Classic old skool deli, plenty of staff to handle your order. Got chicken cutlet classic, as good a chicken hero I've had in a long long time. Godfather is a solid Italian hero. The chicken cutlets here are 10/10. They are very crispy and not over breaded. Freds also gives you huge portions for a great price. The chicken cutlet classic came with so much bacon I even took some off and had it on the side. The bacon was crispy and not fatty. This sandwhich is a must try. We got the knish which was perfectly cooked on the outside with a warm potato center. Also got a chicken cutlet on a roll with lettuce and mayo which was good. The service was decent, a lot of young kids as is often seen at a deli. We called in our order and it was made upon arrival. Every time I'm in Levittown, I always get something from Fred's. Everything I've ever had here is delicious. They are known for their egg breakfast sandwiches and lines are out the door in the morning! I've also had many of their assorted salads. My personal fave is the tri-color pasta salad. I grew up with Fred's deli and was always delighted to go. Today, I went because my mother is on a fixed income and in light of the pandemic, she had received a gift certificate to Fred's from the Kiwanis Club at Wisdom Lane Middle School. I wish they would have spent their money on a more deserving local business. I ordered 1 lb of Roast Beef and a 1/2 lb of American cheese, knowing the total would come to around $20 (the value of the gift certificate). When the woman who took my order (very pleasantly) began to ring me up it was $16.09 for the roast beef ($13.99/lb) and over $9 for the cheese ($8.99/lb). I asked why the RB was $16 and another gentleman (very nice, very tall) said "Oh, she went over, I can fix that." So far, the customer service seemed good. Then I asked why the cheese was $9 and she said that was the price for a pound. I said "I preferred half." She replied "No, you ordered a pound." Never tel the customer what they ordered. If she had said "I'm sorry, I heard a pound" I feel that would have been an appropriate response. Either way, she went to go change the amount. While she and the other gentleman were fixing the order, I hear a third person, a man, shout "There's no 'exactlies'!" I responded, "I didn't ask for exactly, I asked for half a pound." He comes over to the counter and again tells me, gruffly there's no "exactlies". (I've worked in a deli, I know how it goes, but 1.15lbs is waaaay over). He asks what the issue is and I say "the only issue is that you were in the back shouting there's no exactly, when I didn't ask for exactly." He spits back "well I have an issue when people are rude to my staff." I said "I wasn't rude, I just asked a question." "Well then, we have no issue," says he. Yes, we have an issue. You made assumptions, your staff got the order wrong and were happy to fix it, as good staff do, and you go and make the whole place look bad because you made presumptions. 1.15 isn't a little over. 1/2lb isn't a little over. I didn't ask for exactly a lb or 1/2lb. And your screaming at customers from the other side of your deli ensures I will never spend a dime there again. I'm also contacting the Kiwanis club, and telling them how you treated patrons who were coming in amidst a national crisis and instead of being the good, positive community member the Kiwanis club expected you to be, you were just another petty business owner worried about getting an extra couple of bucks by heavy-weighting a lb of over-priced roast beef. read more

4.5 stars for this hidden gem. I found this place tucked away through other yelpers. You go here often for breakfast and I get the hungry man breakfast. There board head sandwiches are generous and they have pretty good cold cut sides like macaroni and potato salads. The only knock on the place it's more of a take out place and can use more seating. read more

Let me start by saying that my vacation is going great! Part of why is because of good friends and great food. The best meal I had this far was from "Fred's Delicatessen." Let me explain why. Getting prepared to goto Texas, I was doing a lot of running around. No time really to eat. So when I got hungry, I looked on Yelp. I saw the positive reviews regarding Fred's and decided I was going there for dinner. I went with my brother and it was minutes from his apartment. We pulled up to a nice size parking lot. Inside the deli was organized and neat. There was no seating, but it probably because they want maximum sale space. Walking up to the counter I met the owner, Ron, and his wonderful staff. They were all friendly and quick to help. Ron I could tell was passionate about the deli. He spoke proudly of the fifty one years they were in business and how yelp sent him a "2018 best deli on Long Island award." Ron also explained how all the salads were made there and nothing came off a truck. Ron even let us sample some stuff. Big mistake, Rob knew what he was doing! He knew the Salad was so good, it would get us hooked. It worked. We ended up taking some with us. Ron also bragged about a fresh batch of pulled pork he had made and gave me a complimentary container to try more of the goods. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of pulled pork. With that being said, after trying Ron's pork I quickly changed that crazy talk about not liking pulled pork. This was a serious container of pulled pork! Hands down it was excellent. I was impressed with the salads, but what about the sandwiches? They can't get everything right.....can they? I got to my brothers car and took a bite. The first thing I thought was can I move closer to this deli? This hero was incredible! They put to much meat on it I tell you! It should not be legal to put that much bacon and cheese on a hero! But today I overheard a conversation between a costumer and a older gentleman (possibly the manager) regarding the the NY Mets deciding not to play their game the other day. The older gentlemen said the Mets should all die, in reference to the fact they didn't not to play Thursday as a protest. This clearly demonstrates how this man felt toward public figures taking a stand against social insustice. I will not be going to this deli anymore & suggest others to do the same. They do not wear gloves while preparing your food. They use their bare hands. that is one of my biggest peeves. Fred's has become my Sunday morning go-to. I always get breakfast sandwhiches and they kill it every time. Idk how they can make simple eggs taste so good! Although the line can be long, the service is so great that your order is taken within minutes of walking in the door. They definitely staff for the rush, unlike other bagel spots in the area.
