I feel deprived, I've never had a donut from here before. Our buddy told us that we had to give them a try and we were next door so we decided to stop in. The donuts are filled, soft, and delicious. Our fave was the cannoli filled donut. Wow! Staff is super friendly, and they offered to prepare any donuts that weren't in the case. Today I ventured in for my very favorite Boston Cream doughnut. It's fluffy and soft, filled with just the right amount of that overflowing light yellow cream. OMG, heaven on earth. First let me say they used to be an Italian bakery. They now sell bagels and Boars head sandwiches, more like a Deli. Ordered Biscotti and other cookies, Biscotti had no taste at all waste of money. La Roma Pastry Shop on Sunrise Hwy is the best. read more

The young lady behind the counter (sorry I didn't get your name but you had dark wavy hair & glasses) was so kind after I explained I had never been there before. It was Christmas Eve and the whole crew was happy and giggling! The place smelled amazing, I was overwhelmed by all the choices, the breads looked heavenly and overall the name of this bakery has been in my head for years but I could never find it. Finally I did and it was so worth it! Ask a question and it's like you are the only customer in the room! What was even nicer was the fact she was kind enough to tell me about all the cookies! I felt a sugar rush standing there hearing about them! But I only got 1&1/2 pounds of three kinds: jelly filled butter cookies dipped in chocolate with holiday sprinkles , Pfeffernüsse clouds from heaven and another chocolate crispy favorite I ate on the way home in traffic. I have to also admit I am very picky about my rainbow cakes and this one - pictured - was worth hiding from my husband as I walked in the door. I didn't care how much it was, I wish I could have one every day of the week! The fudge, the right amount of filling and the airy layers made it the best I have ever had. Considering I've had a few even ones sent to me from outside the US. Not only was it a gift I gave my waistline, I'd go again in a heartbeat to see the crew, enjoy the atmosphere but most of all pick up a treat or two! If you have not been here - get here asap! I Jared Troccoli had spent $78 on a cake to be prepared for a friend's party and it was a 2 layer half Cannoli and half butter cream filled cake the bakery did not have the appropriate size box for it and due to unstable fitting the top part of the cake and the flowers decorated on it were ruin which caused major embarrassment for me at the party very unprofessional and I will never buy from bakery again read more

Worst bakery/bagel store Ive ever been too. I waited 10 minutes on line because there were 2 employees making deli sandwiches and egg sandwiches at which I thought was a bakery but apparently its a deli too. Anyway, my wife had a cake from there a few years ago which she loved so I thought id surprise her with a cake from there for her birthday. I got a cake and some pastries and since they sold bagels I got one of those too. Let me tell you, everything was hard and disgusting. Cinnamon raisin bagel was a square and hard. The cake stale, tasted like it was sitting around for weeks same as the pastries, now I dont know if this is a bakery, a bagel store a deli or what but seems like its horrible at all 3. Got a chocolate fudge cake for my brother's 75th Birthday celebration dinner. Not only was it tasteless but stale. Paid $26 for it and $4 each slice for restaurant to serve it. Why is so much lost in conversation, it's like they're not even paying attention. Called and ordered a birthday cake, called twice after to confirm. When we drove 25 min to get to this bakery the cake we ordered was not there according to the staff. Then after about 20 min we're told no the cake is there just not the special decorations that we ordered and paid for. We were very sad and disappointed. It was a lot of aggravation which if they were honest and upfront could have been overlooked. The cake tasted nice enough. Was way smaller then ordered and in a box that didn't fit so it was sliding around and the sides smooshed before we even got to the party. They called a half hour after we left to say they found our cake? At this point we'd wasted more then an hour. So sad I was so hopeful read more

The pastries where extremely stale.. the fruit was dried out, the cream and pastry itself was hard..and if that wasn't enough, there were fingerprints in 2 of my eclairs. when I called there were no managers around and the girl "wasn't sure" if the owner was there. Went in this morning to pick my order up. Staff is rude I must say. I called up ahead of time for a pick up order it was only one item a bagel with cream cheese the man who picked up the phone said thats it and I said yes he seemed annoyed and made a huff . Ok well I go in to pick my bagel up and the man says "your bagel isn't ready yet he's still making it. It takes him about 25 min to make a bagel" we both workers laugh. So obviously these 2 who were working had their balls in a twist tht I called in a bagel and made a sarcastic joke . I didn't rlly appreciate that comment as it was unnecessary and I got bad vibes already on the phone . For the workers to indirectly say something about the customer is disgusting! For what it's worth... this Prestano is pretty solid. I mean the one by me closed and there's really no bakery around which kinda sucks. I mean really sucks! Every time I come in hardly ever do I have to wait too long if at all and I'm in and I'm out. I still have yet to try their Cheesecake but we've had their cookies and Italian bread and it takes care of our needs. He he. I feel like bakeries are dying which is ridiculously upsetting to me. I know call me old fashioned but bakeries in food stores and Costco and BJs don't cut it for this old soul. Nothing beats a pot of fresh sauce, raviolis, some meatballs, braciole or sausage and some crusty Italian bread. Last year we went there to specifically order a Buttercream Sheet Cake with Choc cake and Rasberry filling for my daughters Graduation Party. My daughter drove 30 min each way to pick it up. We had over 100 people and after she cut the cake we realized it was not Buttercream but a fake Whip Cream called "Better Cream." We had no choice but to serve it although no one enjoyed it but we had no other option. The next day when I called them to complain The owner told me "bring it back" otherwise he couldn't do anything about it. The worst Customer Service ever! Avoid at all costs! I enjoy apple pies, turnovers, etc. My daughter bought an apple horn pastry at Prestano's yesterday. It was excellent. Flaky pastry, some sugary crumbs on top, and best of all plenty of apple filling. I find most bakeries skimp on the filling so you get a little bit of apple but mostly pastry crust. I never saw this bakery open and running until this week. Of course, I gotta check it out (even if I'm not a baked goods lover - just a devoted ice cream enthusiast) The place is small, but it has the typical bakery cookies, breads, and such. I decided to go for a vanilla cupcake and red velvet cupcake. I was pretty hesitant because they didn't look that delicious. I also got this humungO horse shoe shaped cheese strudel. How good? or bad? Let's have a taste: Cupcakes - I've had wayyyy better cupcakes in my life. Including week old unrefrigerated stale cupcakes. Strudel - first bite was forgettable, but after a couple bites you keep reaching for it? Not very sweet and kind of addicting. Something good with coffee in the morning. I have been going to this bakery since I was 3 and always love to visit it now and again. The chocolate-chip butter cookies, whole wheat italian bread (Tuesdays only) and apple crumb are delicious. Went there twice recently. First purchased cake was ok. Next was disgusting. Chocolate pudding pie. Brought it for a dessert and was embarrassed as it went into the garbage. My friend that is a good customer of this Prestano bakery on Johnson Ave was very upset because while she was being responsible wearing a mask and gloves and the store had signs up about social distancing they let the small store fill up with people instead of only letting 2 people in at a time. She was very upset and when she said something the guy behind her started laughing and the store owner did nothing about it. Shame on them. I was in a last minute rush last week to find something sugar free for my boyfriend's birthday and he was only diagnosed diabetic a month and a half ago. So I dont know the best places yet. I called local bakeries and most had some cookies, but I wanted a cake, it was his birthday after all! I called Prestanos and they said they didnt have cakes but had cookies, apple turnovers and cheesecake. Well cheesecake is a cake right?! So I ran down there and first off all of their desserts look amazing. I had to stop myself from buying a cute 4 pack of meringue cookies. Purchased the cheesecake, which at $18 I thought was a bit expensive since it wasnt full size. BUT let me tell you, the taste of that sugar free cheesecake is out of this world. My bf was convinced I bought him a regular cake and I had to show him the sugar free note on the platter it came on. There's no crust, just a ny style cheesecake that is perfectly molded with no cracks, nice and firm but super creamy. And the flavor is just scrumptious!! I will absolutely start purchasing from them more often as I never really had before last week. I plan to get those meringues first lol read more
