What sets First Class Bagel Cafe apart from most of the competition are their unique offerings, like the craisin-feta almond balsamic quinoa and the honey-bacon sriracha cream cheese. The quinoa is very tasty, and the cream cheese is a flavor that I've never seen at other bagel cafes. They also carry Nova Scotia lox, which sells for $55/lb. Nicole was my server today, and she sliced the lox with real skill. It was smooth, fresh, and absolutely delicious, pairing perfectly with my plain mini bagel. Their flavored iced coffees are another highlight, brewed from flavored beans instead of adding flavored syrup to regular beans. My favorites are Cinnamon Hazelnut and French Vanilla. They have no problem walking away from you when you are next to go do something else and act like they never saw you. Visiting the Island for a weekend and wanted some bagels to go home with. This establishment is easy access before heading to the highway so we stopped in. Signage is large and clear with plenty of parking. Sandwich board outside the door as well as inside clear and easy to read options. LOTS to look at desserts abound in one while side of their establishment. They have a Cannoli bar to build your own Cannoli, have never seen this before. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches and a half dozen bagels. I walked around taking pictures while we waited for our sandwiches. We ordered a bacon egg and cheese as well as a sausage egg and cheese and they both were huge compared to the sandwiches we are used to in Maine. After taking pictures I watched in awe as they made the bagels. Pulling them from the boiling water, placing in racks with the seeds on bottom and then added on top. The oven is a rotating shelf until the size of a large pizza oven. When ready to go into the oven he opens the door slightly to see what shelf is empty then fully opens the door and slides the bagels in to be toasted nice and brown and crispy, YUM! People are saying how expensive this place is compared to other places and honestly all places are expensive. Ease of access and good quality go a long way. Yes, we will be back next visit. We came here on a weekend morning and it was pretty bustling. But I looked at the reviews in the shop and was surprised that it was so low. Some of the people in the reviews had complained of cold sandwiches or getting the wrong item. I, unfortunately, experienced both of these issues here. We waited in line for our food and it took about 15-20 minutes just to get our food. We ordered a lot of bagels here one morning and we were very disappointed. I think the fellow taking orders was going too fast and I had a bad feeling when he didn't repeat back our orders. Over half of what we ordered was wrong. First of all, 3 people in our party ordered coffee and 2 asked for cream and sugar. There was no cream or sugar in 2 of the coffees and so we had to get in line to ask for some more. Then once we received our food, one person noticed that his order was missing the potatoes that he had ordered. He said that it doesn't usually happen. When I got my sandwich, there was only bacon and eggs, and I said that was the wrong sandwich and that I ordered an egg and cheese bagel, so they had to remake it. When I got my egg and cheese bagel, the cheese was not melted and inedible. It was not good so I had to ask for another one. When I brought it to the counter, I showed the staff member and he didn't seem to know what was wrong. I told him the sandwich was cold and the cheese was not melted like everyone else's bagel sandwich was. So they made it again. We waited about 15 minutes for our food at first and then I had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes for my sandwiches that were made incorrectly. I didn't even get to eat my sandwich here because of the multiple mistakes and us needing to get to our destination that day. I think there needs to be better training of staff and more attentiveness to orders. They did not seem apologetic for the messed up orders or that they did anything wrong. Pay attention to your reviews. They seem to have a pattern of mistakes so I think they just need to be more careful with preparing sandwiches and making sure people are getting what they are paying for. read more

The food is decent albeit hit or Miss. the other day I got a bacon egg and cheese on a roll and the roll was hard and it put me in the bathroom for the remainder of the day. A friend recommended this place a year or so ago, and at first I liked it a lot. Breakfast sandwiches were quite good. I've tried coming in a couple of times lately for lunch and have not had a good experience. They offer a zillion sandwiches, many of them that sound really interesting, but the employees behind the counter don't really seem familiar with whichever one you end up ordering. And yes, slow as molasses. yesterday was the last straw for me with this place. I decided to try one of their new sandwich creations, which consisted of a breaded chicken cutlet, prosciutto, mozzarella, and peppers on a pressed hero. Sounds good, right? I get home only to find that the chicken is completely inedible: tough, chewy, grizzly and old tasting. I had to pull all the chicken out and throw it away. The older woman who served me had to write down my bagel choices in case they didn't have my first choice (the bagel shelf was right next to her and it was 10 am on a weekday). She decided to just make the bagel without telling me which bagel she had "found". When I realized she had already started putting cream cheese it was too late for me to ask for it toasted. I had assumed she would have told me which bagel she had gotten or ask if I wanted it toasted first. When I went closer to the counter to pay I saw that the bagel I had initially asked for was in fact in the shelf. I pointed it out to her and her response was that they were in the wrong shelf. This was my second time coming because I felt like giving them another chance after having a bad first experience. Never again for me. The bagel ended up being very hard and not good. The sun-dried tomato cream cheese was very crumbly and seemed old as well. The bagels at Costco are a thousand times better. They have many delicious sounding flavors listed by the bagels but a lot of them aren't even in stock. Don't get me wrong- everything was delicious - (I could not finish the whole pickle). But the total cost had me paying for "bells and whistles" that I did not ask for . Place has great sandwiches and pastries. Probably the closest I would get to a Brooklyn bagel in LI. But good luck getting speedy service during rush hour. Despite them having so many people behind the counter taking orders and cooking, they still manage to take forever. What baffles my mind is them having multiple registers, few at the back where you would place your sandwich orders and another at the front where you would pay for deserts/pastries. Yet you have to wait the ridiculously long sandwich line, to get a cake to go. I am a low-carb guy, so can't comment on bagels or pastries. But their chopped and prepared salads are absolutely "first class" and reasonably priced. I get 1-2 chopped salads there per week and always take advantage of the limitless combinations I can come up with. As for prepared salads, I recommend super egg, egg avocado, balsamic chicken, dill chicken, and sriracha tuna. Lots of reviewers complain about long waits.
