I went to my favorite açaí place, Playa Bowl! Today, they had $5 off açaí bowls for the national Açaí day, so I visited with my family. Since we always get their Pitaya or Green bowls, this was our first time trying their açaí based bowl. I decided to try their Nutella açaí bowl, which comes with strawberry, banana, and Nutella spread. Since I love blueberries, they let me swap the strawberry for blueberry which was nice. I could also choose a second base, so I picked their banana base, which I don't usually see at other places. My family got their Tropical bowl, which comes with pineapple, banana, and honey. The server was nice, and they made our açaí bowls quickly, neat and nice! What I love about Playa Bowl is that their base tastes amazing and is creamy, and the portion of fruit is great! They're usually around $16, which is a little expensive compared to other places, but it's definitely worth it. They have so many varieties of bowls with different kinds of base, the acai, Pitaya, green and banana. They also sometimes have seasonal bowl, which right now is the strawberry based bowl :) so you can try different ones each time you visit and find your favorite! My favorite so far is the Electric Mermaid, which comes with pineapple, mango, and kiwi on a Pitaya base. This location was great, nice and quiet, not crowded. While in the mood for something delicious but healthy, I found this Playa Bowls location via my handy dandy Yelp app. It was only 15 minutes drive away so I quickly got directions and headed there. I'm so glad I did because as soon as I ordered, the line was nearly at the door. The word must be out about Playa Bowls.. which is a good thing! I picked up the booster bowl, which contains banana, peanut butter, vanilla protein, flax oil, spirulina & cashew milk. It's topped with blueberry flax granola, banana, chia seeds, and finally, my favorite.. .peanut butter. It was absolutely amazing. Next time I might add some honey but honestly, it was pretty much perfect as is. I really love how Playa Bowls leaves you feeling quite satiated but not overly full. Out of all the acai spots across the Island, I think it's safe to say they are my favorite. read more

I've visited playa bowl about 5 times at this location and have also visited other playa bowl locations and açaí establishments, and overall this location is one of my favorites. Quick service, adequate seating and comforting atmosphere combined with consistent product are a couple of the key reasons why. Slightly above price and somewhat standard quality of ingredients are the only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars. read more

**Do Not Order**Absolutely awful practices. Twice when ordering from them I've received smoothies that gave me a horrible stomachache after taking only a few sips. I realized from the gross slimy texture they had put unripe banana in the smoothie. When I called them and confronted them they actually admitted they'd run out of ripe bananas. Why in the world would you not call a customer and give them a chance to change or cancel their order? Instead you'll just feed people unripe fruit that can make them sick??? Not to mention these are 15.00 smoothies. I'll NEVER subject my family to their products again. BUYER BEWARE. read more

Poor customer service all around, asked for a manager and was told there is no manager present. Asked the employee for their name they say they didn't need to give me their name. You can see it's children running the establishment which is why those same kids close shop earlier than they are supposed and tell customers they ran out of product at 7:50 and that it's 10 min before closing that they will not make more than 5 bowls. Mobile orders are priority according to the staff there. It's just a disappointing experience all around. This place is nothing like the other locations I been to in Jersey or Lawrence. read more

I always used to go to this playa bowls location but the past few times I've been here the customer service has been horrible. I came to pick up an order I made ahead of time and after the girl came out of the back room, she didn't even greet me. I had to ask for my order and she threw my bag on the counter and walked away, no words spoken by her. Came back one more time and the girls in there still had poor attitudes. For the price I'm spending on the açaí bowl, I would expect the service to be better. read more

This is my second time ordering from here and I love the menu. I've had a bunch of smoothies some juices and a couple of açai bowls. The selection is amazing and the service was great. I do wish they'd have a bigger selection of juices without simple syrup because simple syrup isn't my idea of healthy but nonetheless I'll be back. Very cute place and good acai bowl, but unfortunately I will not be returning because of the lack of respect shown by the workers not wearing masks. In the food service industry, cleanliness and food safety should be a number one priority. Last time I checked, masks are mandated in New York state amidst this highly contagious Omicron variant. I stopped off at Playa bowls in Merrick and had a wonderful experience. The girl who help me was so nice, she made a wonderful bowl. I would recommend this place to anyone especially the girl that helped me Amanda, because she was just a fantastic worker who cares.
