a large salad consists of and she never said it would be double to do what I asked of taking to servings of the lettuce to make a large. If she would have told me from the get go I would have done what I was thinking about originally and went to 5 guys next door. Not wanting to make a scene I paid grudgingly for the food and left. I ordered a pumpernickel bagel with scallion cream cheese and lox. The bagels were fairly priced, and the service was quick. I didn't like that a single bagel came as a platter rather than a stand alone sandwich. The bagel was crispy, airy, and fresh. It was very light in color compared to other pumpernickels. The funnel seeds didn't stand out much. It tasted and looked more like a rye bagel. No complaints about the cream cheese. I was dissatisfied that the lox was not freshly sliced and that there was only a meager amount. read more

This location is well place on a main roadways so it's very easy to find it. It has a very large parking lot, so you won't have trouble finding a parking space. I would like handicap parking closer to the store, right in front. I didn't see any close by when I went there... The outside is nice and new. The inside is very clean and new as well. I love that they have all of these pre made salads, drinks, yogurts, sandwich's, and specialized cream cheese. A lot of places don't have these options if your on the go and need something quick. You can have a bagel shop in your own fridge at home. The food wasn't that tasty, it was actually kind of bland. But they give you a lot of food and don't skimp at all. They also have so many options compared to everyone else. That's, amazing it's the best. The customer service is good too and the staff is smart. Not a bad experience at all.
