The good thing is everybody is helpful. I've had their smoothies multiple times and I've enjoyed them all. I don't have a favorite because they're all good. The combo included a smoothie and a food item. The staff was very nice and had no problem adjusting my order to what I wanted as opposed to what was listed. I was happy they serve breakfast all day. First I want to start by saying there is parking right beside this store. Second, I have to say, I love the music. Love the neighborhood they're in. I LOVE the service. Came by with my boyfriend for a refreshing smoothie amidst this 90 degree weather! I've never had Tropical Smoothie before, but I was easily convinced by what he described as a "realllly good smoothie". He ordered a sunrise sunset, & I got the blimey limey. The ordering process was seamless, and within minutes, we had our drinks. The sunrise sunset is definitely mango heavy, but was really tasty. Granted, I only order smoothies, but I peak at the wrap making station and the food comes out pretty much as it looks on the website pictures. I'm a fan, lots of flavors, always consistent. Tried a watermelon Mojito flavor this summer, loved it, might like it with a splash of rum haha. Had a matcha flavor in Florida and that's my fave, not sure if they had it here in NY. Remember to request no sugar in the smoothies if that's your preference, doesn't affect the taste at all. I came to Tropical Smoothie Cafe to try out their food specials and I got very sick from it. Additionally, when I brought the issue to the attention of the management of the Merrick location, I had the worst possible customer service experience. Here is the full story: Arriving at the store on a hot day, I was dismayed to smell the odor of garbage permeating throughout the store as the employees had the back door open and the dumpster was right by the door outside. Everybody working in the store was sweating and several were not properly wearing face coverings for prevention of COVID transmission. I did not make an issue out of this as it was a hot day and obviously the air conditioning was not working. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and started eating it on my drive home. I had only 2 bites and noticed an odd taste to the shrimp. I opened the quesadilla to inspect and frankly, the shrimp were RANCID. They were not in the early stages of spoiling, they were WAY past that. I then called the store to let them know that the entire batch of shrimp should be thrown away to prevent customers from getting sick, and a supervisor on site told me she would call me back. By the time she called me, I was experiencing severe stomach cramps and had vomited once already. She told me that the shrimp looked fine to her, and that they were not expired. When I explained to her that prior to becoming a doctor, I had worked for 8 years in the food service industry in various positions, and was also certified in infection control, I was again told that the shrimp were "fine." I then requested to speak with the manager and the lady I was connected to also did not care that I had some level of experience in the industry, nor did she take my complaint seriously. I was again told that there was nothing wrong with the shrimp. She offered to refund my purchase and give me a free drink. What I asked for was to have the owner or lead manager of the store call me to discuss this HEALTH HAZARD because the employees at the site that day are obviously unqualified to deal with food quality related public health issues, and should be re-trained. I left my phone number 2 weeks ago and have not heard from the store since then. I was unable to go to work at the hospital the following day after this incident because of the degree of food poisoning I was experiencing. After all the effort I went through to get through to the store about this safety issue, I would expect at a minimum some level of recognition and honesty from the store, which would have quickly rectified my concern. Instead, I feel obligated to report this place to the NY state health department and let anybody I can reach online know about their negligence. read more

For COVID I give them a 2: when you order via Uber eats or any other app, the portions are much smaller. They are aware of the delivery charges etc that the consumer must pay, so why not control the portions of the wraps/sandwiches to reflect regular times. I've never gotten a small wrap from a tropical smoothie location before so this was an eye opener. Hopefully when you're at the location, they won't prepare such a small item and will actually give your money's worth. read more

The smoothie was not ready when I arrived which is no big deal except for the fact that only 1 employee was making smoothies and working the cash register while 3 others stood around talking. There were approximately 7 customers on line waiting to order and another 3 customers in addition to me waiting for on line orders. After another 20 minutes, my order was placed on shelf. We all had to go to the shelf and read the label to see whose name was on the cup. Employee did not care to call out customer name. Smoothie was way too watery. The store was filthy. This place has the WORST customer service. Ordered 3 smoothies through UBer eats. Only one was delivered. When I called to ask what happened they blamed it on the UBEr driver and said they don't deliver. My daughter begged me to go get it so we went to pick it up, the place is dirty and smelly. I asked them for a credit for the delivery charge they refused and said it wasn't their problem. And they have a sign in Their door that claims to deliver???What a sad example of customer retention-sadly the smoothies were not that good anyway.
