Ah Madison's. I used to be a huge fan of Madison's when it first opened in Bellmore back in high school. I just started recently going to the new location in Wantagh and haven't had any bad experiences until yesterday. I wouldn't even call it bad, just somewhat odd? My boyfriend and I stopped to order some food after the beach, and as we were about to order, the lady behind the counter said that they are technically closed for labor day at 1 pm (I think it was 1:45 at this point). She said that she was waiting for the group of customers sitting at a table to leave even though she had told them the place was now closed. She said the cafe was only still open because they were there, and that we can still order smoothies and the pastries, just not food. We were just confused as to why she couldn't lock the doors from the inside and kind of felt bad/weird ordering anything so we went somewhere else. We appreciated her being still somewhat open past the closing time to accommodate some customers but we wanted a nice place to sit down and enjoy a quick meal. I will probably be back as I like their food, smoothies, and free popcorn. Just thought that encounter was a bit strange! I love this place and had been going here since before they moved to this new location. We've since moved out of the state, but every tine we visit family, I make it a point to stop here. In the mornings I get the egg sandwich with Swiss and vegetables. My wife used to get the egg sandwich how she liked it, but now gets the açaí bowl. The Larissa's secret shake is really good too. If we come for lunch, we always like to try new things. I'm quite often weary of places that have this much to offer in terms of variety because that no restaurant can be good at that many items. Wow! What a surprise this place was! After joking about their sign in the window advertising world's best egg sandwich I just had to try them out and I am so happy I did. They have a really great sandwich and it's also the best deal. $4 here gets you a perfect bacon, egg and cheese served with a crispy hash brown patty and a choice of coffee, tea, or juice!!! I went into this Madison's Smoothie Café in Wantagh. The man with lovely gray blue eyes was my server. He did have to ask the woman there what things were. I saw a list of smoothies with School Names and decided upon a Wantagh Warrior which has lots of very sweet mix of peach, mango, and orange. I found out it is served in a 24 oz. cup and he was kind to separate it to two 12 inch cups. The lady even added a couple of pretty little paper umbrellas. I also ordered a quesadilla. It comes with 3 cheeses and is put in a wrap in the oven (I believe it is an air fryer or conventional) which melts it together. It was like a light grill cheese sandwich slice. There were four cut and placed in a pizza box. The Pepper Jack cheese has a nice tiny bit of extra flavor in it and the man had asked me if it was for me, noting for children he uses American cheese as the third choice instead. It was on a bit of higher cost than a few other places I have gone. Though everything seemed fresh made and the place seemed clean. The menu seems pretty extensive with varieties of things to choose from. I was given a black and white copy from here along with a color copy of another owned store in Southgate called Crostini a Pizzeria and Restaurant, showing coupons and noting "Little Place Big Taste!" The drink was very sweet but tasty and the Quesadilla was light and filling. A place I might visit again should I be in the area; along with one future reference to look for in Southgate. read more

The quality of Madison's has significantly declined since they opened. The store feels dingy and behind the counter does not look clean. Even the smoothie blenders were questionable. They don't have as much of a selection, although now I'd hesitate to buy food there. And for the smoothies it seems like they don't really use fresh fruit anymore. I had not had a wrap in a long time and my coworker was craving a smoothie, so we went to Madison's. I vaguely recall enjoying my smoothie the last time. We were going to order to take out. When we arrived, only one woman was working behind the counter, and she was engaged in a very involved conversation with a customer she either was friends with or related to. As she chatted it up with the customer and slowly put together her acai bowl, we considered leaving as we and the dad and son who came in after us were ignored for some time. We decided to stick it out since we were already there. The place has some seating to eat in, with an extensive smoothie menu. As she was finishing up that person's order, she took my coworker's smoothie order, which was the orange cream that was supposed to have "ripe oranges" and nonfat yogurt, and my order, which was for a BBQ chicken wrap with grilled chicken, mozzarella, BBQ sauce and pineapple. I was especially looking forward to the pineapple as that set the wrap apart from typical deli fare. The smoothie was over 5 dollars and the wrap was nearly 7 dollars. The woman working moved super quick making our orders. I did not see her put my wrap together but I saw her package it. We watched her look over the blender for my coworker's smoothie, which clearly lacked yogurt and ripe oranges and was very liquid, like only orange juice. After being handed our orders, she again chatted with her friend before we could finally check out. My coworker was super disappointed in her smoothie that really became just a frozen chunk of orange-colored ice with no fruit at all and no yogurt texture or taste. She could not finish it. When I opened my wrap, I was happy to see well-melted mozz and a generous portion of chicken in a thin but full whole wheat wrap. However, the chicken was drenched in the BBQ sauce and no pieces of pineapple were to be found. I had to suck on some lozenges afterwards to get the overwhelming BBQ sauce taste out of my mouth. Very disappointed. Unfortunately I do not believe we will give this place a return visit. read more

I loveee the sunrise surprise smoothie. I got two egg sandwiches today one with turkey and one with bacon, both with cheese. I liked it better than the two delis nearby. We really like this place. Fun to have self service yogurt and toppings. Staff is always friendly. My only complaint is the music is way too loud. Honestly, when this place was closer to the high school I loved it so much more I feel like they aren't giving it as much effort now unless it was just the night I went but the two kids behind the counter were talking to each other about their night and how they couldn't wait to leave and texting. Worst customer service ever. I walked in with my husband and two babies and we waited patiently for the woman behind the counter to take our order. She didnt acknowledge us as all, not even when we walked in. She just continued having a conversation with the man in front of me about a bunch of different topics and we were totally ignored for 15 minutes. I am a loyal customer to Madison's. However, I had an awful experience about two weeks ago. I was in a rush, I ordered ONE smoothie and it took about 20 minutes to come out. The place was empty, so I really can't understand why my already blended smoothie was sitting in the blender for about 5 minutes before the owner of the store even attempted to put it in a cup. When she poured it into my cup, some of it spilt onto the counter and she proceeded to sweep the excess smoothie from the COUNTER into my cup. I just moved to the area and went to tropical smoothie cafe and their meal combos were $10 each so I called Madison's to see if they had a better combo I also saw free popcorn and I love popcorn. No one picked up the phone the 2 different times so I drove over 15 minutes out of my way thinking it would be a better price at least than tropical smoothie and I'd get free popcorn! I've been coming for the breakfast special for years now. Great breakfast for a great price. Recently I've added a Sunrise Supreme Smoothie to have for Lunch. Its a nice tasty and healthy treat. The owners and staff have been great. Jill, Mike, and Jessica have always treated me like best friends. To top it all off, they have great promotions. Every so often with the promotions, I end up with a free breakfast or free smoothie. In the store, Madison smoothie cafe has good service. When they deliver however, it could not be worse. Not only did they mess up my order, they also came to the wrong place and got mad at me when they couldn't find us. When the food finally came after 20 minutes of waiting, we payed and the lady took our money without offering any change when we had given almost double the amount asked for. i've been coming here for years, since before they relocated in wantagh. ever since they moved, they seem to not be putting in the same effort. it could have just been the time i was there, but they seemed too stressed out to be effective and were very half a**ed at doing their job. granted it seemed to be during a rush, but when making smoothies i saw one of the workers left a big glob of peanut butter inside one of the pitchers; a big enough glob that i saw it from behind the counter, and then stacked the pitchers up inside of one another. that can easily go from the inside of that one, to the outside then inside of others.
