I went for the Super Beef Hero, a roast beef sandwich piled onto garlic bread with melted mozzarella. The sandwich was satisfying, but the price was hard to justify. What makes it more frustrating is that prices aren't posted until you pay. If they change often, a digital menu would be an easy fix. Like many Long Island delis, Smith Street Deli is spotless but undeniably pricey. It's a fun treat before the beach though I wouldn't make it a regular stop. Stopped by Smith st deli to try some bagels. I dieted a tuna on whole wheat bagel and croissant with egg, bacon and cheese. The wheat bagel was tough and the tuna was flavorless. Didn't finish. The croissant was okay but the bacon was undercooked. Overall customer service was acceptable. Pricing was on the high side for what was purchased. Don't mind paying any price if the food warrants it. Unfortunately I cannot recommend based on this experience. read more

I have been to smith street deli about 6 times now. Every time it is consistently great. The staff are warm and friendly and service is great. They have a great selection on packaged products and seating to eat in. The sandwiches are awesome. I have gotten the garbage pail and the extra hero. The chicken wasn't dry, which is the worst. The bread was fresh. It was exactly what you would want and they made it quickly. The staff was friendly and professional. I've been working in the area and this Deli makes it convenient for me to park the truck & grab something to eat. A solid 3.5 stars but I'm rounding up to 4 for variety. I've been here several times and the service is good. It's a super clean deli & the location is odd but it works. It's in a residential area next to a gas station. The best thing I've had so far has been the breakfast sandwich. I wasn't impressed with the BLT or the Cuban. They were decent just not the best I've had. For breakfast their signature smith street wrap is great and all their homemade muffins are also awesome. Lunch wise they have a ton of sandwich board ideas along with fresh chopped salads, premade wraps, and tons of cold salads. My favorite salads are their Waldorf salad and chicken cranberry. I went in on 8/27 with my daughter who is 8 months pregnant. We ordered 3 wraps and 2 of them were on a gluten wrap and the other needed a certain cheese. The woman who took our order seemed confused. We tried to explain as she wrote on her paper the information. This is not the first time my daughter has gone in there with special dietary request and never had an issue, so this was off to a bad start. The woman dissapeared to the back. After 35 minutes we are asking for our order and noone knew anything. The woman never reappeared and the coworkers just covering up for her. When we realized this was a disaster we left. Customer Service was awful and my poor daughter was in tears. The owner needs to speak to their staff about customer services. read more

The Balsamic Griller nothing near balsamic at all. It was bland. Chicken breast was too thick of pieces (or lumps) for pre-sliced (thin) bread. Mozzarella slice was too thin to compliment the taste and balsamic (!) pesto was just spread thin (lik mayo in McDonald's burger) that almost only the name of it was there. The menu reads: "BALSAMIC GRILLER: Balsamic Marinated Chicken Breast, Fresh Sliced Mozzarella Cheese, Roasted Red Peppers, and Balsamic Pesto." The specialty lunch sandwiches are fantastic, which is the main reason this place gets the 3 stars. Breakfast is a letdown if you're not getting a garbage can. Sausage egg and cheese on a hero is basically egg and cheese with sausage flavoring. If you get extra sausage, you'll receive about as much sausage as every other deli puts on a roll. read more
